  • american health care sucks bollocks.

  • RICK SCOTT should be stoned to death for stealing billions from the taxpayers.

This SCUMBAG will say anything to protect his money making Health Ins. Co. Quick to collect on premiums and quick to deny coverage and patient treatments.

Govt Option now ! put these greedy motherfuckin crooks out of business- making money denying people healthcare.

  • Rick Scott runs CPR Rights and he is a criminal responsible for stealing billions of taxpayer dollars and killing Americans by denying health care. We need to waterboard Rick Scott to get to the bottom of how much he has stolen and who else was involved. Let's learn the truth about who he killed and how he did it. Let's waterboard Rick Scott today to make this country a better place. WATERBOARD RICK SCOTT 4 A BETTER USA!!!!

  • We need to stop government health care now.

Visit my website for more information at:

    planotexaspolitics (dot) wordpress (dot) com

  • Let's stop stupidity first, then you can work on political ideas...

  • Videogeek27 let's break down the HR 3200 bill and see what were working with.

The below listed link will take you to a video that has info on Gov having direct access to your bank account.

Also in the notes of the video & on my page I have 2 links of websites that breakdown the HR 3200 bill plus answer any questions you might have.

    Hope this helps,

    Video link below

    watch?v=v4NN-kHO2Nk

Or the video is on my page

with some of the break down of

    HR 3200 aka (Public Option)

  • My Father and Brother-in-law are both under the VA system and they love it. I am thankful that they both receive top quality care.

  • As crappy as you assume the public option it will be, it's still better than no health coverage at all. That is the purpose, give those without a choice a chance to get coverage. If you don't want the option, then don't take it, get your own health coverage, and quit your bitching!

  • anything that is in in the private market is out to make money (profit), that's just how it works. insurance companies are no different

  • And what is wrong with making a profit for a service?

    I don't get it.

  • Repubs need to calm down. There is already a

"public option" system in the country that no one want to get rid of. IT CALL PUBLIC SCHOOLS. At every level from K-12 to your local state university is funded, by the federal government, to offer a public option to private education. It's not perfect but it is far better them having every citizen pay for education as they do in other countries.

  • No ad has infuriated and enraged me as much as this one, so much so that I felt compelled enough to find it on YouTube so I could voice my opinion.

No organization that insinuates that Obama should be working instead of vacationing, with no reference to the fact that Bush was the most vacationed president in history, can be taken seriously.

If you had any legitimate arguments to bring to the health-care reform debate, you have totally voided them with this utterly repulsive and awful commercial.

  • On the countrary Obama has yet to start working.

  • Don't forget the government also runs the US post office, your fire department, your police department, they build the roads and freeways you drive on, and many, many other things you take for granted. Don't bite the hand that feeds you now.

  • Bizarre.

Obama only plans to give people stuck in the individual market the option to buy care from a publicly owned insurer. That's all. Its one more choice. It cannot be a govt take over of health care! And the public option will be self financing from premiums and so deficit neutral. Most costs in the Obama plan come from subsidies to poorer Americans to buy care which could be from private insurers.

The protests are organized. That is clear to be seen.

  • Before anyone tries to take issue with Hauskalainen, read sections 222 and 241 of HR3200. The facts that Hausk said are right there in the legislation.

  • Politics don't need to tell the truth, nor to prove what they say. It's the way they say it that matters and convinces or not the Americans.

  • Its quite simple: ObamaCare is all about rationing. But it doesn't matter. His disapproval ratings are now well above 50%. He's lost the moderates. He's lost the liberals. He never had the right. He might as well stay in Massachusetts. Maybe he can run for senator when Mary Jo's murderer finally meets his way-too-long-time coming end.

  • Conservatives don't need 1,018 pages to "reform" health care. True reform includes:

    1. Tort reform (something Democrats can't do because the Trial Lawyers run the party.)

    2. Repeal restrictions on insurance company competition across state lines.

    3. Tax incentives for private purchase of insurance

    4. Encourage Health Savings Accounts so that people can make their own decisions.

Wasn't that easy? And, I still have 12 characters left on YouTube for comment, but I don't need them all.

  • Wrong again Ponder. Malpractice lawsuits are only 2% of all healthcare costs. You could have zero lawsuits and it wouldn't make a rat's ass difference. Oh, by the way, if a doctor messes up and a relative of yours gets killed, feel free to not sue. Conservatives only like lawyers when they want to use them.

  • That statistic is just bullsh*t.

  • Why don't you actually research it instead of just calling it "bullshit" just bc it doesn't comport with your RNC talking points?

  • "2. Repeal restrictions on insurance company competition across state lines." ---- That is impossible to do as different states have different laws regarding health insurance, covering of pre-existing conditions, and what has to be covered, etc. so sorry, another conservative idea bites the dust (no surprise).

  • Bravo

  • As an independent I fully support the public option. The insurance companies need some competition to get their act together and I want to be able to choose so that if I'm not happy with one I can go elsewhere. The insurance companies have gotten away with killing to many people and lining the pockets of too many politicians. Enough. I want choice.

  • The Public Option is Not Competition. It's The Way To Kill The Public Option. They Can't Compete With Each Other. Nor Can The Government Afford To Do The Public Option. Only Punishment Other Ways Or Incentives To The Insurance Companies Are Logical. Once The Public Option Destroys The Private Insurance Companies So Only Rich Can Buy It We All Became Slaves To The Public Option Of Government Run Health Care.

  • Free health care is on it's way, but we only want our taxes lowered NOW. Come on, seriously?

  • Why is every one so pissed off at something that helps people . Maybe some one should make an ad about the war in Iraq, because its killed way too many people, & its costing us a shit load of our tax dollars?

  • Thirty second steaming pile.

  • I see that the Democrat astroturfers are out in full force. Who is paying you? Acorn?

  • Paranoid much?

  • I love how wingnuts think that every progressive is an ACORN plant.

And I also love that our correct assertion that many of the town hall anti-reform people are astroturfers - useful idiots for Big Insurance - seems to be getting the intelligent and nuanced response, "I know you are but what am I?"

  • This video is nothing but lies to fool stupid people. Government-run healthcare? Nope. Health INSURANCE reform. Your doctor will not work for the government. It will not add to the deficit. Higher taxes on everything including soda? Not. You want to pay less for your health insurance? Be in favor of the Public Option.

  • It should be called, the government takeover option, not the public option. Proponents of the plan see it as a step towards single payer and socialized medicine.

  • The public option is a disgrace and "Americans" who support it are unpatriotic and don't understand the constitution that made their nation great.

There are many ways to reform healthcare, none of which involve adding even more socialism to the mix.

  • "Unpatriotic." Sorry, that dog doesn't hunt anymore.

And the real disgrace is all the people doing the dirty work of the insurance corporations that are screwing them.

  • You mean the insurance companies that the Government bans from competing between states, and who can't decide their own policies due to Government mandates?

  • Oh, yeah, Big Bad Government is SO tough on the poor insurance companies. I mean, they aren't even allowed their God-given right to make huge profits by denying healthcare to working people!

    Oh, wait.

  • This phony bullshit message brought to you by the INSURANCE COMPANIES

  • This ad is about protecting the big corporations and not patient rights as it says. Wake up Sheeple! You just had 8 years of Bush and look what he left you. Less regulation got us in this mess. Anyone who thinks the big corporations are going to come around on their own are seriously crazy.

  • The purpose of the public option is to lower cost and protect patients' rights.

Why do so many self-identified conservatives support unregulated capitalism yet oppose a society making health care a right instead of a privilege?

  • Too bad nobody watches PMSNBC or else people would know who Rachel Madcow is.

  • Too bad you aren't a real comedian...

  • The sad thing is probably half the people that watch this will take it seriously.

  • Enough is enough! Go to USRevolution2 (dot com) and get your flag of the Second American Revolution. They're in all 50 states and spreading from porch to porch! God Bless America!

  • In honor of our brave troops, I wish they'd just QUIT MAKING SHIT UP!

  • Why is ever ones comments so fucking long? just keep it simple, either you like him or you don't.

  • If reading gives you a headache then maybe you should just stick to watching MTV.

    Was that short enough? ;)

  • As for Rick Scott: there is no proof of his direct involvement, but regardless, John Edwards was an ambulance chaser who made millions. T Boone Pickens is an oil magnate. Attempting to silence someone's message by attacking their character is grade-school. And hilariously, if you got rid of government regulation, there would be no way for someone to scam the system and reap millions. A free market solves everything.

  • A free market makes creates credit crunches, ENRONs and a whole bunch of other scandals. We have reached the end of Capitalism as we knew it. The fact that the US has not realised it yet is only an opportunity for the other world powers.

  • Another public service announcement brought to you from the astroturfers.

  • News flash: You are already paying for uninsured people. When uninsured people go to the emergency room and get treated and can't pay, who do you think ultimately picks up the bill? We do.

  • Those with insurance also pay more through their premiums, either directly or indirectly through lower wages. It's a little funny how people are complaining about taxes going up, when their health insurance premiums are going up and up every year. What difference does it matter if you pay more via taxes or through health insurance premiums? Your still paying more in the end!

  • You're right, but not in the way you think: premiums go up because of government involvement. Why do you think the Democrats receive the most money from insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, mortgage companies, etc? Because Democrats use scare tactics to create govt monopolies, sell themselves to the highest bidder, and convince you the 'free market' is to blame so they can keep doing it over and over. And you're so stupid, you believe it.

  • What government monopolies have democrats created through scare tactics that you are talking about? Specifically, what scare tactics have democrats used to propel their agenda? Republicans are masters of scare tactics, how else did we get involved in a war that had nothing to do with 9/11, yet somehow was justified for national security? Come on now, let's be a tad bit more rational around here!

  • Videogeek, you told me to watch my fox news... Delusion. Let's call it what it is, fox is a conservitive station. Of course you were assuming I was a republican

  • You seem to know everything I am thinking or implying. Remember that part I said about how you should read the comments before you respond to them? When are you planning to start that? Before or after you avoid the context of my comments? Just curious... ;)

  • First of all you assume that I am a republican... Wrong, I am democratic. Second, I am against universal health care. You see not everyone in the democratic party has to agree. Stop jumping to conclusion that you have no information about. So I guess anyone against universal health care is a republican. Please...

  • That is the kook fringe for you. Your party which was once noble, has been overrun with the nancy pelosi liberals that have torn it to shreds.

  • I didn't call you a republican. Maybe you should read the comments you are responding to Blakey.

Again, if you are going to complain about Obama's spending proposals then where the hell were you people during the last 8 years? The same people that have no problem funding an unnecessary war are against improving the health and well being of their fellow citizens. Go figure!

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • Where were you so called "conservatives" when Bush ballooned the national debt twice its size, with billions going to fund an unnecessary war? No democrat in history has spent as much or pushed for the expansion of government like Bush has, and now you morons are crying over Obama's practices? What planet do you people live on?

  • Yeah I know, god forbid we spend money on things like roads, bridges, schools. Let it instead waste in Iraq. Idiot.

  • Your comment about wasting money on Iraq is very disrespectful and shows complete disregard for the men and women who serve this county. Grow up and watch what you say. People have lost there loved ones from this so called "waste."

  • If you find it disrespectful for me to point out the obvious truth then go back to your Fox news delusional world. Nothing I can say is anything nearly as disrespectful as a politician misleading its citizens through fear tactics and lies to fund a war with no end.

By the way, nobody has lost more lives than the people of Iraq, so get off your high horse because this country hasn't sacrificed nearly as much as what the people in that country have.

  • 'People have lost there loved ones from this so called "waste." '

Astonishing that you can say this without realizing the truth:

IT IS A WASTE. The people who built this war WASTED the lives of thousands of Americans. It's not an insult to THEM. It's an insult to the dignity of our nation that they died for something unnecessary.

  • BlakeyMoroni, nice strawman argument, but you knew perfectly well I was NOT talking about our troops who are doing the fighting. The military does not make policy, they follow orders. It is a disgrace that we use them as pawns, as the Bush administration has done in their neocon fantasy. It is well known by now that Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11 and no WMDs (you know the reason why we were told to go there in the first place?), resulting in the maiming and killing of our countrymen.

  • ask the millions of liberated Iraqis if it was a waste, I don't think they agree with you.

  • Yeah those people who would "greet us as liberators"? Is that why when we left Iraqi cities as per the SOFA agreement they celebrated in the streets? Is that why an Iraqi threw a shoe at GWB? Is that why they want us out by 2011? You really are a retard, and should stop using Fox News as your news source, as that is why the GOP is losing elections as its become overrun with right wing extremist Bible thumpers and neocons.

  • LOL just because you say something doesn't make it true. There are idiots in every society (see your post) that are always unhappy when freedoms are abundant and the people are liberated.

Contrary to what your pansy libtard hippy ass thinks is the reality, I have many brothers that were over in Iraq that know the truth. You really need to stop turning to BSNBC and Jon Stewart for your world politics, they don't do you any good.

I know that Bush Derangement syndrome is a real thing, Get help!

  • I didn't ask you to believe me. Research it yourself retard. Iraqis were dancing in the streets retard. By the way, what happened to those WMDs? That's why we went originally remember?

Let me guess I should watch Fox News right? Is that why a Pew Research Poll showed that Fox Noise viewers actually got the most answers wrong when it came to basic facts on current events?

Let me guess your dumbass voted for Bush twice. You should really tx your Obama DS. Have fun in political wilderness.

  • Actually, the allied coalition invaded Iraq because of Hussein's non-compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 1441, passed on 11/8/2002.

The UN passed the resolution for four main reasons, including human rights abuses, refusal to allow weapons inspections in violation of cease-fire agreements, and the abuse of the so-called "oil for food" program.

Plus, your use of the derogatory "retard" reveals latent hostility and bigotry often associated with insecurity and ignorance.

  • So you're saying that the United States invaded bc of the UN? You really are a retard as the United States never listens to the UN on anything.

  • Nor should we.

  • What about the millions of dead Iraqis? Maybe we should ask them?

  • Millions? Really? You might want to check your facts on that stat, even by liberal media standards it is only 1/10 of what you are claiming. Please don't just say things you hope are true.

I know that liberals and facts don't really get along most of the time.

  • Is that why conservatives have to make up things like "death panels" about the legislation in Congress? If ANYONE hates facts - it's conservatives. That's why the GOP has and will continue to lose elections.

  • Wow, fuck you Conservatives for Patient's Rights.

  • Conservatives for Patient's Rights led by Rick Scott, former health insurance executive, ousted for insurance fraud (more than 1 billion)..HAHAHA!

Like the arsonist offering to help you put out the fire....hillarious....but tragic.

  • Wasnt Bush at his Crawford Ranch More than the White House?

  • Bush spent more than 480 days on vacation, more than any other president in history.

Obama takes his first vacation since taking office, and he gets attacked by a corporation led by a billionaire who was fined a billion dollars for defrauding medicare.

  • Hmmm. Obama takes seven days off while Congress is in recess, while George Bush took 31 days off right before 9/11.

  • lol as if conservatives give a shit about patients. all they care about is corporate greed. if you think otherwise you are literally a stupid fucking child

  • GWB took more vacations than any other president in history - including even the previous record holder, Ronald Reagan. And now the RW dorks are going to howl about THIS?

Pathetic. The folks who listen to, believe and recycle this crap from CPR, AFP and Freedowworks are working for the insurance companies, and they're doing it for free - helping to shaft themselves. If Rush told them to, they'd hit themselves in the forehead with hammers. (How would we know the difference?)

    Morons.

  • The most galling thing about this ad and CPR is the claim that they want to protect patients' rights. When it's pretty clear that they want to protect the current health insurance industry and maybe even mandate coverage. In other words, they want your insurance premiums but don't want to have to pay for your medical costs when you get sick or lose your job.

They could give a damn about patients' rights.

  • This is an astroturf organization and these are lies.

The health insurers have been robbing us blind and want to continue to do so...

Want to help them ? Have a nice cuppa tea.

  • HMOs are greedy and need to be replaced by a government run health care system.

  • WAKE UP AMERICA - The insurance industry and some well heeled and placed organizations are targeting The President to divert attention from the real pressing rape and pillage of the US citizens. No one will take anything away from US. Those who block and divert attention are being noticed and trust me they will feel the wrath of the voting public. It is already documented that some highly placed republicans will not run again this season because they know they will not win. WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Conservatives for Patients' Rights care about as much for patients' rights as Satan does for saving souls.

  • Where in the world does it say this Health Care plan will put a tax on soda? I am tired of the lies. No one will be forced into any public option, and a public option will reduce the cost of private insurance BECAUSE it is competition and people MIGHT choose it over private pay - once they read the coverage and realize that Lobbyist are lying about what it will do.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm laughing at the ad's subtle implication that Obama is shirking his duties by taking a vacation.

But at least "Conservatives for Patient's Rights" are not so dense as to make it any *less* subtle. If they had, they'd be running the risk of everyone pointing out that the Almighty Bush spent more time on vacation - while holding the most important job in the nation - over the last eight years that most Americans will ever enjoy in their entire lives.

  • Protect WHAT patient rights? What rights do they have - pay through the nose for coverage and then when they get sick are denied coverage? Are those the rights you are talking about protecting? Or are you protecting the disgusting salaries of insurance companies? The insurance companies are unnecessary and get between the patient and the doctor.

  • this message brought to by the INSURANCE COMPANIES. BTW, Bush was on vacation 2.7 years while president.

  • where were the griping conservatives when bush took ten times as many days off? what hypocritical nonsense

  • Get cancer and die you worthless Vampires. Yeah sure let's leave our health care to a bunch of Grover Norquist worshiping free-market trickle-down economists.

Conservatives for Patient's Right?!! The mother of all oxymorons!!! Conservatives shut regular people out of the courtrooms when HMOs kill their loved ones, so they can't sue for wrongful death after a Kaiser death-panel kills grandma!! Murder is A-OK when the free-market does it though, eh?

  • I have my own private insurance, but I support a public option, because it will put pressure on these giant private insurers to shape up and keep deductibles low. This ad is very dishonest!

  • Idiots. Mentioning Obama's vacation week when Bush broke all records of vacationing in the year leading up to 9/11. And closing with "Let's lower cost and protect patients' rights". Seriously? How is anything "lower cost" than a public option, and how does te public option put the patients' rights at risk?? I don't know what makes me more sick, that there are people who produce these ads, or that they do it because there are actually people who fall for these blatant deceptions.

  • More Asrtoturf claiming to be grassroots.

Why do the real Death Panel creators incite people to rally against non-existent death panels?

  • My first thought was of all the ridiculously lengthy Bush vacations. In that sense this video backfired. I'm not sure where its going with the vacation theme. Doesn't strike a nerve or even make much sense. I don't think this video is "unfair", it's just not very well done.

The "public option" is nothing more than a new insurance plan to compete with current insurance plans. Keeping people physically healthy - not stockholder bank accounts. You still have to pay for it if you want it.

  • I thought conservatives loved family values.

What screams family values more then a father taking time out from his job to go on vacation with his kids for a few days?

    Republican Conservatives=hypocrites

BTW, CPR is run by Rick Scott who is basically the one person you can put the blame for the "profit at all cost" attitude in health care now. You have to ask yourself why is he putting so much money into the anti-reform movement.

    Follow the money folks....

  • now that's grass roots! not

  • as grass root as the taxpayer-funded propaganda arm of the Obama administration "Organizing for America"? LOL

  • Wow, making fun of OBAMA for taking a vacation? Takes a lot of balls to do that after Bush's all time record breaking vacations. Lets see the size of them CA-HO-NAHS shall we?

  • Rick Scott, the head of CPR, is a former CEO driven out of the "health" industry for being too crooked--and getting caught.

  • HAHAHA. Epic fail in every way possible.

  • obnoxious and misleading. You Pharma and Blue Cross bosses should be getting better bang for their buck. Losers.

  • Private "health insurance" SCAMS. Every year we get crappier service and less care for far higher payments. God help you if you ever had any injury or condition before - that will make you never-to-be-covered-again.

Screw them - they have been ruining healthcare for decades. They always want more - their greed never ends - UNTIL NOW.

The Public option puts the lying scum in their place. Why make public health dependent on Wall Street run insurance scum? Their CEOs making 5800.00 an hour.

  • I am 51 years old, worked none stop untill 2006 when I was laid off by on of the biggest health insurances co. in the US. And you know it, it has been two years since I can not find a job nor do I have health insurance.

  • go to work for a hospital - they ALL need help. And you would still be working for public health directly - without cramming CEOs wallets with thousands of dollars per hour. The bosses use the platform of a "health insurance company" to get filthy rich.

Support the public plan for public health - meaning for you, yourself, and not for the profit of the few. (Who laid you off)

  • Regulations are needed to keep ins co's honest and avoid delay, delay, deny (which still happens, btw) and to ensure they have enough *cash reserves* on hand to pay claims.

But yeah, let's let them fritter away their cash reserves and then when they go belly up have millions of folks unable to pay their med bills. There's a plan.

  • When not if this bill passes, the rich will be able to continue seeing their chosen doctors and anyone making less than a million $ a year will be stuck with the Obama plan. The reason the cost of medical is so high is because we have been covering for the illegals.

  • Ummm...kidsrcritics (how apt a name that is) NONE of the current legislation would provide coverage to illegal aliens.

    Geesh.

  • Asymmetrical Policy Warfare and the Prophets of Deceit...assorted opponents are adapting campaign strategies--and smear tactics in particular--to a policy debate. Why is America listening to Fear from ppl who have taken off their uniforms? Because Fear works.

  • PERFECT!!!!!

  • When your a loser...it's a pretty shrewd strategy to muddy the waters, provide disinformation, & in general to scare people away from an idea--that will help you like, going to a doctor w/o bringing yr whole bank account.

  • Those who would stop you from seeing a doctor, obtaining life saving drugs, saving your child from cancer...is asymmetrical warfare at work--and at its worst.

  • Fellow citizens: What is coming from the ANTI health care ppl is psychological warfare on radio, tv and internet.

This is an example, this very ad.

  • This video is created by a well-known swift-boater. Take it with a huge grain of salt.

  • Bush took vacations to camp david, and Texas, his home. Not like our savior Obama who goes here, there and everywhere on YOUR dime. Wake up, realize Obama sucks, his heath care will never work. If bush had done even a quarter of the bullshit Obama has done, or even tried to he would have been hung by his nuts. Hard liberals are some of the most hipocritical fucktards I think ever wandered this planet.

  • Bush was always a fake cowboy. His Crawford ranch had always been for the cameras. He sold it right after his term ended. But he sure took a lot of vacation time there.

  • Bush set records for being on vacation.

    Especially in August of 2001.

  • bush spent over 700 days on vacation. that was 700 days he wasn't fucking things up. i only wish he had spend another 4200 days away we might not be in such bad shape.

after President Barack Hussein Obama has been in office for 8 years, he won't have taken as many vacations as bush. hell after 8 months, he's already done more actual work than dumbya did in 8 years.

  • "Conservatives for the continued ripoff of citizens"

So the President proposes spending $1 trillion over ten years. We spent more that than in Iraq and Afghanistan. In fact, in the same time period, it's estimated that the govt. will spend 8 times this amount on our military.

Talk about screwed up values. Get real America....we are the laughing stock of the world.

  • Yep ...your right.. conservatives like me are constantly ripping off people by paying our electricity bills :)

  • What has the electric bill have to do with what phxdamo wrote?

Look, I don't think conservatives are behind these ads, not directly. Lobbyist are for the Drug?Insurance companies who don't want to lose their huge profits.

Republicans ... push your representatives to cooperate in correcting areas in the bill they object to with suggestions for improvement instead of sitting on their hands.

Dems, push the the bill through as is if the Rep. will not work with you. Stop the politics.

  • it has everything to do with the electric bill. The fact that democrats protect the lazy by bailing them out by using taxpayer money to bailout bad mortgages. why is this my fault that so many people signed on the dotted line on something that they could not afford?

  • Obama's Socialism must be stopped. Its time to rise up against all socialism, starting with Medicare. Why should we provide taxpayer funded healthcare for old people? Why, I ask? If they can't pay cash or buy their own insurance they should be treated exactly the same way as the millions of poor children with no healthcare. Are we really supposed to care about the health of children and old folks? Let good old capitalism decide who gets treated. This is America, long live our Almighty Dollar!

  • I miss the good old free market capitalism of 1929.

Why can't we bring that back?

  • I hope you've noticed that you pro government health cheerleaders are in the minority.

  • I hope you've noticed that your insurance premiums are going to Wall Street bureaucrats, Washington Lobbyists and Madison Avenue advertising.

Just wait until you're diagnosed with a preexisting condition or your job is outsourced to China.

  • Actually, I'm an insurance agent. I know EXACTLY where my premiums are going. They pay my middle class staff. Who are average, normal people. Just like you and me. Stop reading into the liberal spin.

  • ParadigmPenguin: If you work for a publicly traded insurance company, then you should know exactly where the profits are going. Hint: they're not going to your middle class staff.

PS thanks for pointing out your financial interest in this debate. I'm sure you really have my family's best interests at heart.

  • But they are. That's just the thing. Sure, a notable amount of money goes to corporate, but I've seen how it's spent first hand. It doesn't go to lobbyists. I get my license renewed, pay the rent on my office, postage meter, computers, etc.

Obviously I care about MY family first and foremost, but there's a serious misconception. The insurance industry is NOT the corporate juggernaut that it's frequently made out to be. It's made of honest, hardworkng (mostly) people.

  • But those honest, hardworking ins co workers have to go through a matrix of managers to get auth to pay claims-that's a built in delay tactic that unfortunately in too many cases also leads to denial of the claim.

  • The insurance industry spent over $150 million on lobbying in 2008 alone. It is in the top 10 of campaign contributions to politicians. That's a corporate juggernaut by any definition.

And, yes, obviously you care about your family first. And you are welcome to continue with private health insurance coverage for your family. But you want to DENY MY OPTIONS, you want to LIMIT MY FAMILY'S FREEDOM to have a federal health financing option. Of course, that might cut into your profit margin.

  • Comment removed

  • so, instead profits going to wall street and also stock holders in the form of dividend payouts and increased market price. .. they would go to a gov't beuracrat?

  • Medicare has a 4% overhead. It's three times more efficient than the private alternatives.

I would GLADLY pay a federal employee who does their job, instead of sending my premiums to trust funder investors like Paris Hilton and the Saudi Monarchy.

  • Exactly right. The bureaucrat makes a lot less than the greedy CEO and the worthless "investor class." End result: The rich lose money, and everybody else gets cheaper health care. Sounds like a good deal to me!

  • now when you say minority are you talking about the 76% pro government health cheerleaders or the 22% anti government health fearleaders?

Question: In any health care proposal, how important do you feel it is to give people a choice of both a public plan administered by the federal government and a private plan for their health insurance--

    Extremely important...58%

    Quite important...19%

    Not that important...7%

    Not at all important...15%

    Not sure..1%

Survey USA national poll August 19, 2009:

  • By the way, I don't remember "Conservatives for Patients' Rights" complaining when George Bush was taking the longest vacations in presidential history while IGNORING the health care crisis.

That's because CPR loves the status quo of the insurance companies making a killing.

  • Where is your messiah right now?? Oh that's right he is on VACATION. Yeah nice try.

  • Unlike Bush who has been on vacation more than any modern day president even before 9/11. Obama doesn't make the laws dumbass, Congress does.

  • nice language. No wonder you are losing this debate.

  • Hypocrites... when were conservatives interested in lowering costs... when we were spending money out of our asses during the Bush Years... I mean... TWO WARS!!!!!!!! Are you seriously talking to us about Lowering Costs??????

  • I dont understand what lowering costs and the Bush admninstration have anything to do with healthcare. But, this gov't purpose is to protect the country so, if it decides to go to war that is something it is supposed to do. This gov't should not have anything to do with running a healthcare system as this is not prescribed in our US Constitution.

  • j071174-COMMERCE CLAUSE.

Read the bill. Read the bill. Read the bill. And the multiple Supreme Court rulings.

What's next -taking the right to vote away from women because that's not what the Founding Fathers envisioned?

  • regulating sale of insurance between state lines as is practiced today violates interstate commerce.

    Womens suffrage - nice tangent.

  • j071174: The invasion of Iraq did NOT protect our country. It wasted billions and billions of dollars, killed thousands of our soldiers and took valuable resources away from Afghanistan and other, real counterterrorism measures. The Bush Administration used the lies of con artists like Ahmed Chalabi (a convicted embezzler) and Curveball (a notorious drunk) to confuse the American public.

Even the most laissez-faire libertarians understand this. Why don't you?

  • that's the problem with you conservatives. you think you're entitled to everything but everyone else is entitled to nothing.

  • I dont think so.. I've taken out multiple student loans to obtain my Masters Degree to gain and maintain employability... NO ONE PAID MY WAY.

It's my opinion that I dont owe you shit, and, you dont owe me shit. So, if you can't find a job because you have outdated skills then you need to make your way to get some new ones. If you lose your job there's unemployment that will help you get by for a short-time.. not be a permanent fixture on the taxpayers dime.

  • you just said you're entitled to something but we're not entitled to something.

So all I'm sayin is you're a big fucking hypocrite.

  • its understood that the federal govt is to protect the nation.. not provide healthcare. I'm entitled to an opinion... just like you are.

Do you know how to process sentences into thoughts and come up with a decent response based on logic then, resorting to calling people names .. and, by names I mean calling me a "big fucking hypocrite."

  • i wasn't trying to be logical with you. you're not capable of it.

as for providing you with a decent response, why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?

  • if calling someone a 'big fucking hypocrite' is considered "decent" then, i agree that you have a "beautiful mind"

    Too funny

  • let me get this straight. using naughty language is "indecent" yet opposing a policy that will enrich and save millions of lives is "decent".

When your time comes, no doubt the heavens will have to open wide to accommodate your extreme munificence.

People will tell their children and grandchildren of your life long struggle to make sure no indecent words were spoken regardless of how many people died.

  • way to confuse the issue and nonetheless, call UHC 'decent.' It will most certainly not be decent when it bankrupts our country by expanding the deficit and the interest on our deficit continues to grow to the point that our country is unable to pay for it.

many people throughout the history of this world have no doubt been allowed into the heavens prior to a nationalized healthcare service. So, i am not worried about that. :)

  • were u this concerned about money when u spent 3 trillion dollars over 6 years in Iraq?

surely that bankrupted the country more than the estimated 1 trillion over 10 years for health care reform will.

But instead of spending 3 trillion dollars on killing and disrupting millions of lives, we'll be spending 1 trillion dollars on saving and enriching millions of lives.

See how nice that sounds? It sounds nice just like it does when you say President Barack Hussein Obama. C'mon say it with me.

  • Actually, Medicare and socialized medicine's cost controls are driving up costs for insurance companies who are passing the cost on to private insurers. Why doesn't the government drop the law restricting the insurance companies from selling across state lines? This will promote competition which drives down costs. If the feds want to 'reform' healthcare they should try minor tweaking before a massive overhaul such as a government option is passed.

  • j071174: Because insurance companies will do what is known as "regulatory arbitrage" and move their operations to the state with the weakest regulations while luring unsuspecting customers from states with strong regulations. Just like the greedy traders at Enron fucked California, the insurance companies would like to fuck the rest of the country.

  • Regulations increase the costs to provide healthcare or any other service that the govt provides to support its beuraucracy to 'govern' it. Luring customers across state lines to those states that have less regulation (which = less tax) would help lower costs and is the point.

Further, I would like to have my choice in my medical care which this proposed beuracracy will not provide.

  • j071174: less regulations = dropped coverage

Paying for your doctor visits cuts into insurance company profits.

Deregulation gave us Enron, Worldcom, Ameriquest and AIG. Only an idiot would want further deregulation of the health insurance industry.

  • I can't believe people still think that deregulation is good. What planet td they live on? It cost us a trillion in bailing out the banksters.
