  • I want one!!! lol Good job man I really like it. Have you had any problems with the wheels warping and stuff?

  • @nitrojunkie11 No problems with warping. Use plywood and it shouldn't be a problem if it is kept dry.

  • Nicely thought out, great work.

  • @NTNGMAN Thank you!

  • very inventive.. im kinda jealous... lol

  • Well done, mate

  • it will catch on fire, you are retarded.

  • @valdezmiguel2 Thank you for those well thought, informative comments

  • I would be interested in purchasing a set of your plans for this grinder.

    email me at 91guns@gmail

  • @4mosins1 Hi.

Very sorry, there are not currently any plans available for this grinder.

  • Great grinder. Safety equipment matters so unless you want grit and metal in your eyes wear it, I would hate to see if one of them wheels explodes.

  • amazing

  • not bad for an american

  • @firelord3377

    Hah, I'm Canadian actually. :)

    Thanks though...

  • @69furball69 isnt canada in north america ;)?

  • @firelord3377 whats that suposed to meen not all americans half ass things.

  • good work

  • You could hook up a chuck on the end of that shaft, secure a sanding drum in it and you'll have even more functionality. Great set up and design. Many thanks for the close-ups and demo. I'm thinking of building something similar so the close ups were helpful. I like the idea of the wing nut and cords for tracking. Thanks for posting.

  • Good job on a nicely made machine.Nice belt centering ---- like a conveyor though if the unit has no pivot and the belt tracks off the flat pulleys ---you may need to crest the driver to keep the belt on center .Some guys use flanges but they tear the sides of the belt.Looks good .

  • Thanks, Yes I did use a 2HP motor. :)

  • i like it. thats great. its so cool when a guy can take anything, and make it into something that works, for him. good job.

  • do you have any ideas on making a tracking control system for a belt grinder?

  • It can be done several different ways. What did you have in mind; are you making a grinder?

Basically, you need a pivot or hinge, a spring and a threaded adjuster. You can see how mine works on this machine at 1:50

  • i've been looking for an example of the wooden wheel type grinder. you have it figured out. buzz

  • Runs a lot smoother than mine!

  • excellent set up

wooden wheels are fairly easy to make and can be re-surfaced. nice grinder.

thanks for posting found your site from Blade Forum

    buzz

  • Thanks buzz,

I put a layer of Ultra black silicone on the wheel but I'm going to source a piece of 3/8 neoprene rubber to surface it with, then it will be sweet.

  • Is there a hidden message in the bleeps? Sounds like a distress warning...

  • No hidden message, it's my GE digital camera. I don't know why it does it, unless GE has some maniacal plan to take over the world with hidden messages in beeps... wouldn't surprise me.

  • Awesome awesome awesome :) I made some plywood wheels today for my KMG project!

  • Damn that works!!

Does all and more, different radii and a polishing wheel, and wooden wheels negate the need for rubber wheels..brilliant effort!!

    regards

    Scott

  • Thanks!

Actually I have since applied a product called "Ultra Black" automotive high heat silicone to the wheels, about 1/8" thick and makes much nicer grinds now.

I also made an 8" wheel so I can use 72" belts.

  • Awesome build man, looks like all the hard work paid off!

  • More recently I've built a forge for bladesmithing as well as the burner and stand that it sits on and I'm in the process of converting it to burn waste oil. It seems like I'm always building something though.

  • What other tools have you built; this one looks like it works really well. With the adjustment, this tool equal to or better than a lot of store bought tools. You know what they say about necessity and invention!
