I thoroughly enjoyed this performance, I did a cover alone on my page of this as well but I am not fortunate enough to have good talent around me to do a collab.
now this was a surprise! was expecting just the guitar, but this was deffinitely impressive. where are you guys located so i know where to go to find you live?
@bkerr3 Gosh Bruce, you've lost me on this one. Are you talking about MY guitar? I'm playing Hamers in this video, bro! Hamer Monaco (single cut) for the rhythm, and a Hamer Artist for the lead.
Hey there man first off u have to know im not into classic rock or bluesy stuff like this but you and your covers fascinate me a GREAT LOT!! THey even inspired me to grab my old electric guitar and hammer out some guns ´n ´roses instead of Children Of Bodom =) Thanks a great lot for your awesome covers man and please do way more of them!! =)
I always thought this song kinda dragged. Your version is WAY better than the original. The groove, the guitars and vocals are all exceptional. You breathe new life into this song. Holy shit I have a new respect for Mountain thanks to you. Thank you and the band for a top notch video, but more importantly for improving a classic rocker. A+
@scottgerling Woah, thank you for such great compliments! I am very happy you enjoyed this and that it gave you a renewed respect for Mountain. They will always be among the bands at the top of my favorites list. I can't honestly say that I agree with your assessment that we've actually improved a classic tune...we were just having some really good fun here, but Leslie and the boys in the band laid the foundation for it with their pioneering spirit. At any rate I am thrilled you like ours.
@BONAMANTE13 Thank you for your kind remarks...we're just having some fun. About Leslie's tour...he had to bring it to a halt recently when he was in Mississippi. Les is diabetic and had a problem related to it while in Biloxi or Gulfport, and they had to amputate one of his feet. He is recovering now and his wife says he is doing very well, and he shows up on his facebook page regularly to post a new joke so he's in good spirits. It's a dang shame we must age like this...
@SilverHamer right on man, Right on man,,, I knew about the surgery & wife had to make the desicion!!! whatever it takes to keep these greats alive, just go for it,,, thank the Mighty Lord that keeps these giants alive on this earth !!
cause, no way these guys could be cloned!! lol!!
I wish the best & blessings to you in the future!!
@hoshposhmagosh Lots of well-known bassists use picks...Paul McCartney for starters, and I can think of a few others, such as Dennis Dunaway of the original Alice Cooper Band, Chris Squire from Yes, John Wetton from Asia (uses a thumb pick)...and the list goes on. There is not hard and fast rule about it really...I mean, not every bassist can be a Geddy Lee or Jack Bruce...:D But like you said, to each his own. Mark here plays with or without...check out our Sweet Child of Mine.
@hoshposhmagosh I use a pick depending on what sound I'm looking for. I can play fingers as well and often do. I find it more difficult to play with pick. As a bassist you shouldn't be so close minded.
My all time favorite mountain tune. Twin Peaks was my first Rock live album and i was digging the style of Leslie West, i think that´s how i really learned how to play guitar. This is a absolutely wonderful cover, you guys caught the spirit of mountain without any doubts. Great playing, authentic sound ... man, and the voice ...first i thought this is really Leslie singing ... congrats, that´s fun to watch and listen ... would love to hear you doing "Silver Paper" :))))
@rushyeskansas Dude, thank you very much for your awesome comments. Mountain had a profound influence on a lot of us, didn't they? To ME, that is what makes them Legendary, and even though Leslie West would be the first to tell you that he's not the greatest guitarist that ever was, his style, his tone, and his energy set the bar very high back in the late 60s/early 70s. Silver Paper is one of my faves from the Climbing LP, and Sitting On A Rainbow! YEA! We may have to try Silver Paper...
I've said it time and again about you guys..freaking great job...you guys should go on tour...I know my Acoustic act would be a good opener for you! Keep up the good work man! PEACE!
Larry; I have been so busy, haven't had time to stop by the site. Just heard this, magnificent. You guys really rock us old guys. Thanks. Keep on doing it.
@stymye It's funny you mention Leslie's Les Paul Junior...at the time I was considering getting the Hamer Monaco, I was seriously considering getting a Leslie West Signature Dean Soltero....but the Hamer won out in my decision because I'm most familiar with Hamer and I've been sort of lusting for a Monaco. I have a relative who is the original owner of a 1957 Junior, still has the original case and amp and sales slip...$250 for the whole rig back in the day...LOL. About 1/10th it's value today
@Cameragirl803 Hey, Jane! Nice to hear from you! Yea it's been a while since I've posted anything new...been having issues with such things as work, *cough*, and failing computers, etc. Hopefully things will be better from here-on. Thanks for dropping in and having a listen. :D
@fredthejunkman Butts that aren't serious move around too much and make for lousy targets, so we only aim for the serious butts, Dave...LOLOL. Thank you for popping-in and having a look, your compliments are always greatly appreciated, dude!
@bkpenta Sorry, nothing is for sale. We just do this for the fun of it. We are thrilled that you enjoy it. That was my dog, Poquito Perro, who just HAD to get into the picture...LOL. At least he was nice enough not to try to sing along, which he does sometimes.
WOW so great!! :D what a groove so awesome!!!
