this thing would get millions of views if you put a camera on a track to get footage of the machine movie from the side. this video is lacking, get a better camera. still sweet tho, don't get me wrong

Yeah... I've seen 'you tube's of it. those big boys are hell to balance, unless you can stand up like on mine. Most of the Bat Pod in motion has to be CG or blue screen. Mine's pretty easy AND you can ride double..humpa, humpa!:-O
once you're moving, it is little effort. Going up a hill isn't hard, since the drop of your body and the weight of the machine pushes it up hill @ half the time. Can't go too fast, but cruises nicely at @ 6-8 mph... sprints up to @ 12...
it's like when you push the pedals down on a bike, the wheels turn forward. The axle on this makes the wheel & frame act like a pedal, so you push down w/ your weight on the machine, the wheel goes around, as the axel goes down. Look at the video by swingbike chick...twice.
No chain at all. the Rear axel is 5 inches off center. That's the whole deal. The handlebar is 'fixed', but it rocks in rhythm with the rest of the rise and fall of the frame. So you pump the floorboard, and push/pull on the 'bars. Google 'Bounce For Glory ' and look at the close ups on Flickr.
Look at the 2 other videos linked in the "About This Video" section above. To start or climmb a hill or a dune or go htru deep mud, I walk the tire 'lumberjack' style. That's good for starts, too.
There are 3 w/ the Hoosier tires, 1 more planned (all amphibians for our races). I've made @117 with bicycle wheels, and one with a 40" trampoline for rear off set wheel
Actually the bounce cancels out most of the bumps...smoother! It kicks ass over most other kinetic racers, esp. on sand and really steep hills. no suckage.
Doesn't matter. We race on mud, sand, rivers, in the rain. Kicks butt. My boots don't slip in the rain. First place in 2 races, 3rd in two others... Grand Champion in June. Water, bumps, let me at 'em. The ride is a blast, and all the other racers have to go through the same stuff.

how do you have the chain drive the wheel? if it's using an up/down force wouldn't it need a push to start off?
