The Odyssey might be good but it looks like shit and is too expensive. If I were shopping for a van, Dodge would be my choice, especially with the Pentastar and revised interior.
@Shuffle3956 Don't worry, I've owned more Honda products than you ever will. In the past years however, they've been going downhill like Toyota and they just won't get my money this time around.
You guys are smoking crack. I just bought a 2012 Sienna and this this is way more stylish then the boring odyssey! look at the dash of the honda they have not updated that look since 1980's plus the lines of the van on the side are all crazy. you have straight track for the slidding door (in the sienna its hidden) and then the side back window is angled . real ugly. I got double power slide doors with back up camera blue tooth usb aux a crap load of cup holders. w/ controls on the S.wheel
The Sienna may be cheaper, but you get what you pay for. The Odyssey is quieter, smoother, there is more storage, the interior is well built and not cheap like the sienna, our EX-L has a cool box (refrigerator) and it has more space. The seats are more comfortable as well. The 6 speed auto in the sienna hunts for gears and still gets 3 MPG on the highway less than the Odyssey's 5 speed. Our EX-L does 31 MPG flawless.
@hondaftw1234 I agree. I checked out all the minivans at the LA Auto show a couple months ago and I was very-much turned off by the cheapness of the Sienna's interior. Specificially, the quality of the switch-gear, and the excessive amount of hard(er) plastics.
If Lexus or Acura made a minivan that would be my dream as far as tactile things go, but I wouldn't be able to afford it. In the absence of that, the Ody wins for me. (Planning to buy in April)
@amigajoe - agreed its not for tall people...fortunately for me my kid and parents are not above 5'5...which works well....but anyways on handling i have to give it to odyssey.
Honda is almost as horrible as Toyota these days.... both of them have failed steering linkages.
"Honda is recalling its 2012 Odyssey minivans because a retention nut for part of the front, lower right suspension may loosen and result in a loss of steering."
Im plannin on buying one of them. I always had in mind the Odyssey, but I will be moving to a "snow" place and will definitely need a 4WD! At the end the 4WD decided for the Toyota.
I like both minivans. My Family has both of them. The Honda odyssey is top number one but I wonder why I see more of the 2011 siennas on the roads these days.
@aznboi0118 because unlike this video owner....real people are sensisble and know very well that for Day to Day activity like smart key, automatic thrid row seating, lounge seating which is not even listed in odyssey.
@naveenj18 I completely agree in regards to the Smart Key. It is bizarre that Honda doesn't even offer it in their top-end models. As far as Lounge seating, have you actually tried using it, and if so, are you taller than 5'7 ? For anyone close to six feet tall the lounge seating isn't usable in real-world because your feet get cramped against the front seats. Automatic third row I could live without, but I could see many people valuing it.
Two reasons for Toyota (1) Exterior look; Honda can put as much features as they want to, it is odd to see. (2) The price; 8 passenger Sienna XLE $34,100 Honda Odyssey Touring $41,180 that's a $7,080 difference between the two. Plus it’s almost 2012 and right now where I am I see twice as many 2011 Siannas than 2011 Odysseys, just saying.
@larzproporath You see more Siennas primarily because they are less expensive, with a starting price-point that is several thousand less than the Honda. Doesn't mean they are better, or better value, just less expensive.
Again,Honda beats Toyota with its Odyssey Minivan.all Honda vehicles are better-looking than Toyota ones.Just look closely at the Sienna and the Odyssey, and tell me which one looks better.HONDA rules TOYOTA.the best Japanese auto maker.
@NotARealUTubeAccount Exterior-wise "I" like the sienna better, but I also care very much about the driving dynamics and for that I agree that the odyssey is far superior, also the interior is much nicer on the odyssey. But Hondas are typically a bit overpriced.
mmmm. which one is more ugly, I think they tight in that category. where are those cool looking mini van that from Japan and europe? look into Mazda 5, the only real cool MINI van out there. not one of these giant oversized.......
Sienna wins for me here is my take Sienna more power, 6 speed smooth transmission vs 5 speed on odyssey. Most people will buy Sienna LE $31500 or Odyssey EX $32000 with this price sienna has this option odyssey Back up Camera, Blue tooth with Audio from cellphone, USB for Ipod integration, Roof rail, window Shade 2nd and 3rd row, arm rest on 2nd row seating . and looking at video you can tell sienna take off faster and stop Fast,To top it off it comes with 2yr/25k Toyota care. easy picking
you actually consider power when buying a minivan when the 0-60 is only .2 difference? wow, i guess its impossible to please everyone. I could see considering overall ride quality/ suspension/ cornering/ steering. Out of those characteristics the honda is the hands down winner.6 speed is also available on the odyssey. you just listed a bunch of options the odyssey and the sienna share. but the choice is simple when you can get your kids to soccer practice a second faster. easy pick?
That is the whole point odyssey cost about $3500 more to get most feature sienna offer for $31000 and you'll still not get all the feature like USB Ipod intregration, roofrail, 2yr Maintanance plan and Weaker Engine &Transmission, plus sienna looks way better then odyssey. And Yes I'm not crazy about .2 sec quickness but when I have my family onboard 5ft sooner stop is easy Picking for me and that is why I have Sienna setting on my drivway
5 feet sooner? I think you would agree a significantly better handling vehicle is much "safer" than a vehicle that stops 5 feet shorter. the "recliner" feature is idiotic, it makes the seats very stiff and uncomfortable. looks are an opinion, both look like a van which arent overly nice to look at. fit and finish is not in the same league as the honda. materials of lesser quality are used to trim out the dash, which is ugly and very downscale by comparision.last reason, resale value
let me admit honda has little better quility dashboard & arm rest But sienn has more useable feature. This is a minivan people care about features all occupant can use and their safety, Resale value I would weather get $1500 less when I'm ready to sell then pay $4000 extra Pluse tax , Interest and compromise with more important feature which I will enjoy till i own. I'm buying a mini van not sport car or Sport sedan but if I want handling Sienna SE is available.
@pacificislander... Have u really done ur research on the recall? Or even the people trying to sue Toyota? HOW ABOUT THE RUN AWAY PRIUS? Please watch this if you value your life and your family if you're considering buying a toyota vehicle... Type this on your youtube search bar. "Toyota recalls 4 million vehicles amid unintended acceleration problems" I dont own an oddyssey neither a toyota sienna. I am just reminding you how could toyota vehicle be such a dangerous vehicle.
PLEASE READ!! Do you all remember the massive recall on millions of toyota cars?? Have you seen the news of numerous tragic accidents envolving toyota cars to accelerate and computer problems?? Do you want to gamble your OWN LIFE and your KIDS just because you think toyota looks hot?? well if you think it looks hot, you'll only not look hot, you'll feel it when you BURN with it and explode!!! Please consider other make and do some research of toyota's recalls of dangerous cars...
@zozo1899 TOYOTA SIENNA = DEADLY.. please remember the recent massive recalls of toyota vehicles! Dont gamble your own life and your kids life just because you think toyota sienna looks good.
i actually went to both toyota and honda dealerships for minivan and to be honest the Honda Odyssey is worth the money. Not only is it worth the money, it has better gas and it felt spacious and cheaper if you compare the EX-L of Honda to XLE of Toyota. the one up the sienna has in my opinion is probably the looks but thts as far as i'm going to go. ALSO taxi's use the Sienna so thats a downer...
sienna xle is $1500.00 cheaper than odyssey when i find in turecar.com,plus odyssey does not give you the roof rack,6 speed transmission. and there is no smart key and jbl 605 watts system. you have to buy tourring ellite to get the 6 speed and 650 watts with no namebrand, and there is no smart key. and the tourring ellite is $5000-6000 more than xle.
websites give different range i did the same. but you compare ex-l navigation to xle navigation w addition to your roof racks which can be replaced w roof bars for my odyssey (really no use for roof materials but looks nice to add) odyssey is cheaper by 3k on official vehicle site. idk its whtever you add to the car that makes the price range different. also w 6 speed...really not going to race w a minivan. and there is a smart key...how else can i lock, start, etc from my room?
Honda Odyssey is the ugliest minivan out there next to the Nissan Quest, besides who can say they got a 2011 Honda Odyssey SE! No body can! Only the people who have the 2011 Toyota Sienna SE (Sport Edition)
Yes, all automotive journalists give a thumb up for the Odyssey but as a consumer, I cannot see spending $5000 more on a similarly equipped Odyssey. I was in the market for a minivan two weeks ago, I walked into a Honda dealership to test drive a Touring model. The sticker has an additional $2500.00 mark-up called something like 'market adjusted value.' He did knock off this mark-up but did not budge on the MSRP. It was 41,810 (I think) ... see below
I then walked into a Toyota dealer the next day to look at an XLE 8-seat with premium package. I think it was listed for around $40,500. Salesman immediately cut it down to $46,500 and I was able to knock it further down to $35,000. Both are similarly equipped and I save almost $7,000. Cannot beat that.
@tsocutekids was that $35000 after $1000 incentive for not taking factory incentive. I need that low APR, not sure if you were able to get that too...
What you say About factory recalls isn't completely true we have had a Toyota for many years and have recently bought a new one and we haven't had problems, it just drives and works like a charm.
I myself would pick the Toyota because it has way better engines than Honda plus it is more reliable, Toyota NEVER breaks down unless you have modified it or tinkered with it yourself.
@FSXsimulatormaster You're just a Toyota fan, that's all.I will always stick to Honda no matter what others who don't like Honda say about it.Toyota made headline news with its gas pedal issues a couple of years ago. What did you hear about Honda during the last few years? both Toyota and Honda are Japanese cars, but Honda is the best of all Japanese car in my own personal opinion, and I will always drive HONDA,HONDA,HONDA.
Honda and Toyota are both tied but Quest is garbadge, but if you want a Van that gets the best Miles per Gallon, you buy the odyssey, if you want a Van that has a backseats of a Maybach, you buy the Sienna, if you want a Van taht doesn't look like a van but looks more like a Full Suze SUV you can buy a quest but I should warn you the quest interrior is much smaller than both the honda and Toyota.
Did anyone actually look at crash tests? Or all you all that ignorant to judge the minivans by their looks. To be quite frank Toyota has way too MANY recalls for bad breaks so I don't think I would ever recommend it to a friend or anyone for that matter.
I have the 2011 Honda Odyssey EX and Love the refinements since my 2007 model. And set the Cruise Control at 68mph on the Highway and get 30mpg!!!
BUT, and a Really BIG, which you will all discover soon... is that Honda did NOT RESOLVE the Front Brakes Issue that has plagued this Heavy little Van!
I am on the Road all day every day, and as a result, have 34,000 miles on my 2011 that I purchased 4-1/2 months ago. Continued…
My 2011 Odyssey is going in for it's third, Front-Brake Job! .... The Front Rotors were replaced at 11,800 miles, then the new ones were turned at 23,500 miles, and now, at 34,000 miles, the Front Brake Rotors and Pads will be replaced.
And... and... the Front Struts have gone bad. I have owned a lot of new cars in my Life, continued…
but never, ever had to do any kind of brake work on any of them, before 50,000 miles... let alone THREE BRAKE JOBS in 34,000 Miles!
So, BE WARNED... if you feel any amount of "shimmy" or "vibration" out of your front-end when you brake... especially when you first start to brake at highway speeds, then immediately take it your Dealer. The warranty on Brakes is only the first 12,000 miles, but you can probably get service after this since it has now become a widely-known issue!
this is a biased review. from the beginning he is routing for odessy. the third row seats in sienna are more comfortable. the third row seats in sienna can be folded electronically.
there is dual moon roof option in sienna.
good looks
slight difference in driven which you don't notice unless you want to compare.
@Shew8619 Well we use every inch of the car my 3 kids will be in the second row and our parents drive regulare with us so I tried to go in the back row but that is not easy if there is carseats in the second row now that wont be a total problem with my inlaws if they are stuck in the back LOL but for others it can be very oncomfortable if you have to be a sort of houdiny to get in and out imagine if you are a +size person then you have to check in as Cargo LOL ;)
@MrAlexChryler ummm NO! The 2011 Nissan Quest looks like a hearse for your information. And you need to learn how to spell before you try to insult or degrade anything. :)
Saw my first Honda Odyssey in it's current iteration in my neighborhood recently. I love Honda, but Good God, this thing is HIDEOUS. It looks like a hearse, and no amount of brand loyalty is going to encourage me to overlook the exterior styling. To each his own of course. And, although no Toyota is ever going to be as fun to drive as a Honda, if I were buying a new minivan tomorrow, the Sienna takes the win for me. Now, about those prices for both...
odyssey is just for asses while sienna is for the awesome people plus the odyssey looks like a fuernal car plus no it doesn't diliver more stuff for the money - le=ex le has backup camera, and bluetooth ex-n/a
ok something is totally not right I am from Europe and tall the last row it definitely more comfortable in the sienna and not in the odyssey. I test drove them both today I do like them both but if I would not know the brands and before I would choose for the Honda but after driving I will decide to go for the Toyota I don't think this review is very honest..! Test drive them yourself and you will notice the difference however they are both great cars but I think the Toyota wins this one..!
Id rather have the Sienna. Yes it doesnt have as good of an interior and yes it doesnt handle as well. But its a MINI VAN. Its supposed to ride good and be comfortable. Thats what the Sienna does. And just look at it, it looks great!
You have to get an Odyssey EX-L to get the best features (Back-up camera, Bluetooth, rear-dimming mirrors), and the Odyssey doesn't offer AWD at all, and 6-speed auto only on $40k models
If you want a firmer suspension, you can get the Sienna SE, but many people want a smoother ride, not more precise handling
The only thing that I like about the toyota sienna more is the moon roof. A big window on the roof which the oddesey does not have. It only has the sun roof.
@piplup707 conspiracy theories...i think some of the scores weigh more than others...like a quiz vs midterm ...driving dynamics are def more than ex. more cup holders...
@1276marinwood ppl dont buy it for performance, ppl buy it for vacation and gas...which have better gas mileage...i dont think so, the odyssey does and btw how many hp does the odyssey have....how many hp does the sienna have ?
@coolgames14 Unlike you I buy better quality products, and I HAVE MONEY! Toyota is the number 1 Selling car company in the world, then Lexus, then GM, then Ford, then Kia, then Hyundai, then Honda. So SHUT THE HELL up if you don't know what it is you are talking about...THANKYOU!
@mpalm887 I know, exactly what you mean. I still think the Toyota Sienna is better looking inside and out, and the Honda Odyssey is CLEARLEY BUTT UGLY!
@1276marinwood Me stupid? Why not? Honda is sure in the dumps like some other company *cough cough* At least it has curves and style and a great interior, the Sienna looks generic and looks like the deformed product of a crossbreed between a bland Camry and a Nissan Cube and the interior is reminiscent of Tupperware. The Quest (my favourite of the three) may be boxy but it pulls it off better and it makes up for it with a great interior unlike the Sienna /
@tokyokurisu YOU ARE STILL STUPID The Odyssey is the generic one. The Sienna has MORE CURVES and STYLE than the Honda!!!!! The Sienna actually came out into the 21st century...IDIOT!
@1276marinwood What are you going to tell me next? That the Corolla is better than the Civic, Elantra, Focus and Cruze? Face it, the glory days of Toyota are done. They haven't been good since the 90's, wake up and look around at the competition. With the recalls and quality issues and the growing competition, light is now being shined upon Toyota for what it really is, disposable trash. The only customers Toyota has left are you ignorant, naive Toyotard drones.
@rsxzx6r really? maybe on a flat highway, but when my friend was in it, he hit his head on the celling going over a speed bump. LMAO And when I was in one, there was so much road noise I was almost yelling to talk with people.
personally i think the 2011 Nissan quest wins the battle with it's gorgeous interior that looks like the infinity interiors. and Toyota what the hell are u doing?!... ur interior quality is getting worse and worse
In the long run the Honda Odyssey and the Toyota Sienna are going to be the most reliable and have the highest resale value of the bunch!! Not to mention safest also!!

i actually went to both toyota and honda dealerships for minivan and to be honest the Honda Odyssey is worth the money.

@HooplaTime
sienna xle is $1500.00 cheaper than odyssey when i find in turecar.com,plus odyssey does not give you the roof rack,6 speed transmission. and there is no smart key and jbl 605 watts system. you have to buy tourring ellite to get the 6 speed and 650 watts with no namebrand, and there is no smart key. and the tourring ellite is $5000-6000 more than xle.
henrrychen0917 6 months ago
@henrrychen0917
websites give different range i did the same. but you compare ex-l navigation to xle navigation w addition to your roof racks which can be replaced w roof bars for my odyssey (really no use for roof materials but looks nice to add) odyssey is cheaper by 3k on official vehicle site. idk its whtever you add to the car that makes the price range different. also w 6 speed...really not going to race w a minivan. and there is a smart key...how else can i lock, start, etc from my room?

Yes, all automotive journalists give a thumb up for the Odyssey but as a consumer, I cannot see spending $5000 more on a similarly equipped Odyssey. I was in the market for a minivan two weeks ago, I walked into a Honda dealership to test drive a Touring model. The sticker has an additional $2500.00 mark-up called something like 'market adjusted value.' He did knock off this mark-up but did not budge on the MSRP. It was 41,810 (I think) ... see below
tsocutekids 7 months ago
I then walked into a Toyota dealer the next day to look at an XLE 8-seat with premium package. I think it was listed for around $40,500. Salesman immediately cut it down to $46,500 and I was able to knock it further down to $35,000. Both are similarly equipped and I save almost $7,000. Cannot beat that.

Toyota is still way better than Honda.
What you say About factory recalls isn't completely true we have had a Toyota for many years and have recently bought a new one and we haven't had problems, it just drives and works like a charm.
I myself would pick the Toyota because it has way better engines than Honda plus it is more reliable, Toyota NEVER breaks down unless you have modified it or tinkered with it yourself.

monsoon3 6 months ago
@FSXsimulatormaster You're just a Toyota fan, that's all.I will always stick to Honda no matter what others who don't like Honda say about it.Toyota made headline news with its gas pedal issues a couple of years ago. What did you hear about Honda during the last few years? both Toyota and Honda are Japanese cars, but Honda is the best of all Japanese car in my own personal opinion, and I will always drive HONDA,HONDA,HONDA.
nostalgiamelancolia1 3 months ago
Honda and Toyota are both tied but Quest is garbadge, but if you want a Van that gets the best Miles per Gallon, you buy the odyssey, if you want a Van that has a backseats of a Maybach, you buy the Sienna, if you want a Van taht doesn't look like a van but looks more like a Full Suze SUV you can buy a quest but I should warn you the quest interrior is much smaller than both the honda and Toyota.
sideslide23 7 months ago

The warranty on Brakes is only the first 12,000 miles, but you can probably get service after this since it has now become a widely-known issue!

this is a biased review. from the beginning he is routing for odessy. the third row seats in sienna are more comfortable. the third row seats in sienna can be folded electronically.
there is dual moon roof option in sienna.
good looks
slight difference in driven which you don't notice unless you want to compare.
reddymatt 8 months ago
@Shew8619 Well we use every inch of the car my 3 kids will be in the second row and our parents drive regulare with us so I tried to go in the back row but that is not easy if there is carseats in the second row now that wont be a total problem with my inlaws if they are stuck in the back LOL but for others it can be very oncomfortable if you have to be a sort of houdiny to get in and out imagine if you are a +size person then you have to check in as Cargo LOL ;)

Passengertrains4ever 8 months ago
There is just no comparison between the third row of an Odyssey and the the third row of a Sienna! The Odyssey is far better!
Also the Honda is a Honda, Toyota just can't match Honda in reliability ! it doesn't get more reliable than a Honda.

ok something is totally not right I am from Europe and tall the last row it definitely more comfortable in the sienna and not in the odyssey. I test drove them both today I do like them both but if I would not know the brands and before I would choose for the Honda but after driving I will decide to go for the Toyota I don't think this review is very honest..! Test drive them yourself and you will notice the difference however they are both great cars but I think the Toyota wins this one..!

@tokyokurisu You must be STUPID, the Honda Odyssey SUCKS, can't you see how PLAIN it looks compared to the STYLE that the Sienna has?
1276marinwood 10 months ago
@1276marinwood Me stupid? Why not? Honda is sure in the dumps like some other company *cough cough* At least it has curves and style and a great interior, the Sienna looks generic and looks like the deformed product of a crossbreed between a bland Camry and a Nissan Cube and the interior is reminiscent of Tupperware. The Quest (my favourite of the three) may be boxy but it pulls it off better and it makes up for it with a great interior unlike the Sienna /
tokyokurisu 10 months ago
@tokyokurisu YOU ARE STILL STUPID The Odyssey is the generic one. The Sienna has MORE CURVES and STYLE than the Honda!!!!! The Sienna actually came out into the 21st century...IDIOT!
1276marinwood 10 months ago
@1276marinwood What are you going to tell me next? That the Corolla is better than the Civic, Elantra, Focus and Cruze? Face it, the glory days of Toyota are done. They haven't been good since the 90's, wake up and look around at the competition. With the recalls and quality issues and the growing competition, light is now being shined upon Toyota for what it really is, disposable trash. The only customers Toyota has left are you ignorant, naive Toyotard drones.
