@CaIlidus OK buddy. Lemme see how well you take this. I know by experience it's not pleasant. As far as structure.. I don't care what structure you come from, you have to respect it. If you not, you get hurt. Bottom line.
example if you see both men are very open in some areas. I was trying to point them out if fighting with someone else who wasn't using MT. They would be vulnerable.
@CaIlidus, Muay Thai is what I use for my stand-up game, but I agree with you in regards to "these two fighters." I actually was uncertain (and still am) whether this was a fight or just loose sparring. They both just looked terrible if this "was" actually was a real fight. The big guy in yellow just lumbered around the rig like a giant sloth with boxing gloves on. No jabs, really. No use of angles. No strait or push kicks at all. And the "Elbow King" dropped his hands while still in range! Sad.
@CaIlidus . You are right because Muay Thai today have diverted from their traditional form into something for entertainment. The traditional form are only use for combat for war time and the real Masters who know the combat form will not ever use it as a sport or entertainment but for necessity.
the guy in the yellow is an idiot ...he should have been punishing the legs with those devasting leg kicks...the guy in the blue was wide open for them ....
the guy in the yellow shorts had SOOO many chances to just jab the other guy in the face... then he could just kick him then throw in some more shots and elbows. yet he just stands there...
you're missing hte true purpose of the elbow...to cut the brow and draw blood to blind and or scare the opponent.
and don't forget that a mauy thai fighter uses every part of the body to fight, even if they don't directly do damage (I.E. using the abdominals to generate power along with the rotation of the hips)
the true purpose of the elbow is to hold your arm together. in a fight, the elbow is used to inflict huge force upon the target, because its the hardest part of your upper body that can be utilized as such.
Myself and a couple of students were there October 2005 and again in 2006. I'll be going back to Thailand next Thursday but I'll be staying at FTX in Bangplee and then fighting in Pattaya. Small world, huh? Good luck in your future training/fighting! Do you have any of Phu's fights on video? I would love to see them. I hear he's champion now.
I agree Fuck america

I can see how a these Muay thai fighters are very limited, and can be defeated due to overuse of structure.

@KhanomRay
I didn't say MT in general.
Structure was probably a poor choice of word.
example if you see both men are very open in some areas. I was trying to point them out if fighting with someone else who wasn't using MT. They would be vulnerable.
Besides I always show respect for martial arts.

@CaIlidus muay thai fighters are limited and lose fights? Is that why the best pound for pound fighter in mma is a muay thai fighter?

@CaIlidus Some of the best strikers in the ufc are muay thai trained , so I can see your talking out your ass.

I can't believe they allow elbow strikes in a 'sport' setting. Madness. In a street fight, it's a great technique, but in a ring? Lunacy.

an elbow cant generate as much power as a punch or kick, a knee can generate even more though

hurts more and cuts, would rather cop a punch!!!
