Foxtrot, it's because the framerate of the camera that was used to film it is not fast enough to show the rotors spinning at real speed. Similarly, if you look at car wheels in tv commercials, sometimes they appear to be spinning backwards despite the car moving forward.

It lacks in the scale detail department but at least the mechanics seem real nice. Flown like a true SPORT scale heli. Is there a reason the horizontal stab is not installed, that really stands out. A big heli like that begs for scale detail.

@MrJuno6 it is an optical illusion due to the video camera shutter speed. If the rotor rpm matched the shutter speed, you would see the blades in a fixed position making it look like they are not turning.

So whats the point of making really big rc models that don't really do anything that the real life sized version can? What a waste of time and cash! To me it's like making a small version of the international space station, and putting it in low earch orbit. But it just floats there, thats it.

If this thing could just do some basic 3d stuff, everyone would want to check it out. The one thing that would really make this vid cool, is if the heli flew into the mc guy!

A good many people appreciate the beauty of watching full scale aircraft fly and by building scale rc versions they get to capture that moment whenever they want to far more cheaply than flying the real thing. 3D helicopters are available for doing 3D. There's no need for scale models to do so. While I can appreciate the necessary skill it takes to fly 3D, one 3D flight looks like another to me. That said, I wouldn't bash what they do..
