i live in western iowa and herad about the mapleton tornado.... at school the next day my choir teacher said his mom lives there and she was eating a hamburger downtown while it happened! Then he said some old lady that lives by his mom, took out her hearing aids and read for a while that night! while a tornado was really close... The old lady didnt even know there was a torndo!

@devilzlin it leveled more than 100 homes,no one was killed and there was only one injury...pretty lucky if you ask me.

I feel bad for Mapleton....I live in Cherokee,Iowa...there was a tornado spotted a mile from my house but nothing like Mapleton....the only damaging thing we got was baseball size hail that damaged a lot of vehicles....My prayers go out to the folks in Mapleton....Glad everyone is ok!!

That particular tornado was 3/4 of a mile wide at one point, according to KDSN. Nice catch

they are putting it at a high EF2 or an EF3

Judging by the size it has to be a big EF-3 or an EF-4.

they aren't measured by size though...... you could have a 2-mile wide tornado and it only be an EF-2
