I do realize that they've said that, but it was more a joking reference to the sappy line from Jerry Maguire. Especially since your average movie goer isn't going to understand jokes from comics.

I do remember alot of comic book guys being really excited about that line because it really is true in regards to these two characters.

the "you complete me part" wasn't even part of the script Heath made that up himself. Also the part where joker is sitting in the jail cell, and starts clapping he made that up too.
