Rob hedden had to cut the New York scenes due to Paramount won't allow the budget for him to spend a lot of times in New York. So he had to rewrite the script and spending more time on the boat.

The concept was good idea, having Jason "take" New York, they could have made this film a success, if they did it right, and had the film take place in New York for the whole time. It would've been epic, imagine if they made Freddy Krueger take New York..and the tagline could've been "A Nightmare on Elm Street: Freddy Takes New York." "The City That Never Sleeps Is About To Have A Nightmare...."

The acting in this film is amazing. With an all-star cast I would not expect anything less, but it really does astound you the way all of the players are in sync with each other. i thought this was quite cool. The change of scene actually worked for me, i had got long bored of exactly the same settings at Crystal Lake with the same sequence of events. At least its the same plot but at a different setting.

The original Era of Jason was the best 1-4. Then it went downhill after that and by part 6 they turn him into a supernatural being that cant be killed and it just turns stupid. i do think they are on the right track though by making a epic remake.

I agree, the first four are the only real good Fridays. But his one had a New York appeal to it and I love the soundtrack. Not to be taken seriously, it's fun.

I always thought this entire franchise was incredibly overrated. But if you look at it as a series of movies that don't take themselves too seriously, it's bearable. And as stupid as it was to make Freddy VS Jason, at least they found a somewhat clever way to tie the two characters together in that film.
JasonX, on the otherhand, (as much as sequels that inevitably take place in space fail, but still end up enjoyable; like Critters 4), sucked ENTIRELY.

I remember when I first saw this trailer... I knew it was Jason from the back but the music didn't fit, I was like WTF?!? Then at the end it made sense.. It was definitely different.

Interesting fact on this movie: Ken Kirzinger (Jason in Freddy vs Jason) was in this for a few seconds. He was in the final chae scene when Jason stormed into the cafe. He was the guyh Jason lifted up and threw at the mirror. Ken is a really big and strong guy, but Kane Hodder (Jason in 7-Jason X) is really strong as well. He has to be if he could lift and throw Ken with oly the support of a small spring. It was mostly all him. I liked some parts of this film, but the visions and end sucked.
Very little of the movie was in New York. Would have loved to see more random people die. The end was really weird though. I guess he didn't really become a kid again, I suppose it was to show how his childhood fear influenced him and how even though he does swim, he still fears the water. He was much less deformed as a kid in this though. Part 9 never explains his ressuretion. Can't believe he killed Kelly Hu though!
dude this looks like a low budget film, hence why they used the boat instead of say Central Park or even the Bronx like they do in the movie NightHawks.
Sometimes low budget films are good. One fine example is the Ginger Snaps series. But I'm just saying the way tht young Jason looked REALLY bugged me. He could never just have one look, and none of them were like the original. I don't mind some changes, but the fact they made him look completely healthy at times was horrible! And hey kills on a boat are somewhat creepier, cause they are harder to escape the bad guy in and he could be anywhere. Plus he had to hit the big apple somehow.
jason will always rule dominance in the series of slasher movies, they dont run of ideas they just want to get jason out of crystal lake and to new areas.
They shoulda stopped at 4 with the The Final Friday...they soo ran out of ideas...Jason battling a girl with powers, Jason goes to the New York, Jasons heart going from person to person, Jason in space...geeez thats the reason the franchise went downhill and sucked

No it's not! And the film does not suck! I actually like it. I'd even go as far as call it the last GREAT Friday the 13th movie. Jason Goes to Hell was very dissapointing. Jason X and Freddy vs. Jason weren't so great either but both had their moments.

The original Era of Jason was the best 1-4. Then it went downhill after that and by part 6 they turn him into a supernatural being that cant be killed and it just turns stupid. i do think they are on the right track though by making a epic remake.

I always thought this entire franchise was incredibly overrated. But if you look at it as a series of movies that don't take themselves too seriously, it's bearable. And as stupid as it was to make Freddy VS Jason, at least they found a somewhat clever way to tie the two characters together in that film.
JasonX, on the otherhand, (as much as sequels that inevitably take place in space fail, but still end up enjoyable; like Critters 4), sucked ENTIRELY.

Interesting fact on this movie: Ken Kirzinger (Jason in Freddy vs Jason) was in this for a few seconds. He was in the final chae scene when Jason stormed into the cafe. He was the guyh Jason lifted up and threw at the mirror. Ken is a really big and strong guy, but Kane Hodder (Jason in 7-Jason X) is really strong as well. He has to be if he could lift and throw Ken with oly the support of a small spring. It was mostly all him. I liked some parts of this film, but the visions and end sucked.

Very little of the movie was in New York. Would have loved to see more random people die. The end was really weird though. I guess he didn't really become a kid again, I suppose it was to show how his childhood fear influenced him and how even though he does swim, he still fears the water. He was much less deformed as a kid in this though. Part 9 never explains his ressuretion. Can't believe he killed Kelly Hu though!

Sometimes low budget films are good. One fine example is the Ginger Snaps series. But I'm just saying the way tht young Jason looked REALLY bugged me. He could never just have one look, and none of them were like the original. I don't mind some changes, but the fact they made him look completely healthy at times was horrible! And hey kills on a boat are somewhat creepier, cause they are harder to escape the bad guy in and he could be anywhere. Plus he had to hit the big apple somehow.

No it's not! And the film does not suck! I actually like it. I'd even go as far as call it the last GREAT Friday the 13th movie. Jason Goes to Hell was very dissapointing. Jason X and Freddy vs. Jason weren't so great either but both had their moments.
