The 106 is one of the quickest in the Fiesta/corsa/saxo/clio group of cars. A 1.3 fiesta of comparable age is shockingly slow, and a 1.4 corsa would probably get beaten too.
i doubt it about the 1.4 corsa! a 1.4 Breeze has about 60hp, and a average 13.5s 0-60 time, the faster 1.4CDX's has 88 and do 0-60 in about 10.5s, so how could that be slower?

Yanks can put a 2.2 engine in summin and it will be the equivelent speed/effieciency of one of Englands 1.6's. i mean .. i outraced a 2.2 PT cruiser in a bloody 1.4 106.. Americans build SHOCKING cars..

not sure seems like the gear change is too early in 1st and 2nd :S this will cause a slow acceleration in 3rd im not sure if all 106's get that effect but if the gear change is too early it does crawl a little :(
@puggster 8 seconds? what have you done to it? exhaust, intake, remap, polished headers, fuel management system, blueprint the engine? or just a fuck off great big nitrous kit? cos mines only running 10 seconds with custom air intake, cat-back straight through exhaust and a high flow crankcase breather filter

Peugeot 106 speedo's are usually 10% out
So you need to do 66mph on the clock to do 60mph in reality.
This was doing about 55-56mph after 19 seconds with a passenger which is about right
