  • china is steel as always.

  • I only wish that this was able to operate without the boot discs. That way a modder would be able to eliminate that large and loud disc drive altogether, and potentially move the DC closer to a more compact handheld portable.

  • @SwankeyMonkey Um, you actually can do that bro. They have a Dreamshell bios that you can install if you have a bios chip lol. They even sell Dreamcast's premodded like that without the drives from the same website.

  • The legend will never die . Love my dreamcast as much now as ever sega ftw

  • lol, finally a use for the serial port on the back. tis epic. :3

  • "Muy buen producto resuelve todos los problemas de carga de los juegos en Dreamcast".

“Muy buen producto resuelve托多斯洛杉磯 problemas DE carga德洛斯juegos EN特工”。

  • @Snapx4000 Dreamcast isn't shit buddy. Its the best system on earth lmfao. I doubt you have played all 700+ retail games for the system.

You say Dreamcast is shit, but you fucking have Shenmue 2 videos on your profile. Fail attempt at trolling on your part.

  • @BFKAnthony817 Well said... well said!

    Dreamcast...

    Best. Console. Ever.

  • @Snapx4000 hey suck my dick dreamcast hater

  • Do all games work, and are loading times decreased?

Also, since it only supports .iso format, which doesn't support multi-track, that means that most games that use proper audio tracks, won't have any music. Hopefully there'll be .cdi support in the future, or better yet, .gdi support.

  • @LuvPlayN All retail games do not work, only some. CDDA is not supported, and loading times are increased in many games.

I used mine for Homebrew and Emulators mostly, as I really couldn't justify burning a 25mb homebrew game to a 700mb disc.

Also, you can use the Dreamcast as a media center now with this and watch movies too with Dreamcast Mediacenter or DCPlaya 2.0 with SD card support.

  • Or you can look on ebay and buy it now. :/

  • maldita sea quiero uno, en cuanto me saldra hasta mexico?

  • What does it do?

  • @wiilover55 You can play games from this with the Dreamshell Boot cd, so you can extend the life of your system, and not run games from the noisy disc drive. Think of it like a Dreamcast muffler lol. ;)

  • LOVE ISOZONE! I Just Got one of these hope it gets here tomorror Im so stoked!

  • @SpinTheDemon We love you guys too, that's why we have the best site ever. We work hard so you don't have to. ;)

  • @SpinTheDemon So did you get it? does it work fine?

  • @6958921 Yes I got it and love it! Love the site the small fee is worth such a big value Ive been telling all my buds to go over and support!

  • @BFKAnthony817 do you think you can make a hack bios that can load cdi or .iso file with out a boot disk im working ona project to make a hand held dc it be nice remove the gd rom all together

  • @theporkchopchannel Actually yes you can with a bios mod chip and the Dreamshell bios mod you can do just that and remove the GDRdrive altogether! I have been waiting to see a portable Dreamcast with the SD Adapter mod! You can really shrink down the size of the whole system!

  • @BFKAnthony817 now all we need is some cheap price lan cards may be even wifi :) i just uncover the sd card thing how old is the sd card mod

  • @theporkchopchannel The mod was started in 2006, but it went mainstream late in 2010.

  • @theporkchopchannel That already exists! Just get the Dreamshell bios hack, remove the disc drive and play games on a smaller handheld Dreamcast!

PLEASE let me know when you do it, I would LOVE to see that machine!

  • @BFKAnthony817 The SDISO section is in the "Burning section" of the site because it is for creating games, so it only really fits into that tutorial section of the site.

That is the only thing I can see where you would have gotten the idea I was talking about burning anything. Sorry, not trying to offend you, not my intent bro.

  • @BFKAnthony817 All is good. "Daemon Toold." You just go Daemon Toold! *snicker-snicker*

  • SD stands for Secure Digital. SanDisk is a corporation.

  • Just ordered one. here's hoping it arrives.

  • @Retrogamer71 Hey awesome news man. Just in time for the launch of our new SDISO section at dcisozone! We have over 40 games to choose from so far.

  • @BFKAnthony817 Sounds heavenly. 32GB should fit all that on. :P

  • Hi, I just saw your video on this on DCisozone the other day and I finally ordered one off of the sites you posted. Can you tell me how much they charged you to ship it to you when they received the item?

  • @Getbacker Well, I reckon it was about $6 shipping, and $5 for the device, so it cost more to ship it, but it is worth it instead of hardmodding something yourself. Total was $11.14 for mine, but it varies on shipping methods, I just went basic mail.

  • @BFKAnthony817

Yeah the price seems reasonable. I just saw that on the site it was a total of 13.54 for me and then I have to pay for shipping after they receive the item. I don't think it'll be a deal breaker but I was just curious as to what to expect.

Thanks for the response. Also, if I copy the games I own to it do I need to do anything to play them from the card or no?

  • @Getbacker Yes, you must create sdiso images with a program, if you own cdi's, just pop them into the pc and copy all files to a program called Make iso, I have instructions on how to do it on the site. Look in the burning tutorials.

If you download a cdi, you can mount it with daemon tools or a similar program and get the files from the disc that way.

  • how fast are these? are they slower or faster than a disc?

  • @kakureru Some games run full speed like Headhunter, Resident Evil 3, Aqua GT, Vigilante 8, and others. To be sure though, the speed is not as fast as a disc image, but you will never notice it on compatible games.

Anyway, this was never really meant for retail games, mainly homebrew and emulators, but being able to play retail games full speed on it at all is a definite plus. Also, for compatible games, you can even play GDR dumps on it, as the size of the compatible SD cards is up to 32Gb's!

  • I finaly bought mine. It was the newer orange pendrive looking version. I should makre a video of all his new SD Readers. Mine cost $11.14 from Buyfromtaobao website. Not sure what it will cost after that site ships it to America, but I rec kon round $20 total for ground shiping. I also got a brand new 32GB SD card for it for $42 on ebay, and I bought a brand new mouse and keyboard new in the box for $24 free shipping on both too!

  • Everyones been talking a lot about this and i can`t blame them! This litle gizmo is putting new life in the old (but trully awsome) DC! Think this is better than a hole new batch of games! I`llt ry to grab it soon as i can!

    Thanks for posting!

    Cheers!

  • @shock25sr Ya for sure it is the biggest thing to happen to the Dreamcast hardware wise in a long time, maybe even ever!

    Thanks for watching!

  • um ... you can play burnt games on these just fine?

  • @StevenMcFlyJr Well, pretty much they will boot, but if they have lots of CDDA, they tend to lag a lot. The Russians making the Dreamshell OS for SD Adapters, are trying to make the code more optomized for accessing ISO's from the cards.

As far as homebrew and things small like NES emulators go, they play fine. CDDA is just the main thing holding back many games from being full speed.

Here isDreamshell in action playing a retail game perfect. watch?v=7XRp6KR2_cg

  • Finally!

I been waiting for this for months!

  • ill get it whenever i can buy from someone who speaks english

  • @HellfirEsVids Yeah, I don't blame you. from what I have heard, this thing is actualy MUCH cheaper then the $35 I put in the video. It should be $7.20 USD, but the shipping is where they get you.

Using various postal services, this is how much it costs.

    DHL : $ 23.41

    XIN : $ 39.45

    EMS : $ 29.14

    Airmail: $19.07

    SAL : $18.66

  • thanks for the detailed reply BFKAnthony817!!

i've tested Dreamshell before, i even maintained contact with SWAT some years back... i have modchips on 3 of my DCs to run imports, i'm actually interested in the save capability, because i currently have a box full of VMUs and am going nuts when i try to find saves... most of which are doubled somewhere :D

thanks again... lets see if playasia decides to sell them... I'll actually write to them right now.

  • Sweet The serial port was one thing that I never got to use on my dreamcast.

Apparently if you play a that uses a lot of CDDA it can lag a lot. This is probably the serial port reaching its transfer limit.

  • @700gsteak Yes, from what I hear, the serial port has a 2mb transfer rate. They were going to use the port where the modem connects to the Dreamcast for maximum transfer rate speed, but it is very complicated, and beyond most homebrew and modders capabilities sadly.

  • @BFKAnthony817 Why would the modem port be faster than the serial port? I know the phone line can be swapped for a broadband module. Doesn't mean it can sent data to the system bus any quicker than serial port. It shouldn't be harder to create a driver for it. bios software should it. It would be nice to know that a SD card could be as quick as the access to the GD rom. I would certainly purchase a SD hardware solution if a faster access channel existed over the serial port.

  • @Retrogamer71 From what I can tell, pluging directly into the bus port where the modem plugs into the motherboard is way faster as folks in the know have told me, and the transfer rate I gave for the serial port is more than twice as fast as I had previously thought. The serial port transfer rate is actualy more on the order of 5mbps, and with many 3d retail games you can get full speed in Dreamshell 4.0, but Dreamshell 5.0 should be out soon and have many new updated features.

  • @BFKAnthony817 Well I'm surprised a manufacturer has decided there's an appetite for SD card support and made a production item. It would be good if there was a list of fully working, and I mean fully working titles that run off SD. I don't see how xvid or divx could run off SD at even 5mb/s. And where's the list of homebrew titles that would impress. Other than dreamshell and the snes emulator?

  • @Retrogamer71 Well, I'll post a link to the site in the description that has the compatibility list of games. I was uploading SDISO images to DCisozone, but we just need more contributers, maybe you can help post some homebrews and whatnot. Also, in the Spanish DC community, some good friends of mine are making homebrews specificaly for the adapters and Dreamshell. Look to the videos on the right, setsunasnk a guy from Brasil has posted many videos of movies playing on his custom made SD card.

  • Amazing release!!! can someone explain how to order from this Chinese site?

also can we use SD cards for regular game saves?

    thanks

  • @cabilloso Well, I think it is possible to use them for game saves, at lease that was one of the main reasons the Spanish guys were making the first ones. The only problem is that they never came through, and it has been since early 2009 since they released any news on theirs.

I do know that the Russians are making an operating system for all Sandisk Adapters, and they can run retail games too.

The OS that the Russian guys are making, can install the OS inside the Bios...

  • @BFKAnthony817 As long as you have a mod chip on your Dreamcast, you can install an OS called Dreamshell into your system, and you can access the Sandisk card adapter without a CD, and run your emulators, homebrew and retail games, and Xvid movies and music all without having any CD in your Dreamcast, thus making the DC more like an original moded Xbox console! :P

  • @BFKAnthony817 Also, to answer your first question, I do not know how to order them from the Chinese site, all I know is that they are avalible at this time. We are hoping that sites like Playasia. com can stock them for the rest of the world.

A certain Dreamcast site is thinking of trying to aquire some, but that is only if they can buy them without problems, and sell them to folks that want them if they find enough that are willing to buy them.

  • sweet ive been waiting for this device to finialy come for a long long time :D
