This is such a singable little song. i wanna party with Sananda and his wife- they are obviously made for each other. Who wants to teach a Canadian girl how to sing in Italian, lol?
I heard an interview where he said he wrote his song for ITALIA since he lives there with his italian wife since 2001, it's a very catchy song !!! and honestly who cares about the pronounciation.. this is music not a language school LOL!
Strange argument going on here..... Regardless of the pronounciation - the vibe of the song is wonderful - and although I don't understand a word of Italian the lyrical phrasing is pure 'TTD/Sananda... Magic
You're almost correct Kenjihaden but it is a fact that he was born in Manhattan. He moved around a lot as a kid I believe to New Jersey, then to Chigago and then finally to Florida where he went to the University of Florida for a brief time and then joined the army and was stationed to Germany and joined the funk The Touch and released an album called Love On Time (1983) but then was re-released as Early Works (1989).
Afro American accent? Doesn't sound like the typical Afro American accent to me. I think that his voice compared to other singers fits well with singing in Italian. I know that in woudln't work well for other Black American singers because they don't really have much of an accent. As for Sananda, who was born and raised in Manhattan, New York, to have a voice like his is rare nowadays. Plus alot of people mistaken him as being born in Britain or having a British accent.
If you aren't familiar with the Italian language, then you simply cannot hear what I'm hearing. Languages are very hard to master, and especially Italian because it's so phonetic. Every single cyllable must be pronounced properly. Don't get me wrong, my response is not a personal attack on you, it is just a very simple fact.
Okay anc282. I see your point. I only speak English so maybe that's where my fault is for I am interested in learning Italian and a couple of other languages like Greek, Hindi, and an African language based on my heritage (At the moment, I'm trying to figure out through DNA what language(s) link to my African ancestry). It can be difficult, especially when you live here in America where the general population refuses to accept or learn any other languages other than English.
I'm of Italian descent, not very fluent in the language, but as much as I can tell you, is that Whatsisname's Afro American accent is very prominent throughout this entire "song," which is why I simply cannot STAND this....atrocity!
Can you be more clear anc282. Your sentences are mubbled up. Are you referring to Sananda Maitreya formerly know as Terence Trent D'Arby best know for his hits Sign Your Name and Wishing Well? Are you trying to point out that you're mad that Sananda an African American is signing in Italian instead of in an African language or a language related to his root of origin?
My sentences were not mumbled up at all. I don't like TTD singing in Italian. As far as I can see, his pronunciations are not very good, because of the fact that I, personally, can hear his Afro American accent. Very clearly. Which ruins the whole song for me.

She is his "bella faccina" ;-)
"Sei ti porto a casa è la tua fortuna, ma tu non fare la pazza..
...dammi le tue mani, senti la mia pelle, sotto i jeans cavalli, "scoppio" di caldo , caldo con le mani.
Bella faccina tu sei la mia regina...
Bela faccina tu sei la mia stellina..."
