I love most of jimmy's whole galaxy of sounds. But his leslie sound on this track is superb. Also does anyone know if he used the leslie distortion in the studio, or is he using a treble booster, or what?
I don't want to tell you how long it took me to learn how to play this. Now, Jimmy didn't just have to play it, he had to think it up in the first place. Those who think he's and "overrated" guitar player should reflect upon that for a moment. Just sayin'.
i was lucky enough to have been 18 when they toured here first in 1969, and i went and saw them two nights in a row for 3.50 dollars a night. i stood 20 feet in front of them as they blasted their whole first album. they would do 2 sets each night so they did 6 songs the first set,,then 6 more later the same night. if u weren't right in front like i was,,you'd swear they were just 'faking it' and that the album was really playing over the speakers,,thats how true they were to the original sound.
@ctboycasper68 Not really, the drummer in my band plays this song just fine with a cheap yamaha kick. Bonham just used to adjust his spring tension really high. The triplet on the kick is just something that bonham made popular, because he fucking rules :)
YES!!! Dude, I'm only 19 and I've been a super-fan of LZ for like five years or so when I first heard Kashmir. I was like "DAMN! THAT is real music." And from then on I was in love. Unfortunately, I first heard the Godsmack cover of this song, and not saying I don't like their cover, but nothing beats Led Zep. I wish I'd known they had originally done this long ago. Now I feel really, really stupid.
What's Robert Plant's gripe with "Brown Eyes" does he think they're not as nice as Blue, Green or Hazel? I find that line in the song a bit conceited!
I believe these pics are their very first gig as a band. Copenhagen Sept. 7 1968. They were The Yardbirds. For about a month on tour before they went with Led Zeppelin.
If cameras were trained on you as much as they are on rock stars, there would be be many, many 'hilarious' pictures capturing a split-second facial contortion of yours. Equally there would be many pics that would make you feel pretty good about yourself.
