Look at the whole project and you will see that the engine is mounted on large brass blocks and it has a large electric motor directly coupled to it which acts as a giant heat sink. In fact the engine doesn't really get hot enough to keep the glow plug alight!
That is true 4 strokes are quieter and more efficient but there doesn't need to be more efficiency for this project.
A small simple and cheap 2 stroke has more than enough power to turn an electric motor to generate electricity even at idle speed.
More efficiency will be in the electric motor type. I am trying BLDC motors in a new model.
