Excellent points! I couldn't agree more with you sir. I bike in Chicago year round. I'll post a video of my Fuji Touring soon, which I've set up in a similar way. I love having a powerful machine that looks like not so great of a bike... I just outfitted studded Schwalbe Marathons on my winter bike.
Having had to sell both cars nine months ago for lack of funds and having spent four and a half hours today commuting by bus I'm thinking like a cyclist, even though I haven't ridden a bicycle for more than forty years.
I've been taking the bus and hoofing it here. Considering taking my bike with me sometime soon....dunno. I think I'll wait and get a good map so I don't get lost.
I can't bike or walk anywhere when I'm at home. Twisty backroads are a good place to get creamed.
Now that's what I'm talking about! I myself travel Chicago on a my bike and I love when I stop for a drink and someone is complaining about car problems eg. tickets, insurance, oil changes, and parking! come on people if you're trips are normally 4 miles or less leave the darn car at home and get on that bike, you'll get there faster save money AND get some exercise! what else could you ask for!
I appreciate this video, but I gotta say, I rather enjoy commuting on a road bike. No doubt it is less comfortable, but it is also faster-- a lot faster. Going faster in hot weather, I'm in Texs, means more pleasant breeze :)
To be fair, most serious cyclists I know waste a lot more money on their bikes than the cost of a gym membership. Carbon fiber this and that are of course completely unnecessary for a good commuting bike.
Yeah, but if you're a serious commuter with a bike. The money you save on gas and maintenance makes up for it. It's like rewarding it for treating you right.
@agglutination but you also have to look at is that they do tour rides and things like that, they don't commute with their nice racing bikes (if they do they're asking for it to be missing when they come out) If anything a good commuter needs to be aluminum so it's light and won't rust like heavy steel frame bikes do. CF is for racing bikes, or for showing off their income status. real cyclists don't do that or shouldn't
hahahah i love it i love it i love it! fantastic man you are really original. i love your stickers. and you have a style of your own keep on rockin man dont ever stop.
Great! =) I totally agree with your ideology about a commuting bike being there to do the job... Mine looks a lot like yours and it's served me for roughly 11000 miles so far. Keep riding! =)
What a fucking "anorack", do you collect train numbers as well

Great video.....I love the part about locking it next to a nicer bike...LOL..
Reminds me of someone putting there sneakers on before
going to bed camping, friend asked him why are you putting those on?
well his buddy replied bears, other friend says you can't out run a bear,
I know he says, all I have to do is out run you though....Bike Safely

Dear Spokesmanreview,
This is unpretentious, down to earth biking.
What a refreshing contrast with fixie fadism, which is all about posturing and image.
Keep on trucking.

how come the serious bike commuters i see are really fit ?
how come everyone that won the Tour de France are fit ?
how come i don't see cyclists wasting money on gym memberships but they look good ?
