I beg you to understand the history of the time. I was a witness. At the time of the massacre, the entire country was in turmoil. All infrastructure had broken down (it took me 3 hours to WALK to work). The entire country was pretty much going to be taken over by inexperienced STUDENT LEADERS. To stop the protests, President Deng ordered a curfew in Beijing by the 38th Capital Army. They did not manage to disperse the crowed but were instead killed or burnt to death by fanatical crowds.

You are not the only person in these comments that was has first hand accounts of the event. My family was living in the area when the PLA army came in and they moved to the US in light of those events. Don't get me wrong though i love China and visit a lot. However, what they did during these protests was far from right.
You must look at things with a wider perspective. The government only sensors things that may be of threat to national stability. Other than that the Chinese citizens have perfect rights.
The government had to ensure the stability of the nation, therefore a field army was dispatched from the south with orders to retake the capital which had fallen to insurgents. THAT's when the shootings began. Do not think that the government didn't try any peaceful methods to manage the situation (for two months the 38th army had been negotiating and issuing threats to the protesters). NOTHING worked. Shooting had been the only alternative to national revolt.

Negotiation? You're joking right? The students demanded that the sons of Li Peng, Zhaozi Yang, Dengxiao Ping be imprisoned and all structures of the government to go through IMMEDIATE reform. What is there to negotiate? There isn't even time for the government to be PARALYZED.
None of the students demands could be satisfied in a negotiation. The only thing left to do is to get the protesters out of the capital so that the country remains stable for the time being.

The part about all of the CCTV on tiananmen square is scary because that is exactly what is happening in all of the other "free" countries around the globe. Especially in the UK and Britian. Do not think that the government didn't try any peaceful methods to manage the situation (for two months the 38th army had been negotiating and issuing threats to the protesters). NOTHING worked. Shooting had been the only alternative to national revolt.

Though rioting is always the wrong route to go the government by no means had NO other alternative. Also the government did NOT negotiate with the protesters they only threatened.

Believe me there was NO other alternative. We did not have tear gas or any other methods of crowd dispersal except for brute force. Even then however, no shots were fired until the field army was dispatched.
Negotiation? You're joking right? The students demanded that the sons of Li Peng, Zhaozi Yang, Dengxiao Ping be imprisoned and all structures of the government to go through IMMEDIATE reform. What is there to negotiate? There isn't even time for the government to be PARALYZED.

The part about all of the CCTV on tiananmen square is scary because that is exactly what is happening in all of the other "free" countries around the globe. Especially in the UK and Britian.
