  • I'm seriously learning a lot from this. I can understand all of this, but there are tips I'm getting from this that aren't useful to anyone else. xD

  • @timaeus22222 lolz

I guess there are some tips useful for me as well.

  • @PhantomKirbz I actually looked at his screen and saved his hakan pad and side trance synth Zebra presets into my computer labeled "Zircon - Hakan Pad" and "Zircon - LFO Side Trance Synth". :P

  • @timaeus22222 O_O

You just read my mind wtf

  • @PhantomKirbz I'm real good at that. ;D

  • This is what I heard: "super complicated stuff, super complicated stuff, more super complicated stuff, Smack My Bitch Up, super complicated stuff, ethnic instruments, more super complicated stuff..."

Goddamn, I think I can lay to rest any possible dream I may have had to learn how to remix songs.

  • It looks really complicated...for me at least haha. But very good job with the remix by the way.

  • Mr. Aversa, you're quite the talent, you know how to use your software and you created a kickin' remix. Your wife also has quite the set of pipes too. Awesome to say the least!

  • Wow, I have absolutely NO IDEA what ANY of this means and I'm actually a little intimidated. Are you a wizard?

  • hey man how is it going? just wanted to ask you what version of FL studio are you using and another thing, can your record your own voice or certain sounds and then synthezise the sound so that it sounds like a guitar or piano? I'll appreaciate any response.thanks

  • YOU ARE A GOD.

  • Is this program Omnisphere?

  • @bgw119 I'm using FL Studio as my DAW/sequencer, but yeah as I mention in the video, I'm using Omnisphere for several of the sounds.

  • @zirconst Yeah, I figured that out eventually.. I got FL Studio, and I've been playing around with it for the last 12 hours.. literally. How did you learn how to do all this? There's obviously a learning curve, but id kill for a quicker way to learn. Also, how do you get your patterns and tracks in windows on top of each other like that??? My playlist window consists ONLY of tracks..! It's annoying.

BTW this video is great. Nice job.

  • Which link does it have the same tunes and beats? :o

  • I LOVE YOUR FLSTUDIO

  • Really nice layering, especially with the ethnic guitars/lead sounds. So many different elements nicely working together to create a really exotic atmosphere. Good work!

  • -]. People say Omnisphere is for lazy musicians cause it's just patches and musicians aren't programming a sound from scratch, What do you have to say about that? .[-

  • @TEMPHUiBIS musicians != programmers. Most of the time.

  • -]. Rah so Zebra makes pads as well .[-

  • Better than Deadmau5.

    'Nuff said.

  • Bawss ass vid and track.

    Can you do Deejay???

  • @BlackHartThaGod Umm have you listen to Super Street Fighter 2 HDR fo Dee Jay?

  • Fantastic job! bravo! love the song and hakan is one hell of a character! he has some crazy mixups when oiled!

Love hakan! thumbs up if you play with hakan!

  • dude your intense

  • this is so sick dude u should just do all the remix tracks man.

  • 7:50 love it

  • Brilliant and informative video, and a stonking tune too. Inspirational! :)

  • man i make more Hip-Hop RnB but i love all kinds of music and i have to say man your amazing bro ive been playing with FL since 4 but didnt get serious till about 6..i would love too chill with you man,lol

  • Man I need to learn how to use FL so I can make a Fei Long remix.

  • Man, that was fantastic!

  • Awesome man, you got some skills, your clearly better than me in FL :P

  • fre nice aem iraqe tob

  • 9:35 - The drums are sooo epic!

  • @zirconst I stumbled upon your music when Pandora played it through my Daft Punk radio station. I loved it so much that I looked more into more of your stuff off "Antigravity". I just have to say, the ideas and creativity you possess and the talent to make it all possible is incredible. You're a musical genius, plain and simple.

  • Zircon, you deserve much praise for taking the time to detail your techniques to emerging composers and arrangers. How many instances of Kontakt are you running?

I'd like to think creating music like this is as easy as you describe, but as a few have already noted, most of us can't afford a 6GB DDR3 I7 processor! Great job on the video!

  • @ConforMIDI Thanks man! But really my rig is several generations behind. My RAM only cost about $75 total (DDR2) and my processor is not only outclassed by the Core line, but they don't even sell it anymore. :P But anyway, the total plugin count is: 1 Kontakt4 (10 instruments), 1 Omnisphere (7 instr), 14x Zebra 2, 4 soundfont players, 1 Synth1, 1 Dimension Pro, 1 Stylus RMX (2 parts) and about 90 FX plugins (mostly FL ones which are very low CPU).

  • @zirconst are you using FL 9.5 PB1C?

  • @ConforMIDI No sir, using 9.1 at the moment, but I've downloaded 9.5 and will switch soon.

  • @zirconst also I don't know if you noticed, but your levels for the Oud from EWQL RA and santoor at 3:18 - 3:21 peak. Then at 6:09 - 6:15 the same thing happens. Your volume fader is set to max... is this what you intended? I thiink I may have noticed this in some of your songs while listening to them. Though I assume you've added a limiter somewhere in the project, you might want want to have another look at these projects.

  • @ConforMIDI Oh yeah, I always keep a limiter on the master tracks at all times. In this case I also have my compressor on it too. A lot of the time, my individual mixer tracks are actually going above 0dB and then getting saturated/compressed when they hit the master. The key is balancing stuff out so that doesn't sound overdone.

  • Haha, you must have a hell of a system!

My 2,40ghz dual with 4gb ram would have died with that project probably, haha!

In fact when i make my music with lots of sounds/synths, i export a wave from the project, and then continue working on the project in another project file, because of my cpu/ram issues! haha.

  • Very impressive stuff man. I find it very interesting how people put together music like this :D

  • Hey man! This is phenomenal. It's my favorite kind of music (goa/psy), and you nailed it. This piece in particular really reminds me of Juno Reactor! Keep on making music. :DD

  • lol having omnisphere may not make u rich, but all the east west stuff IS

  • you should post more of these 'making' videos, very enjoyable!

  • I love this song.

I've had non-gamers ask me about Time to Oil Up when I'm listening to it in public, it's fantastic.

  • @lilxghettodragon Definitely not rich :P But when music is your living, you need the right tools. Omnisphere is one of my must-have plugins.

  • what kind of pc and audio interface do you have. lol your shit seems to not lag like my pc, especially omnisphere.

  • @helterskelter139 Presonus Firebox for the audio interface. My custom PC has an Intel Q9450 2.66ghz quad core with 6gb of RAM and several TB of storage. It's hard to push this thing to the limit, and the new Core i7 is even better!

  • @zirconst yo man thats a real intricate piece, very good. i have a q6600 and 4gb of ram and an maudio fasttrackusb the new very cheap one. im thinking about upgrading because FL farts out on me if i try to load a few vsts. also how good is the firebox for vocals. my maudio only records in mono, then i have to copy the right channel to the left to make it stereo. do you think that affects the quality of the recording? i dont know hehe thanks for answering my questions!

  • @helterskelter139 No problem man! The Firebox is a very solid interface. However for making vocals sound better, your mic, mic position and room are more important than interface. Recording in mono and then copying it over won't degrade the quality, but you can just record your vocals in mono and then import them in your project that way - no issues with that.

  • @zirconst yea i got a decent mic.. at4033cl.. i just dont get good results. im using it near my computer and theres a lot of noise etc and i just dont feel i know what im doing hahah. i use FL too man. you seem like you might have connections to IL developers lol. you should make a thread on youtube and ask ppl what would make it better. i would add 'swing sliders' near the volume/pan for each channel in the stepseq, multiple playlists so u can arrange shit, multiscreen support, a new vst .

  • It's awesome to learn from a professional for free. Thank you so much, you just rock dude.

  • Good stuff! It's really fun to see how it's done.

  • Excellent. Time to Oil Up was one of my favorite of your remixes. Its great to see behind the scenes. Thanks zircon.
