  • Such a pretty song. The electronic music of Tangerine Dream is just so elegant and Jon Andersons voice..WOW! If only these fantasy worlds were real.

  • I want this song and I can't find it to download it ANYWHERE!! Someone please help?? :( I must have it for my epic fantasy movie cd mix... blerg.

  • anyone see the parallels between jack and lili with adam and eve?

  • This song always reminds me of my Nana, a great lady she was! FYI She gave me her electric guitar, yea .. it was hers because she is one awesome Ma'am!

  • i had this movie the Labyrinth and the Dark Crystal thay were the best

  • @matthew1639 best comment i have ever seen

  • I love this movie and i wasn't even BORN when it came out. My dad was watching it one day and i made fun of him because of one of the characters and what it looked like. I knew this song before i even knew the movie. I insisted on watching the movie, and now i LOVE IT! One of my favorites! My 2nd favorite movie of ALL TIME!

  • When I was 5 I would insist on renting this movie every week until my mom gave in and got it for me on my birthday. I watched it everyday and new every single line. This film defined my childhood.

  • @MykeVStardust You should get it on DVD, 2 Disc Ultimate Edition with music videos and Comentary ext..

  • I can watch 80s fantasy films over and over. The soundtracks are just an added bonus.

  • I have this movie and its mine and my moms favorite.

  • this is my favorite movie of all time...I used to ask my mom to play this movie over and over again. I love it. My favorite scene is when Lilly is lured with one of Darkness' presents, the black dress. :D sooooo many memories!!! <3

  • Can anyone tell me where to get the director's cut? I have the VHS version but if there's more to the movie I wanna see it :3 I'm guessing ebay/amazon might be good places to check?

  • @TheDragonsRose Amazon 2 Disc Ultimate Edition also you can go to FYE and request to have them order it in for you!

  • i got the directors cut too...i like the tangarine dream music better...i grew up with that music when i would watch this movie!

  • I just got the directors cut edition of this movie and was so excited only to come to the end and thissong as well as myfavorite scene that takes place during it WERE REMOVED... bastard

  • @CorporateAvenger9 the directors version... WAS the original version. And still is over in Europe. They were also blessed with Jerry Goldsmith's original score. We in North America got the horrible (in my opinion) version with Tangarine Dreams score. They have since released a two disc DVD with both versions (probably the one you have)

  • @ZipBalloon1989 well the version i had seen as a child was with the score by TD and that was the one i liked. the version i got only has one disc and its the one with out.

  • i love this song! Legend came out the year i was born, btw...

  • this film is the epitome of my childhood. why aren't movies made like this anymore?? and this song is EPIC!

  • ive been searching for something to say to show how much i love this song and movie. couldnt come up with anything other than HELLZ YEAHHHHH. this flash gordon and the never ending story are the greatest 80s movies for me. and yes im a 1990 baby lol

  • @CorporateAvenger9

all great movies, cant wait until my kids are old enough to watch these

  • @whenirunthecountry hell i was watching them as a child. my dad actually had this song on a playlist he played on his computer for me when i was spending the night at his apartment as a kid. and i always loved it so it kinda makes me reminisce and have that same feeling of security.

  • gorgeous movie and song

  • I love this movie and this song.

  • Good movie

  • I saw this in the theater when I was a girl, and I can remember coming out of the movie in complete awe, taking a few steps and then going right back in to watch it again. Now I cannot see it alone without bawling, and I definitely cannot listen to this song without tearing up. Best movie to watch with your significant other, the emotions this movie evoke are much better shared with the one you love.

  • @WibSkelDS9 The other day I had a funny thought: what if they had Jon Anderson playing the villain in Legend like Bowie played him in Labyrinth. Imagine some of the iconic scenes with Jon's high register, such as the big laugh or the beginning speech.

  • i miss the old tom cruise...come back to us man... come back...

  • @wfmceramics sorry he is lost in the closet, i agree 80s tom way better

  • My favorite flick.....and always will be, I will never let go until the day I die...TAW

  • This movie scared the daylight out of me when I was little. Then it became a favorite that I forgot about until recently when it was on TV. Such a classic fairy-tale

  • So much memories I want to cry! !

  • infinite wonder

  • BEST SONG EVER, THANKS FOR POSTING.

  • Does anyone know the name of the "outro" at the end of this gorgeous song?

  • the original score is way better than the director's cut

  • *nostalgic tears...*

  • The film was on last week, brought back soo many memories! Wonderful!

  • Oh the mystical power of Unicorns and faery magick!

  • I Love this song and movie. Great memories.

    thanks for posting

  • this movie is so awesome..can't believe that evil looking devil is actually just tim curry hehehe :D

  • An amazing departure for a band memorable only for pretentious, pseudo-intellectual crap, punctuated only by synthesised farting noises. Congratulations lads, you've come up with a tune for once.

  • This is gonna sound pretty lame, but whenever I hear this song,it makes me think of an ex gf from when i was 17.During the summer, she had gone away for a couple weeks to visit family and when she came back was telling me how she'd stayed up one night at like 2 am and was watching this movie(legend) and i was awake too watching it on tv.so now whenever i see it or hear this song,it always makes me think of her since that day.Reminds me of how much i loved her back then.Makes me sad.

  • Great song but who sing it, Jon Anderson?

  • @tigerys1702 Yes Jon Anderson who is originally from the band Yes sung this with his other group Tangerine Dream

  • @fyrieusx

While Jon Anderson did sing this song he was never a member of Tangerine Dream.

  • I named my Daughter Lily and yup I got it from this movie :)

  • Tangerine Dream and Yes should have done more collaboration after this

  • Dang, Tom Cruise looks like a little boy in this movie. Great song though! Only recently, did I find out that it's a male singing this.

  • Legends, The Dark Crystal, Never Endeng Story, The Labrinth movies like this make you feel good inside I was born in 83 I love this shit they keep you imagination open NICE EDIT!!!!!!!!!

  • This movie... the setting, the characters, the plot and the music are to this day one of the main reasons I have held onto my creativity and imagination over the years. When I watch this film I start to believe in fairy tales all over again. This was one of the first soundtracks I ever owned and I still have the original CD in near perfect condition. This is one of the best movies/soundtracks of all time in my opinion. I am an artist today because of inspiration like this.

  • luv this movie so much ..everything about it is so wonderful and enchanting, and the music ..is so beautiful.. was so scared of the dark dance scene hiding my face in a cushion , but had to peek to see what was going to happen ...amazing movie ♥

  • 24 people were apparently never children.

  • This is great! It's a song that represents everything RIGHT with electronic music as opposed to overkill in the 1980s.

I remember first hearing this when I was 12 years old. I had turned on American Movie Classics to catch the end of Legend when Jack sends the Prince into the void. Couldn't forget about the song, probably what made me look for the film years later!

Jon Anderson is great with or without Yes. Great voice. Lyrics may be silly in a few places here, but I'm not complaining.

  • love the song love the movie, prince of darkness scares me lol

  • Just hearing one second of this song throws me back to being a little girl, completely enthralled...

  • there cannot be any true lasting peace without Jesus Christ(Jews). Man has the capacity for Good, but lacks the guidance without GOD. The beginning of Wisdom is the knowledge that mankind doesn't have a clue of it alone. It is a fairy tale like this one, but this is a beautiful fairy tale. Untrue, but the music is great. Jon Anderson singing Amazing Grace in Atlanta, Georgia was fantastic too. Thanks for the video, and the music.

  • You have a very rich life, Nell, Watch out for toad stool's and OLD OAK's lol Whole thing was a work of Love through the darkness......dazzeling!! LOVE!!! FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!!......can that be a bad thing? ~peace~

  • <3!

  • Good job editing together with the music

  • This song takes me back when fantasy and imagination roamed free. I miss those days.

  • Some kids had Labyrinth. I had this movie. <3

  • @WibSkelDS9 Both of those movies are my favorite childhood movies!

  • Comment removed

  • @WibSkelDS9 I had both growing up... Legend was in 85, Labyrinth was in 86.

  • @ZobyJuan22 Legend was released in '85 in the UK, and on April 18, 1986 in the U.S./Canada.

  • @WibSkelDS9 i love both Labyrinth & Legend 2 epic timeless movies

  • @WibSkelDS9 Some kids had both, you know!

  • @cbceline I know i did, and I love them both!

  • @WibSkelDS9 hey Labyrinth is cool as hell too, love both don't dis lol ^^

  • I was in 6th grade when this film came out...it was so cool !! Still one of my faves !

  • for me being a guy i love this song and the movie and i regret not telling my wife i love her enough thats what this song does to couples.it is true love by the sun

  • I've had this song stuck in my head for a week. I need to buy this movie soon. My vhs of it is now completely dead; it got too much use when I was a kid.

  • @nessaru05 Same here! We watched this to death, literally.

  • this song is so beautiful <3

  • Ridley Scott made genre films art. Blade Runner, Alien and Legend. It's unfortunate so many people my age who love fantasy films; have yet to see this film. A beautifully shot film and vastly underrated. Even this song is a perfect example of a fantasy anthem. "What Have We Here! A Little BOY!?"

  • This and Alien are my favorite Ripley Scott films!

  • @OurGangFan

You mean Ridley, but I get that you were think of Ellen Ripley ;) I always confuse the character name with the director haha

  • @friskedkitty Simple mistake. Means nothing.

  • @OurGangFan

    Sorry. Didn't mean to offend.

Just thought you might have been confusing the main character's name from Alien with the director....

    Which I have done.

  • this invokes emotions of the strongest

  • I am a big strong guy, but every time i hear this music i cry. my sister, who was a nurse in a nursing home told me about this song and this movie being great. She's dead now, and i remember good times with her every time i here this song.

  • This is the lead singer from the band YES. I grew up loving this moving and this sound track!!!!

  • Wonderful video. I got the region 1 edition of Legend because it is packed with special features and it comes with the theartrical and directors cut. It was surprising to see how much extra there was in the directors cut version compared to the uk one I used to watch. The thing is, I prefer the Tangerine Dream soundtrack but the directors cut version of the movie, so I find it hard when choosing which one to watch. All in all tho it is a Legend of a film.

  • I never realised just how beautiful Lily was until I watched this as a young adult - the difference getting older can make to perception, as well as to beauty, is truly wonderful,.

  • How gorgeous is Mia Sara!!!!

  • Beautifully put together thanks! Really want to be able to purchase this soundtrack.. but its not available in the uk, I can't find it anywhere. :( It was almost as difficult to buy the movie with this score. But I managed in the end woohoo! If anyone knows where to get the soundtrack please let me know!!! xxx

  • Peace love and hugs to all!

  • BEST SONG EVER!!!!

  • I love this movie so much but the whole DIRECTORS CUT has a different soundtrack which kinda makes the movie blow... I want the THEATRICAL RELEASE w/ Original soundtrack please somebody!!!

  • PEACEFUL & WONDERFUL......

  • And of course Johns vocals and TD's arrangement. Anyway peace. :)

  • The reason why I take the time is not to inflame, its because I adore this film and its lore completely.

  • You really kind of need to fix the credits, the soundtrack was done By Tangerine yes. But loved by the Sun, was performed By John Anderson of YES. It really is kind of important to the lore of the film.

  • It's amazing how organic special effects and make up was back then. Everything now looks so fake and filled with CGI. There is hope though with the likes of Guillermo Del Toro; his work is truly amazing.

  • My favorite Tom Cruise movie ever.

  • i just got a boner

  • 24 people arn't loved by the sun.

  • @LostYin hahahahaha

  • @LostYin probably Tom Cruise bashers! F them! I love pretty much all of his movies and this is 1 of my favs! everything about it, the actors, the scenery, the music, and the magic! "IT's Very Magic!!!!!

  • I dont see how people can compare that flop Labyrinth to this masterpiece. I couldn't even watch Labyrinth but this movie is one of my favorites of all time.

  • Its a day for fairy tales, one day I hope you are all touched by one

  • goosebumps all over!!!!!=)

  • I love the Tangerine Dream soundtrack and the Jerry Goldsmith score in equal measure. This is and always be one of my favorite films. Teach us to love, for goodness' sake. Legends can be now and forever loved by the sun.

  • i wanted mia to have my love child and i was all of 11. she was hot as hell in this movie. she was still hot in ferris, just not as much.

  • this is a great song thanks for posting

  • Oh my God I need to experience this again....

  • An amazing and surreal movie...with the perfect song...

  • The Director's Cut didnt have the same feel at the first one..BUT LOOOOOOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @1408josie tottaly agree the music did not fit as the theatrical bot at all

  • Takes me away.....Sweet nostalgia.

  • Anybody else think this soundtrack is better than the Director's Cut soundtrack? I do. :D

  • I have played this soundtrack literally 5 billion times.

  • brings me back to my childhood :D thanks for posting!!

  • amazing beautiful song and video!

  • I love the movie and the I love this song. Cool to know I'm not the only one=}

  • Love the fact that Jon Anderson sang this song. Great spiritual leader of our time.

  • This video makes me sad that the young kids have ripped all meaning out of the word "epic." Sniff.

  • This song and this movie is pure magic for the soul!! Just beautifully hauntingly mesmerizing!! Oh how I miss those days of my life. What a time that was full of true happiness and innocence. A time to never be forgotten!! ♥

  • @twinklebear22 I always tell people this is my favorite movie and nobody ever knows what I am talking about amazingly beautifull movie and music!!!!

  • @bugmusk6 I know exactly what you mean. I saw this when I was about 10, and fell in love with it. It remains my favourite movie to this day...But almost no one knows what I'm talking about when I talk about it.

  • @twinklebear22 thumbs way up :)

  • 3:43 = proof of God

  • I am here to combine marijuana with this video. R.I.P Dennis Hopper.

  • Love this film and soundtrack, think it was made wen i was only born but its still one of my all time favs..

  • Really amire Ridley for the work he put into making this film I cant imagine how time consuming it is to create a world like this with no CGI, Everyrthing organic to the touch, A true artist at work making films with techniques never too be seen again,As good as the special effects are today i wish the film companys would make more films the old skool way.

  • Am I the only person who likes TD's score better than Goldsmith's?

Don't get me wrong, I love almost everything Jerry ever did. He truly was the maestro and his score for this was okay. I just think this is probably TD's best score and their music really fit the film, as did this song.

  • @zenmachinefilms I think TD did a better score as well. Even the best musician can't do everything. I think the problem with Jerry is that he was overworked and expected to do everything back in the day. They got to give these guys some breathing room and shop around once in a while. Between this, Wavelength and Firestarter, I'd say no one else could have scored these films except TD. Every film needs it's own flavor.

  • without fail .. i cry every time i hear this song . i LOVE it

  • @rubyhorror /cryyyyyyyyyyy <3 me too

  • I watched this one time at my uncles house back in the 1990... Some where around that year. It's was a lovely movie.

  • Excellent collaboration of Jon Anderson with TD.

Inspirational emotional match with the imagery.

    Sublime.

  • My favorite movie of all time and one of my favorite of all time songs, beautifully edited, I'm amazed that people remember this movie, this was Tom Cruises best.

  • I'm trying to find this on Itunes and I can't!!! It sucks!

  • I love this movie, and the music. It still is my favourite.

  • I am glad you liked it claudio!! I love it!

    Friends,

    Jeanne

  • I guess I`ll have to watch this movie. I`m 22 and haven`t lived the early 80`s as most people here. The music at least is wonderful. : )

  • Comment removed

  • Jon and the sun = life!

  • a voice never again

    God bless jon

  • @yea78861 I totally agree Tim!!!!!!

    Friends,

    Jeanne

  • @jeannelovesjon1 You sent me the Bryan Ferry - David Gilmour before and I liked it, but of course listening to Anderson`s voice...well, that`s another story. = )

As Tim said, a voice never again for sure.

  • The Prince of Darkness here is too scary for this movie to be rated PG. Not to mention that slimy green goblin that hops out of the water and was gonna eat Jack.

  • Hard to believe Tom Cruise was in Legend in 1985 and then the very next year Top Gun. I mean, he's like an innocent adolescent in love in this... and in Top Gun he's a masculine alpha male.

  • I think that the primary appeal of this movie is the overwhelming purity and innocence of the main characters. It's a battle between good and evil in its most elemental state, light vs. darkness. It's highly underrated considering the masterful use of lighting and the set design, not to mention terrific creature effects.

  • ive looked and wanted to have this song for more than 15 years finally i have found it here. awsome!!!

  • 24 people are not loved by the sun =/

  • @kargothishere They rather be loved by Miley Virus!

  • the 80s will never be topped... i said it.. may my words be lived and understood

  • Perfection.

  • Had the chorus of this song in my head today and hopped on youtube. Thank you for posting. Reminds me of when I was a kid and had a more romantic view of the world.

  • That line "for goodness sake", wow, wayyyyyyy out of place there. Long live Legend. I love this movie!

  • I believe

  • weed only causes giggle fits and munchies lol you must have been token something laced :) but aside from that a truely gorgious marriage of music and visual .

  • beautifuly done. you have a fan.

  • John Anderson literally has the most epic voice of all time and anything sung by him cannot help but be a classic for the ages. It is ridiculous that a voice like his even exists.

  • Sweet songs of youth, The wise, The meeting of all wisdom

To believe in the good in man

I <3 this song. My father watches Legend, but i have never watched it. I think i will watch it. Thank you for this video. :)

  • @princesssweetiepie5 I have now watched Legend. IT IS AWESOME!!!!!! I love it!!!!! Again, thanks for the video. :)

  • @jeznhell4vr please tell me they're not trying?

  • Classic! No way they can remake this movie!

  • This movie and this song goes SO SO SO Perfect together...this is the greatest fantasy movie of all time and Tim Curry did a damn good job.

  • @DJJesse1986 When I saw this movie I was a young man, I didn't realize who Tim was really. Then I saw him in other things, i.e.. I.T....and other projects and realized he has an amazing depth !!!! seriously. He can be funny as all, and then flip that and be totally intimidating and sinister. What a wonderful job they all did in this film and made this movie a LEGEND*

  • @AudioInklined Well said : )

  • I prefer goldsmith soundtrack... waay better.... with TD it becomes some cheesy teen movie... lost all the magic... imho,

  • there is some scuttlebutt around the net saying they are either remaking this film or doing a long overdue sequel.

  • On May 31, 2002, I had my last conversation, ever, with my Dear Mother...the conversation was short, yet profound...her voice was soft, like the mists of morning childhoods of long ago...and the very last words, that she ever said to me, was..."son, I love you''...she died a week later, on June 7, 2002, at the age of 52...for the next three days, not a drop of rain fell from the sky, as if to allow for the journey of her soul in the eternal firmament of heaven...Mother, I will always love you...

  • @GemCan78 celebrate because your mother is already in the hands of the Lord. praises be to Him.....
