shut up if you upgrade them they do allot of damage depending on what army your against so you know nothing your are obviously a rookie...............
The cover save thing is complete BS i will never agree to play with some one (who pulls out that stupid laser pointer) or who uses the actual position of the model to see if he gets a cover save ill always go by the base of the model cuz if the trygon is behind a hill that only covers half of his body whos to say he simply wont position himself to be mostly covered
I'm pretty new to tyranids but doesn't the Marlock 'Burrow' Rule alow you to deploy it, burrow it turn 1 and then auto deepstrike out on turn two. I assumed that the Marlock/Trygon was used as a hammer blow to the anvil of the swarm. Like Contain the enermy and then burst up forcing them to chose a target.
Cheers for the videos, looks like we have some good debate on this one =)
it's a little odd you've never had a trygon get into combat more than once. I used to run a trygon and mawloc together, and while they almost always both got in combat, the trygon always killed more, so now I take 2. They've taken on terminators, lichguard, battlesuits, even a phantom titan (granted, with masses of luck on that one) and come out on top. I admit I'm lucky on scatters and reserves, but your luck seems unusually bad from your stories
@GregBurke7759 that's unfortunate. I should be honest about my army, I focus pretty heavily on monstrous creatures, having 8 of them. It generally means only those weapons are reliable against me. It's not perfect, and to make up range I have to take zoanthropes, but I only have real trouble against eldar in falcons and wave serpents (particularly fire dragons), and Dark eldar with dark lances. I don't always win, but most of the time I come on top.
And if you deep strike them you should (at least on mawlock) eat verything you hit!!!!!!! STr6 and ap2 makes even terminators fall. I have seen Mawlock eat 6 terminator in one turn- After that next turn he burrows again ang next turn he dose same again.
try running trygons without deepstriking and use tervigons with catalyst and onslaught to fleet run and shoot and get fnp so when you get nailed by missiles and small arms fire you dont get slaughtered they live forever then and completely wreck the other persons face. Running 2 with 2 tervigons its a deadly combo. Try it and see what you think.
I totally agree. I once tried to use a Trygon to get some Warriors within Assault range of a bunch of Imp Guard, and the little guys gunned everything down in one turn. I do, however have a Ghetto trygon which lays down all the time. It is 10 inches long, though.
you seem to hate half the nid codex anyways... Warhammer is a game of luck or els there wouldent be dice involved. Most games I play with 2 of them I get a lot of decent hits with the large blast + 6 wounds or 12 wounds between 2 with a 3 up save is prity tonk so they generaly able to atack the next turn then finish off (usualy!) the enamy unit in the enamys turn alowing u to re-submerge them in your turn. so always deploy not hold back then boom free deep strike and hope you scatter well! =)
@MrEvilc0d I Warhammer is not a game of luck, Sure its a part of it. It has to do with what army you play and what tactics you play by...compared to the Grey Knights, Blood Angels, Space marines and Nercons Book, allot of the nid units got shafted (ie the Carnifex) in order to promote sales of newer models (Trygons). In 6th edition I have a feeling that being a Monstrous creature will lend more abilities then just Killing tanks...or at least I hope
@GregBurke7759 I agree there is stratagie involved or el's my games generaly wouldent go so well for me but you cant escape the facter of luck and unfortuantly its a rather high factor. Like some noob can beat a pro if he roll's better. And I agree that other race's seem to be better atm than nid's but that dosnt mean nid's MC's are usless. Like you I play alot of games as playing and painting is all I do and my trygon's 90% of time see the game out after desimating eleits and tanks alike
Greg Burke I'm curious what do you use against tanks? in your other video you talk about your dislike for canifex. what do you do against say a landraider?
In this video i hear an extensive amount of complaining and no real feed back. If he plays a model to hope he doesn't scatter. This person clearly has no concepts of how to play this game effectively. He probably plays people around his local store and they are all terrible. Monsterous creatures dont ever get covers saves unless you rock some huge buildings If you want to use mawlocs or trygons, you need to have multiple units that have target priority. You don't do just one mawloc on enmy lines
@GregBurke7759 Not everyone takes eldar, not every eldar player takes pathfinders. Why would you deepstrike just one mawloc in there deployment zone to get shot at. Eldar pathfinders are a gamble any ways. I reject my comment about you playing terrible players. This was not meant to be drama. You have to have multiple mawlocs, or trygons. if your only concern for you units dying is pathfinders or scattering then you have some problems. Where are your genstealers to jump on the pathfinders...
I have very wing heavy nids. HT/wings, gargoyles, skyslashers, etc, in combination with ymgarl GS'ers, lictors, and a mawloc that burrows turn one, and comes out turn 2, ive never had a battle last past turn 3.
Either way,it doesn`t matter. They can lose that last wound from normal attacks.I had a Tau Drone kill one of my Bloodcrushers in ASSAULT (he rolled two 6s,I failed my save).Nasty things, those drones....
Watching this video and I' starting to think you might need help running your Tyranid Army and read the rules Fleet gives you the ability to run and assault and there is only 1 Tau with a power weapon who is a HQ called Farsight at S5.
But its good to see people putting up their opinions on units in their armies.
it really helps to deep strike some other stuff along with the trygon, like a group of gargoyles and stuff like that, just to make it so he's not all alone. Even a winged Hive tyrant appearing with him will help.
also, its much better to just run him. his shooting attack is trash
Don't deepstrike them, it's too many points to risk entering too late in game. Put it on the table from start (in cover). It's tough so either it lives and you'll soon be in range for some shooting/CC, or it dies - but the other guy will spend most of his shooting "worth of points" taking it down.
lol... Dude... Just because you can deepstrike a Trygon, it doesn't mean you should do it. And just like the Tyrannofex, you should not take it alone. Have 2 Trygons and just run them across the board.
Seriously, the only time you should deepstrike trygons is if you already have a Hive tyrant with Hive command or a Swarmlord.
you like to QQ a lot in your videos I have noticed. A Mawlock you should never have to worry about your reserve roll because what you do is play him on turn one and then have him burrow and he comes up free turn 2. As far as the Trygon goes you can walk it but its main thing is to create a tunnel for other nids to come through then provide them support once they are through. NOTHING in the Nid list should ever solo anything, and everything in the book serves the hive in someway.
@nithia Agree. Except from the part about using the tunnel. Remember that you can't decide not to roll for reserve. So if your units that you would actually want to walk through the tunnel gets a succesful reserve roll, it means that they'll get forced to move in from your table edge if the Tunnel is not available... Which it is probably not. looks awesome on paper, but really bad on the table. :(
@TNaBTyranidChannel Oh no I agree i never use one for the tunnel i was just saying that is its "intended" use. I prefer using mawlocks if i am using a reserve list but i just use his burrow on turn one and don't worry about rolling for him. As far as the trygon goes i only ever take one as a prime and IF i am going to roll for him its because 60% or more of my list is in reserve.
@nithia True but they cant use the tunnel the same turn......making it useless. so if your trygon comes in turn 2 (IF he comes in) you cant use the tunnel till turn 3 and thats if your reserves dont come in on turn 2 as well.
@GregBurke7759 ....and the reserve unit that comes in via the tunnel, stands still for a whole turn. It's the most useless rule the Trygon has. It only works if you need to hold an objective, and you create the tunnel right next to it. I understand your frustration with the big monsters, although I gotta say the auto Deep Strike of the Mawloc in turn 2 is pretty good. But indeed, it's random where he exactly lands. Fluff-wise he should always hit, and also not hit impassable terrain
Uh, I would never reserve a trygon dude, its just stupid. You run 2 or 3 trygon up the feild with 2 warrior prime in units of 10 gants to get tervagons as troops. I'm guessing you pay attention to tournament lists, but have no clue how they even work
@MrDreamblade So this amazing list you propose sounding similar to others net lists....how is it doing on the tournament scene. Might win a local gaming store event but competitive tournaments that filling your lists with more than three monsters guarantees you will lose to a half competent player. Perhaps you should attempt a different list rather spouting the same failing list over and over.
@sbabcock86, uh...i never said it was an amazing tournament list, but it is one of the few good nid ones. with the current metagame switching to mechanized, that style list is the only one that can get you more than a few wins. if you play in a 3 round tourney against mech guard, space marines, and orks, you can pull of a win a tie/win and a draw/loss. seeing that your taking offense to the net lists, i am gonna assume that you dont play in the best tournaments.
@MrDreamblade A tournament list is always designed to be amazing. Otherwise there is kind of no point to using it unless it's "for fun" event, am I wrong? The only offense I take to net lists is when they don't work. The current net tyranid list that everyone is religiously using has time after time failed to deliver.
As to your assumption to my tournament life, I only play in Ard Boyz and other North American Tournaments.
@sbabcock86, i usually play at rogue trader tournaments, GW events and at the gamesday tournaments. The thing with tyranids is pretty much that the net lists are designed for 1750 and 1850. i also play in american tournaments. basicallyh dude, tyranids suck under 2000 points, so they r good 4 ardboyz, but not many other tourneys. a guy near me named steve is the best tyranids player i know, and he even has trouble using anything in tourneys other than the anti mech lists that your calling net.
If you put your Mawloc on the table, you can burrow on turn 1, and deepstrike on turn 2.
Besides, these monsters are really best used as a meat shield, they will take a HUGE amount of firepower to go down, which would otherwise go elsewhere on your army. Of course, zoans are really a better choice for distraction imo.
Unfortunately, i sorta agree in most ways. Its a shame GW is trying to force nid players into playing more "horde" than "scary beast" tactics.
I use trygons and love them dearly. And so what if it's turn 3 when they come in? If the rest of your army is relying on the trygon support/assault to win your doing something wrong. Maybe it's just where I play but my trygons are just a extra bonus to my army, I would be fine without them, but with them that's all the more wounds for the enemy to have to chew through(only have had one die turn it came in, that was to 2+ wounding stern-guard)
I'm agreeing on you with this even though I use a trygon prime. they basically (for both mawlocs and trygons) pop up trygon will zap a few guys then (if they aren't stupid) will use most of their shooting to take it down and that's 200 points down the drain
I dont agree with everything your saying. But good to find a youtube poster who actually gos into depth about things beyond "shoot lascannons at tanks and heavy bolters at men Consider yourself subscribed to.
@GregBurke7759 It is really simple you have more than one thing use deep-strike or outflank like run some genestealers or raveners then when your trygon pops up he isn't alone and target saturation and it is difficult to pick one or the other.
@Replican815 Greg is right you know. If you upgrade Eldar Rangers they become "Eldar Pathfinders" and +5 points per model sounds harsh but they get +2 to cover saves instead of just the +1, not to mention they also do have some other rule about ignoring difficult terrain. I dont play Eldar. Good guys are no fun to play but we have a guy in our lil club he uses them so Im unfortunately used to seeing them used.
1st I never deep strike the trygon because they have fleet and get into combat fast. 2nd I take two because they usually can't kill both. 3rd mawlocs can deep strike onto enemy's based on the GW site. 4th if they shoot at them gives my little guys enofe time to run up and punch them in the face. Anyway that's just how I use them. It works for me but if u don't like them then u don't. What ever works for u.
@PhoenixDragon90 well like i said It was my experiences using them, Im sure in allot of games they do good but they are walking targets in the games I play.
Your doing it wrong.

I agree, they are not very useful.
1. They cost too much for what they do. (like all Tyranid MCs)
2. Pretty much all armies spam missiles, dark lances and meltas super cheap and kill them before they can do anything.
3. There are too many things that can instant kill, all new armies got atleast one.
4. You can not count on cover since they're too big.
