Great vid, thanks. is it possible to play, say, two simultaneous instruments through zone 1, while still splitting with other zones? I tried sending the two instruments both thru the same midi channel but that doesnt work. thanks!
Dude you rock thanks for making this! It's cool when you the question you have gets answered by someone using the exact same daw and midi keyboard as you have! Cheers!
Great vid. Couple questions. Do you have an updated tutorial for the Axiom Pro. Guess I'm just wondering if it's any easier or different with the Axiom Pro. Other question is would this be the best way to play drums while separating the kick, snare, hihats ect., to different tracks? Thanks in advance!
Dude just one question, I have the Axiom 25 and I'm trying to set the midi for the zone (when you press the 2 buttons) but for the 25 is not the same!!! I have been looking everywhere and no luck :(
@punknart Solved!, for axiom 25, press ADVANCED, and RECALL AND PROGRAM and the same time.. you will see that there is a gray box below those buttons.
Great video, but I've got a question. I want to be able to change the global channel of my axiom and have logic play different instruments based on that. Is it possible? Or are zones the only way to make your keyboard switch between instruments with ease?
i am not sure i am getting what you are trying to do but i can tell you this much. The zones on the keyboard determine, amongst other things, what part of the keyboard plays through a certain channel. Do you want logic to play different instruments on different octaves, or switchable instruments as in one instrument for the entire keyboard?
if you have let's say 5 instruments loaded on logic and you want to switch from the first one to the next one, that has nothing to do with channels. you can assign a button to do the equivalent of click on the channel you want, creating the effect of switching through instruments as on a conventional sythesizer. If you want to do that look at my other video.
What if you need more than one octave of each instrument? Do the 'transpose' octave buttons apply to the keys, as in you'll lose the octaves the instruments are assigned to. Or, do they control the octave in which the instruments you've selected are playing?
You can assign an instrument to anything from a single note to the entire set of notes available, when you create your zones you set the amount of notes you want to use. Using the transponse key does not result in any loss, all it does is basically make available lower or higher octaves that you do not have access to since you are not using a full 88 key keyboard.
I know I am still baffled at the fact that the Axiom does not come with any logic presets. I dont even bother with complex Logic control from the axiom, its a bit too shaky so I try to keep it simple. I get my in depth control from a tascam 1082 which serves both as a DAW controller and an audio interface and works amazing with Logic. If i find anything about Logic presets i'll definitely hit you up and let you know. Thanks for watching.
Im wondering if they will ever come out with a Logic preset for the Enigma editor. As popular as The Axiom is, it still has a lot of short comings when working with Logic. Say you want to use the faders to control the volume for the first 8 banks then have it switch to the next 8, lol...let me know when someone figures that out. My Axiom 61 feels great as far as the semi weighted keys but I plan on getting a Mackie Universal to get some real control with Logic because my Axiom doesnt cut it.
Kewl, I'm glad somebody else has noticed this. The Axiom with Logic just does not cut it. I think the keyboard its self is fine though but the lack of support for Logic is shocking and so is the manual.
I was also looking at the Mackie Universal and a Novation Remote sl mk2. THough what would be the difference between the two (apart from the price gap), they both do essentially the same thing?

So that's what Zones are for, splitting the keyboard up in to octaves for different instruments on different midi channels.
To quote from a previous post,
"Do you want logic to play different instruments on different octaves, or switchable instruments as in one instrument for the entire keyboard?"
What are switchable instruments and how do they relate to Zones?

Was just wondering what does depth control mean?
