We trusted government too much. Now the country is being bombarded by a fear campaign.. just in time for elections. Interesting how we are not in a recession for the last 3 years.. while Bush is in office.. now that he's leaving.. we're entering a depression. Hmm.. something smells funny. By the by.. when the two sides work together.. that means larger CENTRAL GOVERNMENT. Guess what.. no matter who you choose we're going socialist for better or worse.
excuse me, utubefavorsdems? and what, pray tell, has bush done for us? Aside from killing a million people in Iraq, they have... ahem.... caused a civil war, a recession, everyone hates us. And you give a crud about the FIRST LADY? Hussein, huh? that's just pathetic.
And their 'cure' for the economy, hollisterbabii28, is to give millions to the idiots that messed up, spending mmore then the amount that we've spent in Iraq. I'm for the debate. McCain is another Bush.
i can't believe people still support Obama or McCain. say goodbye to liberty. i wonder what our forefathers (fathers of the constitution) would be saying...
McCain has handled this economic crisis in a PANIC. With denial, "the fundamentals of our economy are strong," accusations, threats, a "commission," a weak plan mimicing Bush, desperate calls to call off the debate, and after flailing poll numbers he still is in all directions.
I am EXCITED that in just a few hours McCain will get his ASS handed to him by a man whose been more presidential, confident, and prepared and who will SLAY McCain in a face to face verbal battle.

The right thing to do was go to Washington, this is the most profound issue facing our nation today, but not any less serious than terrorism.
Don't you think it was ok for these 2 men who one of whom will be dealing with this problem for at least 4 years could just go and take a look at it?? Of course it was John McCain showed the kind of leadership he is known for.
wow, "your the one" "we love you" "your like jesus" Is this guy God? no, what are his plans on the economy? "I hope you read my economic plan." Its the same old partisan politics.
The qualities that a leader should have , integrity and courage , seem to be sorely lacking in this man. Personal style is no substitute for action. McCain for president !
what an idiot...he's basically saying "Let's not do anything about it, let's make sure I sound good to the people, since I had it all planned for the debate" voting for Barack is like putting lipstick on the american flag.

McCain is certainly not wanting to debate is a political move. It's obvious. McCain needs more brushing up on economic issues and what his economic views needs to be. Barack, if your alone at the debate, you need to make note of McCain's absence. Also, mention that a president needs to be able to multitask. Multitask--key word!
IF obama wants to be presidential, he needs to be in Washington. NO EXCUSES!
People that don't want to be jobless, homeless, no money in the bank, no pension funds, will be watching to see if taxpayers are protected in this 700B deal.
Debate? it will convince the convinced, lots of hot air and I'm not watching just obama!
I am a lifelong democrat, but if Obama votes for this bailout and puts the burden on the taxpayers, I will not vote for him. Period. This is a scam!
Please go to the Dallas Feds web page and see the article written by the Dallas, TX Federal Reserve President Richard Fisher. He makes alot of sense.
The republicans want to shift the burden off of the taxpayers, which makes more sense. First time in my life that I agree with these republicans in the congress.
Watching Obama here makes my cynical heart hopeful. I REALLY appreciate his candour and his want to rise above party politics. I just can't help but yell at the screen GO OBAMA!
Can he be Prime Minister of Australia too? We'd love him!
Wow, im not surprised he didn't go... it would require him to do his job as a senator. Obama is just eager to be president. McCain is the clear winner to me. The debates are just to juxtapose both canidates veiws. Any dumb ass can go look up what each thinks about a topic.
This is a $700 billion-$1 trillion bailout in need of urgent approval to avoid a crash of our entire financial system and Obama still insists we should have the debate! McCain rightfully realizes the debate can wait. The guy who all along has tried to say it is all about the economy is MIA on the most important economic issue Congress has undertaken in decades! Instead Obama is obessessing about HIS debate? Those leadership skills honed as a community organizer aren't up to snuff.
Senator Mcdebatedodgecain....what a JOKE! Did you just wake up? The economic decay of America started 8 years ago! Get with the freaking program and drink your ensure like a good retiree you geriatric gray haired comb over jet crashing grandpa!
Presidents need to multitask, do you hear that mCCAIN?? YOU'RE TOO DAMN OLD......YOU KIDS GET OFF MY LAWN!!!!!
It's ironic that an administration who has claimed to stand for fiscal responsibility like most republicans are supposed to stand for, has asked tax payers to "loan" (more like give) out money to irresponsible corporations in the hopes that they will pay us back. Don't give them a dime (although nine pennies will suffice).
16 min of @#@#$@#% I hope he will deliver and fix the issues he is indicating ... if you pay attention Obama never mention the plan how he will do it ... I turly hope my vote for him will not get wasted.
Sorry Mccain, I'm sure you were intelligent when you're younger. But you're old now, and getting senile. Hearing you speak is almost as bad as hearing Bush speak compared to Obama.
Obama, a true leader, calm under pressure. This debate must do on and if McCain does not show Barack should still go and say to the American people what he had plan to say. Just because John McCain wants to hide behind the economic crisis dosent mean Barack does
Obama is the ONE. As bad as that sounds, it is true. McCain and especially Palin represent everything that is wrong with America right now. OBAMA/ BIDEN '08.
ok they want us to bail out wallstreet, most of their money went to the ceos and upper management, I am a single father of 3 children I work 7 days a week at 9.00 an hour banks wont loan me money because I dont make enough to pay the rent and utilities, no house of our own, I believe the working poor need a bailout just to raise our children healthy, America will be judged by the wellness of all its people not the wellness of wallstreet, please give my children a golden parachute good luck barack
Most are not seeing the real reason McCain wants to postpone the debate. He wants to postpone it so he can avoid the VP debate. If this is postponed on friday, McCain is asking it take place instead of the VP debate. If your watching the Palins little exposure shes already provided enough remarks to loose a debate and to show her lack of confidence in what shes saying and her depth of experience. The more she speaks the more she kills her rockstar persona.
right there he looks so fitting as a president. he speaks like a true president. America needs him. i don't care if you're a democratic, republican or independent, you can't deny the mans character.
I can't believe the big deal made of this. We have one who wants to DO something and one who wants to TALK about it. I would prefer someone who is going to take action, not give a nice speech that's supposed to make me feel good.
I love it "Obama Ali" in the glactico2008 comment. Yes the debate should go on. McCain is a coward. Learn to multi task. A president should learn how to do that so now we know McCain can't so he should just give it up. I totally agree with klpeekl2000's comment.
McCain is a coward and a master of distraction from the real issues. By avoiding the debates he is being unpatriotic, cowardly I'm very patriotic, I love the USA and I'm downright terrified where this country would go with McCain at the helm. BARACK OBAMA has it 100%+ right. Let's hear a debate about the economy since we're in this crisis! Sad thing is, lots of people don't have a clue and will simply vote McCain without giving the country a thought. Grrrrrr.
obama is the only man who can change the destiny of usa. we hope nothing strange happen to you like they did with j.f. kenedy. and we hope the republicans don't make their party win anyhow like they did in the second term of g. bush
This country needs Obama and we thank him for recognizing our sense of urgency in viewing this and all debates. Obama will show him up for being as uninformed as we know him to be!
McCain want's Obama there that way in the god forbid event this fails he can drag him down too. Also he thinks that if he's there and Obama isn't and this solves or at least patches this problem he can run ad's saying he doesn't care which is total bull. It's always a chess game with them. Move, counter-move, always deceit, I'm pleased Obama runs a clean campaign and sticks to his feelings. McCain seems to think he has a win win situation by avoiding the debates but its a gamble hell lose.
Barack Obama, you are the man for the job! McCain's policy of deregulation would have us in The Great Depression II. Now we have the chance to skip the modern Herbert Hoover and move on to the modern Franklin D. Roosevelt! Will the USA learn from the past, or even see the parallels? We need a new New Deal, and this is it!
Ahh so this is why we upgraded the Ole Miss Airport when I was in school there. So that all the politicians can land there big planes with there slogans on the side. OBAMA will be the most remembered president in American history, I can't wait to cast my vote for him. VETERANS FOR OBAMA
Uh, um, ah, um, ah...this stuttering baffoon could run a Subway sandwich shop let alone the country. Ah, um, uh, ah...McCain will win in a landslide!!!!!! Go John!!!!!
Obama you are the best man the whole world see he will the president of the u.s. and I blive you are. Obama you are good man as I see to myself and other America see too.I hope you win.why not yes we can. Obama good luck.
Barrack, I'm on your side. But it still strikes me as weird that you and mccain want to come together to demonstrate that this is a bipartisan problem and that typical politics should be left out when, in my opinion, every issue that confronts congress should be treated that way, regardless of urgency or importance. can you please make the points you've made in this speech a general attitude toward congress and lawmaking when you're president? thanks : P <3risa
Go Obama, McSame will lose. We need Obama. Everyone voting for McCain is why we have been dug deeper and deeper every year. Maybe another 4 years after, your kids college fund, and your retirement are gone maybe then youll wake up
Your job is being a Senator. Running for President is not a profession. Please do your job! "We The People" do not care about your walking and gum chewing habits. Neither of those things are accomplishments, and claiming the ability to do both at the same time does not qualify you to be President of the United States. This the kind of meaningless rhetoric we have come to expect from you.
John McCain has decided to take action in a time of crisis. Please join him.
It is so obvious Obama has done a lot of research and work into solving America's issues. Only a sincere person would devote so much effort unlike others who do just enough to make everything look good to win the election. The bible's term for this is "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing". That is what comes to mind when I hear and see McCain.
funny i tried posting a statement that was very mundane, but not praising of the new messiah O and it cannot be posted, hmmm free speach must be optional for Obama supporters
none of this is a stunt. Obama is more concerned about promoting his career. Both Obama and Mccane are united states senetors and have a job to do. Mccane, puts country first. All these childish coments are from people that probably aren't even old enough to vote. Mccane has been doing his job long before Obamam held a crayon. This is not a MTV pop contest people, it is for the presidency. Wake up and grow up. Obama is not ready.
Obama is the absolute best candidate for the Presidency! I am such a strong advocate and am very disappointed that my state of Kansas is strongly Republican. I feel like my vote won't count at all and I can only hope that others' votes will help him in office. We don't need more of the same which is exactly what we would get with McCain!
Obama in the 4 years he has been in the US senate, he spent 2 running for the White House. In 620 votes he voted "not voting" 298 times. Two of his biggest campaign advisors, Johnson and Raines both at one time RAN FANNIE MAE.. they walked away with $190 MILLION between them .. please think when you go to the polls. ..
It is so obvious to me that Obama has done a lot of research and hard work when it comes to solving America's issues. The only way you put that much effort into something is to care. Someone who is just in it for themselves does only what it takes to look good enough to fool people. In the bible the term for this is "wolf in sheeps clothing". This is what I think of when I see and hear McCain.
Okay, he's probably the best guy at giving speeches
Come on, do we seriously think he's going to put those plans into effect? Those are proposals! Presidents cant breathe without congress's permission! I think we should be looking for better congressmen, since their approval rating is down to, what, 7 percent?
Why are you guys calling McCain a coward? Oh yeah that's right he's a veteran. That must make him a coward. Try saying that to every other USA veteran... try it...
We'll stay in Iraq until we "suceed" - even though the purpose is to let the Iraquis take over, which is counter productive - and will never happen with McCain (success)
Taxes will be higher (search "CNN crunch tax numbers")
More lobbiests, special interests, and more secrecy than Bush ever had!!! :)
obama will get owned during the debates.stop being blind sheep.this guy offer NOTHING.has no real record or experience.he's a fucking acter, the presidency is no place for this muslim, left wing, wimpy tool.
Obama sucks not that you would see this because he usually screens comments. You know that pesky freedom of speech thing. Ask the NRA, he banned an ad stating facts he does not want his kool aid drinking supporters to know.
Obama. You are just THE ONE. From Barcelona, Spain, all our respects for you! We believe in you. We need people like you in this planet. You are going to be a good president! We all know. Thanks Obama. YES WE CAN. Now, more than EVER, WE CAN!
Of course the debate now is more important than ever, the whole world wants a debate, and the debate is very important ASAP, we all have the right to be informed, McCain coward, i can wait to see McCain get beat by Obama Ali.
Really? McCain is a coward? He served in a war and was tortured. I don't think your pretty boy Big Ears Obama could ever take anything close to that. You have the right to be informed, unfortunately you believe political ads.
Your calling McCain a coward? I don't support McCain. I think Obama's the man. But in all honesty, you cannot call a man who spent a period of his life being tortured by people in some far off country with the constant risk of immanent death a coward. He got through it. He even made sure his fellow soldiers got through it. He's a guy everyone would want to buy a drink for. But he is not right to be President.
McSame suspending his campaig, yeah right. As if he would do that, he's not THAT stupid. Just another attempt to get media attention. Excellent reply from Obama, have a reform ánd a debate, Yes We Can!
I just finished reading several publish storylines and NOT ONE person mentioned that the American citizens WANT this debate. This debate should go on. No excuses.
May the Lord send his blessing on you and keep you: May the light of the Lord's face be shining on you in grace.May the Lord's approval be resting on you and may he give you peace.
Obama you are the man! Many of us are so pissed at McCain for pulling this stunt and you keep your cool, stick to the topics at hand and still are able to commend your opponent a number of times in public! Brilliant!
the polls are bad for mccain, he wants to postpone it so it could get better then he wants to debate, cause either ways he's going to lose the debate, he doesn't want it to hurt the polls numbers as bad
President Obama made the best decision on this matter. It is imperative that the debate is held and that people hear both candidates. He has good judgment, is able to multi-task, great leadership and knows how to work with others. Obama Biden '08
Did you guys ever see that episode of The Office, where Michael downloads negotiation tactics from Wikipedia and uses them against Darryl? Isn't this exactly what McCain is doing?
Let's put down the microphone, roll up our sleeves and get to Washington to get your infinite wisdom on this legislation. There is 40 days to do plenty of debating. Show your leadership and be a leader...your party needs you or maybe not. Both canidates need to stop the crap and earn their money.
Thing is Obama and McCain wouldn't even be in the same room as the committee leaders on this bailout.
This meeting with GWBush is merely a photo-op. I think that Obama has a handle on the this situation.
To the poster that mentions that Obama should have a hand in this, as next POTUS, he can have input, but this is about our democracy put to a vote, and our right as constituents should be contacting our congresspeople and letting them know how we feel.
Sure, but McLame wants to cancel the debates because he knows he will lose. And he for sure wants to cancel the Sarah Failin debate because he knows what will happen. He and Obama aren't even on the committee that is working on the proposal, so there is no need to for them to work on it! They are just distracting those who are working on the proposal from their work if they go to Washinton! They should just communicate with the people who are involved and stay on top of it. Debate now!
This is a great speech, but what amazes me most is that he doesn't antagonize McCain or any other politician, Republican or otherwise. I am still backing Obama and Biden, but it is refreshing that Obama shows noticeable respect for McCain as a capable politician, although their views about certain problems differ.
While I don't think our government is perfect, I have a little more faith that our government isn't a bunch of idiots. Granted, they've got a ways to go, but this is a step forward.
The Great Depression is something both of my parents lived through and often talked about even 30,40,50 years afterwards. If I were Obama who says this is the biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression and I may be the leader AFTER a $700,000,000,000 bailout, I'd be in Washington assuring that it was done right and something I could live with for the next 4 to 8 years. I would not trust the call me if you need me approach especially with a congress that played a part in this mess.
Sen. Barack Obama commands total respect in everything he says and does. How anyone could prefer McCain over Obama is really something I cannot understand. We must work to get the "swing" voters to hear Obama out -- such as sharing this video. The future of the country depends on it. If anyone can help us get out of this economic crisis it is Obama... the Republicans will only make sure the very rich (such as themselves) are not ruined financially.
Thank u Obama for not backing out, Mccain and his people will anything to make themselves look like they know what there doing. We know he follows rules of those behind the scene, same as Bush. Private investors are running them, the more they make before hell breaks loose. They're worst than the MOB, legal corruption. You hang in there, outstanding job.
If your for Obama please rate this comment positive on the little thums up/down thingy over to the right. Go Obama!

Instead Obama is obessessing about HIS debate? Those leadership skills honed as a community organizer aren't up to snuff.

MAC SHOULD STAY AWAY:
Congress was ready to get a bipartisan concensus and solve the financial crisis, in part created by republican deregulations.
MAC shows up last minute, without even reading the proposal, only to attract attention, appear in the picture and get undeserved credits.
MAC has now created more tension, even inside the GOP, and thanks to MAC, now we cannot have a consensus yet.
MAC's Duty is to Debate Obama and explain to the Nation why we should trust him!!!!!

Barrack, I'm on your side. Dear Senator Obama,
Your job is being a Senator.
Pappy76248 3 years ago
It is so obvious Obama has done a lot of research and work into solving America's issues. Only a sincere person would devote so much effort unlike others who do just enough to make everything look good to win the election. The bible's term for this is "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing". That is what comes to mind when I hear and see McCain.

jillb00 3 years ago

Thing is Obama and McCain wouldn't even be in the same room as the committee leaders on this bailout.
This meeting with GWBush is merely a photo-op. I think that Obama has a handle on the this situation.
To the poster that mentions that Obama should have a hand in this, as next POTUS, he can have input, but this is about our democracy put to a vote, and our right as constituents should be contacting our congresspeople and letting them know how we feel.
kashleeen 3 years ago
Sure, but McLame wants to cancel the debates because he knows he will lose. And he for sure wants to cancel the Sarah Failin debate because he knows what will happen. He and Obama aren't even on the committee that is working on the proposal, so there is no need to for them to work on it! They are just distracting those who are working on the proposal from their work if they go to Washinton! They should just communicate with the people who are involved and stay on top of it. Debate now!
writemrbond 3 years ago 23
