In historical context it's perfectly acceptable to marry girls at that age. I of course don't want to marry a girl at that age. But if you can't accept history then your as stupid as anybody else. Kings would marry girls at very young ages. People wouldn't have a massive outcry about it since it wasn't taboo. Again, it's history. Can't accept it? Then your very sad.

So historical context is completely acceptable. The average life span back then was 50 years. People would die from all kind of diseases. So when they would marry, 1/3 of their life would be over. Quran has contradictions. The friendlier verses were revealed before the more poisonous ones. Search "chronological order of the Quran". And about the verse you conveniently quoted, if you read the two verses before it (48:11 and 48:12) you'll understand that this verse (48:13) was directed to the desert arabs mentioned in the two previous verses I just mentioned. When people say don't pluck verses from the Qur'an out of context, its for a very good reason my friend.
