  • so beautiful.

  • :)

  • Of Monsters and Men, Sigur Ros, and Parachutes. both one of the greatest Icelandic bands in the world

  • if sigur rós and Parachutes make a chilled song together, its a victory sign.

  • Where can I buy this wonderful music?

  • @theMuranosBand It's so, so hard to find. It's not on itunes, and i can't really find it anywhere else. I use a website called flv2mp3.com to get music a lot of the time. (I know, i seem like one of those people that advertises bad websites that give you viruses and crap. Hate those. But run it through some kind of website checker thing or research it. I use it all the time and i haven't gotten anything from it. ^.^ :D )

  • @Allyouneedisluv1 Thank You, this worked perfectly.

  • @theMuranosBand You're welcome. :D

  • what's the name of the album?

  • This music reminds me Heroes' soundtrack.

  • Vraiment jolie et magnifique !

  • voice .. it's not Jonsi? (birgisson?)

  • reminds me of sigur rós.

  • @Tkicziki they toured with Sigur Ros a couple of years ago. Saw them open up for Sigur Ros at the greek theater in los angeles back then. great show.

  • @Tkicziki

That's because Alex's(the founding member of Parachutes)boyfriend is Jonsi, the lead singer of Sigur Ros. He and Jonsi have collaborated together a few times. Alex is very inspired by Jonsi, so maybe that's why they sound alike :3

  • I thought it was Scott Alario who sang this song? I saw Parachutes performance on Iceland Air thing and it wasn't Alex or Jonsi singing but that man; Scott Alario. ^^

  • Alex has been working on producing the newest Sin Fang lately.

  • Parachutes is Jonsi of Sigur Ros' boyfriend Alex Somers and Scott Alario... The band itself is now gone. Alex played various instruments with Jonsi during his solo tour last year.

  • wait, sigur ros?

  • goood

  • It's like Sigur Ros in English

  • @wombatwolf : nothing is like Sigur Ros!

  • @SveinssonErlendur

umm, not really. it's totally like sigur ros. as a matter of fact, i was reminded of sigur ros so much, i went on to check whether this was a side project of sigur ros.

  • @elektrokuma They opened for Sigur Ros at Red Rocks 2 summers ago.

  • @elektrokuma This is a project of Sigur Ros Jónsi's boyfriend, so you're not far from the truth;) the resemblance is evident, but i think it's rather romantic this way:))

  • @szeltunder

riceboy sleeps is too, right? a combo of parachutes and sigur ros?

  • @wilwharton yes, as far as i know, jonsi and alex make music under the name of riceboy sleeps.

  • @szeltunder @wilwharton jonsi and alex is the artist name. riceboy sleeps is the name of the album.

  • @SveinssonErlendur 3 kids Justin Beiber fans...

  • Who the hell put three thumbs down??????

  • this song makes me feel okay about being alone.

  • Sheer beauty, the kind of music that really can bring hope to you...

  • hobbitville

  • i listen parachutes, but hear Sigur Ros

  • This song is beautiful, one of the best songs I've ever heard in my life.

It feels like I can fly to a world without war, look down and see the beauty of it ..

Can't describe how much I love this song though ..

  • 'Iceland: Beyond Sigur Ros' (2011). A new Anglo-Icelandic Music Documentary! Enjoy for FREE! :)

  • sounds so much like sigur ros

  • i want to iceland.

  • Ta K k ! :)

  • it takes a special kind of person to knock music taste on youtube.

if you like it, you don't need to defend it with your life, just listen to it and enjoy it.

if you don't like it, don't listen to it. posting crappy comments about a song you're not fond of is the quickest way to becoming a classic troll.

    whatever happened to being nice?

  • Jonsi is actually apart of this group. Thus it sounds like Sigur Rós.

  • You sound like what you sound like..Yes we all have influences musically, but every human is different. To our ears they may sound similar to sigur ros.. But i think they are utterly different. Musically there are many similarities, but you can tell that these guys arent copying anyone, they just happen to sound like one band that everyone knows of. There are millions of bands out there that are equally as good as one another, some are well known, some are not. I think these guys are great! :)

  • I agree with inresurrection. Listening to this and knowing that it ISN'T Sigur Ros makes me cringe. Picturing the band 'coming up' with this song and having the audacity to revel in its positive reception makes me feel intense embarrassment. Also, if you encourage bands to sound like one another, i.e. 'if it's a good song, it's a good song', then you are necessarily encouraging them to sacrifice their ability to express THEMSELVES. it IS a rip-off.

  • @topjolly It´s NOT a rip-off. Just because Sigur Rós' s singer sings in this song and imprints his style in the song(I remind you that he is one of the producers), that doesn´t mean that it is a rip-off. The influence is there, indirectly, but the influence goes way back, to traditional icelandic music, in which, Sigur Rós too are rooted.

  • @topjolly actualy its not a rip-off. its like a side project of jonsi from sigur ros.

  • @topjolly how is this a rip off when the band (parachutes) consists of Jonsi of sigur ros and his boyfriend who are also in this project called Jonsi & Alex in which all their music sound just like sigur ros? Jonsi is the vocalist and front man of sigur ros. He wrote most of their stuff. How can someone "rip off" himself?

  • @kornypony its like saying Thom Yorke is ripping off Radiohead, or Chris Martin is ripping off Coldplay, it doesn't make any sense whatsoever

  • @kornypony This ISN'T Jonsi singing. That's all that needs to be said. They've collaborated with each other on occasion but you are incorrect in saying that 'he wrote most of their stuff'. The two main members are Alex Somers and Scott Alario. Do some research.

  • @topjolly tell me who it is that sang the song then? As far as I'm concerned, its Jonsi singing, it makes the most sense, they collaborated.

  • @kornypony The fact that you can't tell the difference proves my point as it is. The singer is Alex Somers. It's an amazing coincidence that somebody who plays in band that emulates sigur ros was born with a voice that has the same tone/delivery and inflection as the sigur ros singer. What luck.

  • @topjolly

you dont need to be a dick about it...

  • Biggest Sigur Ros rip-off I've ever fucking heard. This is absolutely shameless. Is it nice? Yes. It's also a MASSIVE rip-off.

  • @Inresurrection Well, Alex Somers, the one who made this band is boyfriends with Jonsi, the singer of Sigur Ros and they play music together a lot so thats why they sound similar

  • @Inresurrection I think they probably can see it themselves and, if I'm not mistaken, have actually toured with Sigur Ros. Any way - who cares? We need more bands and groups like this rather than the crud that's out there lately.

  • @boneyarsebogman I don't doubt they can see it in themselves, but why would you want to sound EXACTLY like another band? It makes no sense at all. I wouldn't take pride in sounding like what could be mistaken for another band.

  • @Inresurrection It's somewhat the reason why there are tribute bands. They take pride in sounding like somebody else. But they're not necessarily a Sigur Ros tribute band. It's probably just that Sigur Ros is their inspiration and they don't sound exactly like them either. And even if they did, is that necessarily a bad thing?

  • @Inresurrection I think they actually have far more in common with early Múm than they do with Sigur Rós. Still, as others have said, what does it matter? If it's a good song, it's a good song, if it's not, it's not; who cares who's influenced by whom? And Parachutes, like Sigur Rós and Múm, have their own unique character anyway. Similar ethos? Undoubtedly. Rip off? No.

  • @shannibobs I disagree. This has nothing to do with influences. I'm talking about one band sounding EXACTLY LIKE ANOTHER. I don't care about your "it's a good song, just enjoy the music" mentality. Influences are one thing but this is something completely different. If I heard this without any prior knowledge, I would think it's a new Sigur Rós song. This sounds like something that would be found on með suð.

  • @Inresurrection In that case, we'll have to agree to disagree; because I don't this sounds "exactly" like Sigur Rós at all. They are very obviously inspired by, no-one would deny that, but that's as far as it goes, in my opinion. It should also be pointed out that this song was produced by Jónsi from Sigur Rós, and, as has been mentioned, one of the group is Jónsi's partner, so the influence is actually literal, Jónsi was involved on this project.

  • @shannibobs I agree - they don't sound entirely like Sigur Rós do. But this is something we'll won't able able to agree on fully though.

Though it has to be said that this is probably the first proper discussion to take place in YouTube comments. Congrats everyone.

  • @boneyarsebogman Aye, I guess Sigur Rós and affiliated acts ( ;-) ) attract less idiots than some other stuff does, so it's possible to have sensible discussion with folks you disagree with, without anyone resorting to calling anyone else a 'fag'. The Youtube idiot's word of choice, seemingly.

  • sounds like Sigur Ros! :P

  • camera? (:

  • sadly, they broke up :(((

  • I cannot get enough of this song!!!

  • finally. someone gets music

  • 1:18 <3

  • wow.... i'm speechless

  • Guys please calm down! Sigur Ros did not break up-they're just on hiatus while they enjoy their new babies! Jonsi is touring solo for 'GO' ~his gr8 new album. I'm sure Alex is along with him,..want them to come to Texas!

  • It's Sigur Ros style!, but Sigur Ros is better!

  • @MrJthl umm it's becaue Jonsi(Sigur Ros singer) produces this band, and sings sometimes

  • sentidos que tocam a plenitude exuberantemente

  • Very nice song :)

I cannot talk after that. Just thanks :)

  • Is this band touring at the moment or is it just performing on iceland?

  • does anybody know, where can i download it..?i've already searched it at a lot of place...and its soo lovely, adorable music..and i feel so bad that cant listen to it on my mp3...

  • why you don´t record it by an Adio-recorder here of youtube? I use No23-audio-recorder, so you can record all, what your PC is playing.

  • Aah, that's so nice, do they have an album?

  • It's an endearing tune by all means. Sure it's very Sigur Rós-esque, but it also sounds like many laid back indie rock tunes.

  • nice nice nice song....i love It...but what does it add to the awesome paintings of Sigur Ròs' songs???

  • wow! ("-")

  • pretty song, thank you 4 sharing
