  • "Gardol" was Colgate's trademark for the ingredient "Sodium N-Lauroyl Sarcosinate" (they pointed that out in their print ads by the end of the '50s). They don't use it these days, of course, but Arm & Hammer's toothpaste DOES contain the same ingredient, minus the "Gardol" identification. Announcer Ed Herlihy was more famous at the time for his commercials on "KRAFT TELEVISION THEATER", and virtually every Kraft-sponsored program through the '70s.
