I have this book "Autobiography of a Yogi" before reading i got to know the contents of the book from his followers,

so I thought it is not worth reading.

Just by being able to concentrate your mind one doesn't become God.

I'm sorry you have discarded something as invaluable because of a preconcieved notion. What you were listening to are other peoples experiences of God and meditation. Every individual is unique and every relationship is unique, so why wouldn't your relationship with God not be unique? The Kriya Yoga technique in Sri Yogananda's teachings enables you to become closer to God, without any motives except Love for the Infinite who created and loves all.

it is not a question of practicing yoga in an effort to *become* god, you are god, everything is god...there is a great prayer from the vedic tradition that is said before meals, it translates as "this food is god, the hunger i feel is god, the fire in my belly that will consume this food is god, i am god, all is god". yoga practice only stills the mind and body to such an extent that we are able to realize, perceive and directly experience our inherent "godness"

As far as shastras are concerned God has 6 opulence's to the fullest extent.

After a person completes the yoga processes (mind control), his actual spiritual journey starts.
