  • Hot Damn I tried this technique with my daughter and I can not believe the height she gets now. To each his own this seems to work so good for her, she can't wait to show her coach when she goes to cheer next week! I am so glad I came across this video! Thanks So Much!

  • @TheRosemaryMillar

you have no idea how happy this makes me =]

I have a newer tuck video btw if you havent seen it, it might hep also.

If you have video of her tuck before and after I could really use it for my website...

Shameless plug, I know, but thanks for the comment :)

  • @CoachFrank203

I broke my camera last week I was kicking myself after she got it using your ideas. But I will be glad to send you a video of her before and after as soon as I replace my broken one. Now I just have to get her to set up coming out of her backhand spring she is a head thrower. LOL.

  • nice one x

  • hi, ive nearly got my back tuck but i dont jump high enough, please reply

  • @Gymnasticlover100 from the video I saw on your channel it looks like your jumping back a bit too much, you shouldnt be landing that far away from your takeoff, when a tuck is long its also low.

You're also doing a bit of a double bounce, try doing a straight jump as high as you can and touch a wall at the highest point, do a double bounce and see if you go as high... you should get higher with the straight jump.

  • @Gymnasticlover100 last try shooting another video with a side view, its easier to see what your doing right or wrong.

  • anyone else looking for jason lee?

  • Boring

  • @UDFrocks well it shouldn't be if you're really trying to get your backtuck and have some sort of attention span.

  • i work at a gym but im never have done gymnastics until recently. one of the coaches instructed me in a back tuck in just a few minutes and i landed it my second try. i noticed that all the ones shown in your video gainer their flip and land a considerable distance back, which im told isnt good. my coach said the best way to land where you start is to keep the chest up more in the sit and put the head back only when youre at your highest point when you pull your knees to your chest. explain?

  • @abelincon857 first off, congrats on your tuck!

gainering a backtuck means actually traveling forward (a lot of martial arts trickers and parkour guys do this), back tucks usually do travel backward a bit, though the straighter you jump the more height you get, the gymnasts do standing fulls are pulling hard with their shoulders which is taking them back a bit more than a regular tuck, the other girl was doing a drill off a springboard (its always a good idea not to land close to those).

  • @abelincon857

I mentioned before most coaches teach an upright position, its the way I learned mine, but that doesnt mean its the most efficient. Teaching something because its the way you learned and the way other coaches say is right is what most coaches stick to. I like thinking outside the box, searching for the possibility of better ways. I always look to how the top gymnasts and tumblers in the world perform their skills and see if I can find some flaws in the ways I've been taught.

  • @abelincon857

you'll come to a point in your coaching career when you stop taking the opinions of others over what you believe to be true, if you can back it up with results then you can hold your head high and let the skeptics continue to do things their way while you out perform them. Good luck to you, thanks for your comment.

  • I tried everything you said in this video and I did a perfect back tuck on the first try. Thank you for posting! Can you perhaps do a video on how to do an onodi?

  • @chizzyoma ok, first of all, you just made my day! thats great!! congrats.

did you have a tuck before that at any time?

I've never thought about making an onodi video... I'll see if i can find some videos and put something together soon.

really happy about your tuck, take care. :]

  • nice video, but Reggie's beatbox is improvable, but nice beat though ^^

  • awesome! great video!!!

  • @staybymysidetonight thank you :]

  • @OMGgirl1001 will do, but can you backroll? thats prob the most important drill for you to work if you dont have it. it will make a difference.

  • Good tutorial! If I make a (new) video of my tumbling, can you give me pointers and tell me what I'm doing wrong?

  • @SexxyKevin sure, be happy to.

  • @OMGgirl1001 well first off let me ask a question, and I know this might sound silly but you'd be surprised how many "no's" I get from cheerleaders, lol, but can you do a backward roll....? If not work on it, try to keep your heels to your butt when you roll instead of kicking out to get yourself over. I'll make a video of some other drills to do.

Do you tuck when you try bouncing tucks on trampoline?

  • Thank you for this video. I have a group of level 4 cheerleaders learning there standing tuck . They have there running skills but this standing skill has been a tough uphill battle. I will try the information in the video and keep a video diary (lol) Best video I have seen by far thanks !

  • @DimetubeTV Wow, thanks, I'd love to hear the results, let me know if I can help out in any way, good luck ;]

  • @CoachFrank203 Last night I tried the new method with my daughter. She did not fall to her knees but she did not land it YET... she said this was was much easier and she felt like her legs were working finally working for her and her tummy was not sore like it was from using the old method of teaching. I will keep you updated & thanks again!

    Tera

  • @DimetubeTV thats awesome!! good for her, I wondering though if she is doing a good set then maybe she isnt tucking tight enough/ holding long enough (kicking open early)...

  • Hey, that was a fantastic tut. Just one thing: whenever I do back tucks, I gainer and move forwards. In a more drastic scenario I moved forwards so much (about 4 feet) that I landed straight on my head, and that happened twice. How do I stop this and land in the same spot as I took off from? Thanks!!!

  • @BrownJumps can you do back handsprings?

  • @CoachFrank203 No, I have a fear problem to be honest... :( I've done them into the foam pit before, and landed them. However, the technique is bad because I'd like to land in the same spot as I took off from, and I've smashed my face into the side of the pit from having that good technique.

  • @BrownJumps I'd hate to see you land on your face but it would help to see video of what your doing..... be safe though.

  • This was the BEST video I have seen online so far. GREAT job!

  • @StrickerNicole really?? wow, thanks. it wasnt getting as many views as I hoped, but I might post a back handspring one soon if my comp stops crashing, lol. Thanks for the comment ;]

  • Great vid Frank! great insight as always!!! and of course i love SJs standing full on the beam... sick!

  • @davec1717 thanks Dave, yeah she is a beast isnt she, lol. Hope I see video of your double soon....
