I didn't watch it (no interest in babies) but I remember this being on when I was but a wee bern of 9 years old; I thought the title was hilarious and hopelessly awkward (I still think titles that use gerunds sound ridiculous). No believed me when I told them about it - they thought I was making it up because they, too, thought the title was odd. Thanks for posting this: after 35 years I can finally see what I missed. Oops! -see below - I posted a similar comment two years ago. I hate old age!
I just love this movie, I was pregnant with my first child when it originally aired. I even had the baby t-shirt that Karen Valentine had on in that one scene. Thanks for posting this, it really brings back some good memories for me.
I've never had the chance to see this for I was only a baby myself when this first aired. now, I have the pleasure to say that I have seen it and also to say, that TV was not afraid to push the boundaries of mature themes. thank you.
Yes, THANK YOU...when I tell people about this TV movie, they refuse to believe me existed and accuse me of making it up, mostly because the title is so ludicrous. When I mention there was a sequel, hamifistedly called "Having Babies 2", they laugh even louder. Now I have proof. YAY!
I loved this movie for having the moxie to portray home birth as a safe and sensible option. SO happy to see it again!

And Desi Arnaz Jr. used to be the cutest thing on Earth!!!
Liza Minnelli was lucky enough to date him for a while!!!
Plus Jessica Walter ("Arrested Development")!!!
