It won't ever sound like a mustang cause a mustang is a mustang. It won't sound like a V8 camaro because in the higher rpms it will be too high pitched. My advice would be to keep it stock cause you will be wasting your time. I had a chevy truck with a 4.3 with exhaust on it and it wasn't what I thought it was cracked up to be. If you want the sound, buy a V8. Just my opinion though.

doesnt have anything to do with back pressure...has to do with exhaust velocity, you want 0 back pressure... but you want the right diameter pipe to make the right exhaust velocity that corresponds to your powerband, with proper exhaust velocity the better it can scavenge out all of the spent gasses during valve overlap, thus, your valves will be just fine...id suggest sticking with the 2.25 to 3 inch range. atleast on 350=ish v8's
