@JerichoDitch2 - Diesel was basically a waste product until someone figured out a diesel engine could run on it. Before then, it was just dumped or otherwise disposed of... I remember when diesel was cheaper than gasoline... Now since the low sulfur stuff was formulated... it is more expensive.

The funny thing is that gasoline was also a waste product before the gasoline engine became popular...early oil refining was done for kerosene (for lamp oil) because it cost a fraction of whale oil. Gasoline was dumped into the river, enough to make the surface flammable (in the case of the Ohio River, anyway)
