hey please help! i am making a video and am a revenue sharer .. i want to upload a video with a song in it .. i dont know if it qualifies for the royalty free music ?! what do i have to do to upload it properly ?
@jarduli You submit the information when you first submit your video for monetization, or when they send you a letter asking for more information. If they send it from "noreply" they will sometimes include a link where you can add more info.
I have submitted the same information as I used to. All my videos are alike (just me painting, nothing copyrighted). The background music is recorded me in a private studio that I paid for so no copyrighted use of software. No info or links in the email. I need some guidance! Its my last video just have a look, nothing there. It is not even Creative commons.
@jarduli Well they might want to know specifically what software you used to record the music, and whether any of the samples used in the music are prohibited from commercial use (ie. Reason does not allow commercial use of some of their loops, etc). In one instance, I actually had to send them the original media I recorded on my camcorder which made up the bits and pieces I used in a song I made. Extreme, I know, but they want to know everything sometimes.
BUT where? Where did you send it. I dont mind digging in and sending all the documents. I use the same music in all my videos so it will come handy. just don't want for this to happen again or even worse, to disable my all videos. Do you remember where did you send yours?
@jarduli Did they just flatly turn you down? If so, maybe re-upload the video and give them better information. But be warned that if they feel that you are repeatedly submitting ineligible videos they may take action against you (rare, but it can happen)
Well, they are saying that I need to upload documentation. It's just that don't give me any links, contacts and the email is no_reply@. I have been googling it, trying to find out where to send the documents. No luck so far. That is my problem. Want to send it, BUT DONT KNOW WHERE??? :(
@jarduli Try disabling the monetization on the video, and then re-enabling it, and in the submission form enter the proper information... none of this 'I created this and it's mine and I own the rights' nonsense. They obviously want specifics.
The video has been disabled, obviously. And the option for enabling it has gone. I would have to re-upload it to see it again but Id rather not. Do you think its best to give up on this one and improve my future monetization description?
@AwesomeSauceInAJar According to the iMovie License Agreement "Except as otherwise provided, all Sample Content included in the Apple Software may be used on a royalty-free basis in your own video projects but may not be distributed on a standalone basis."
@koreandollxoxo you should read the license information yourself to find out what it means as it applies to you. Most video software comes with music but states in the fine print that it is for non-commercial (personal) use only. It's up to you to figure it out.
Thanks for the info. Great video, lol. :). Helped me a lot, and I've been going through the same stuff. Glad to know I'm not the only one and clicked on the this video, and heard the same stuff I've been going through. Really helpful, so I subbed, and liked and favorited lol. XD
Nice video, not sure if you actually still read this, but am I still allowed to upload copyrighted content when I do not mark those videos for revenue sharing?(Remember, I do not have a full partnership.)
@BroBryce2009 Thanks for the quick reply. I do have about 6 videos with matched third party content right now, had them for a long while. I set them as private now though, will I ever be able to mark them as public again or would I get into trouble for that? (Again, I only have the option to earn revenue, not a full partnership.)
@LosTSouL99NL Well, if they take it to the next step you will have a strike against you. If you have copyrighted material in your videos I would recommend deleting them entirely. Too many people are losing their YT accounts over violations. The reason why they're able to offer so many partnerships and revenue sharing to so many people is because almost all of them screw it up somehow and lose it almost immediately.
Hello! I make music videos, such as adele someone like you or coldplay songs. I also make vlogs and other videos. I would like to only enter my original videos, such as the vlogs etc. Would they still accept if they see that my other videos are "copyrighted" or "matched third part content" ?
@IGottaLoveCereal Yes and no. It's possible that if your original videos have enough traffic, they might offer you to revenue share on those videos. However if you were to apply for partnership, those flags on your account will almost definitely disqualify you from the partner program. Also, if they see fit to it, you might find that Google will disable your Adsense account or your YouTube account due to copyright infringement. Happened yesterday to a friend of mine.
@IGottaLoveCereal I deleted mine. These days people are losing their accounts fast, because Congress is looking to make streaming copyrighted material a felony with prison time attached to it.
@karimspiano I think it depends on how the trademark is presented. I would ask an attorney to be sure. I know Fair Use only covers it if you are making commentary or parody about it, but the scope of fair use is wider than just that.
I just applied for partnership and I'm scared now. Did they ever ask you to pay anything for your vids? Like if it was claimed copyright did they make you pay?
@gorillabread No they don't make you pay but you can lose partnership, or they might just place ads on your video (which pays them instead of you). I have a video that someone else is claiming copyright to, but the entire video is original by me, so I'd rather take the video down than make them money that they didn't earn.
@jbgandhi2 well, copyright is not intended to protect the original artist -- it's really meant as a way to compel others to create new content, which is supposed to be good for the community.
utube recently sent me a invite for revenue sharing ..my latest videos have music from kevin macleod..i did place his name and website in the credits..is this going to be a problem for me ....thanks stingray8213
@stingray8213 As long as you tell them it is Kevin's music, send them a link to his site, a link to his license page, and a link to his FAQ page (all places where he states his terms of use) you should have no issues.
@strickmans I don't think anyone knows the average. It depends on the type of video and what caliber of advertiser it attracts, as well as how many views you get. There's a lot that goes into figuring all that out. I know people who make a few dollars a month, and people who make thousands.
I have a couple questions: 1. Is iTunes copywrited? 2. When you said if you get "flaged" and you are not a partner, will it ruin your chances of being a partner even if you delete the video? 3. Can you change music of remove it in youtube without deleting it? 4. Why does youtube threaten to to remove a video if you submit it for revenue sharing sometimes? Thanks!
@stevefrog8 1. Yes, unless you see a note somewhere specifically saying something (actually ANYTHING) is PUBLIC DOMAIN or CREATIVE COMMONS, you should always assume it is copyrighted because in the USA, all creative works are immediately copyrighted upon creation. 2. It might not totally ruin you, but even after you delete a video the flag remains and they can sometimes hold a grudge for years (they did with me). 3. You can use Audioswap. 4. Because they can. But I've never had them do it
OH MY GODDNESS... I AM SO HAPPY! MY VIDEO WAS ACCEPTED, THANK YOUSO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP! YOU GAVE ME THE COURAGE TO SEND IT IN AND FOR THE FIRST TIME I AM IN ADSENSE!!! THANKS AGAIN :)
hey i have a video thats called Dare Virus | Mw2 | Montage and it is in a folder called revenue sharing videos and im not sure how to get paid? I was wondering how to put ads on my vids.
Great video. I was wondering what site you go to to get information on whether a song is public domain or not. Where did you go for "Itsy Bitsy Spider" for example?
Thank you so much! I actually sent the video about an hour before I received your response.. I was thinking "let me just send it and see what happens" and after I received your response I felt a little better about my desicion. Ill keep u posted to see what they say and wiil learn my lesson for next time.. Thanks so much again :)
GREAT VIDEO! I just got asked by youtube to enter my video for revenue,, it is at 18000 views... i have never done this before.. i wanted to see if you can help me because it was a faint background music from a radio and also there is a googled ballerina picture... please if you have time check it out and tell me what u think. The title is: How To Make Easy Cute Party Centerpiece
@noraulove Thanks! If it's faint in the background, but still recognizable, YouTube music ID software will likely eventually pick it up. I have a video I published a long time ago with some Google'd images in it, and YouTube turned it down for revenue sharing because of those images. If they let it slide, great! Just know that next time you gotta turn the music off and stick to pictures you took yourself or images you either made or have a license to (and can prove it on paper).
checkout my channel and watch my Adsense video for the EASIEST way to make money from google using adsense.. i promise it will work if you have at least 1 revenue share video
@liquidexclusive You aren't making money from that video, because you have copyrighted music in it, and that video has no content other than the description asking people to do "ad-for-ad" clicking, which is against YouTube's Terms of Service. This is not helpful.
1 of my videos has been accepted for revenue sharing but that video has thousands of views. Is it possible to have the accept more with a few number of views
@501clonetrooper Occasionally, a video does very well and YouTube will come to you and offer to partner that video. If you want to revenue share more of your videos, you would apply for partnership at youtube com slash partners. Otherwise, you'll have to wait until the vids become popular enough that YT comes to you again with the same offer.
@BeautyByKellie Sorry for the slow response. As I said to 501clonetrooper, sometimes YouTube comes to you and offers to partner a single video. To partner more of your videos, you will have to apply for partnership.
I got ads on the individual video it was all fine, i have a song cover with 1500 views and i just checked it and it has ads on too but i have never enabled revenue sharing for it, i was wondering will clicks on that just add up with the one i put ads on, or am i losing money?
@windsurfben Those videos that you have with music on them, if they are copyrighted music, YouTube is probably revenue sharing with the person or label that made the original music (probably in an attempt to keep them from suing YouTube's pants off). You will not be able to get revenue sharing or any money for those videos.
Thanks man. Now I have no doubt that this is not for me. I have have many of my videos getting the "Apply for revenue sharing" tab attatched to them, but holy f*ck - I am glad I didn't.
I guess inocent until proven guilty doesn't apply here, I mean, they should be the ones who tell you that a song is "public domain" - you shouldn't have to prove it to them.
Liked your video here. Quick question: With all this back and forth hassle and the time it takes, is it even worth it? I mean, why bother if it's only going to bring a couple dollars a month?
Thats to Much To become Partner I just applyed and my videos are full of copyright music and and pics fuck that ill just do this for fun!!! Nice Video
Wow! This sure is eye opening information for me, Bryce. My first exposure to all this was on my first YouTube channel, which I have deleted, where I was using Freeplay music. My fault! I should have read the fine print with Freeplay. I used Freeplay music in a lot of my son's Track & Cross Country videos, only to find out it wasn't actually free. Thanks for the great info. This partner deal sounds harder than I had originally believed.
@OutdoorsmanByDesign Thanks Matt. I've had to jump through a lot of hoops. I'm hoping this can be helpful to prepare folks for what they're working up to.
Bryce, just wondering if you have heard of this before. I went on my account page in mid December and saw that Youtube had added another link on my account page.(Partner settings) When I clicked on the link it said, Congratulations you have been accepted as a partner. (something like that) I was able to read all the things I could do as a partner. I was excited! When I went to add one a video to revenue sharing I was unable to and the next day my Partner settings link was gone & is still gone??
@lovelyladycakes Did this just happen to you recently? Two weeks after I posted this I got my official e-mail inviting me to the partnership program. Maybe you could be next!
awsome video... altho I didnt have to much trouble with getting my video's approved....but I do have a few that I didnt get approved :(. lol.. so I know where u r coming from
@melindagilman yeah they didn't even LOOK at the links I sent them. Or they wouldn't have sent me a whole new set of questions today regarding the last 3 videos. This variety of YT partner "enforcement" is a huge pain. Thanks for watching, Mel!
@MindPower009 there's a very simple way round all of your issues, just tell Youtube fuck all about your video, if you just say I created this video and I own all the copyright to all contense in the video they don't ask for any of that. if you have to back it up later on then do that.
@Domingo0022IWAY I really hope you get it. I think you will. Your content really helps to promote others -- but be prepared to show you have permission to show EVERYTHING (and all the other people's content, too!) in your videos. Ugh.
Great video. I just got partnership and I can say that I've been a little shocked at how intense it has been with all the crazy crack downs on videos. It's going to end up pushing people out, or into less entertaining videos simply because of all the pitfalls.
@olinselot I am so with you. I own a commercial license to use Digital Blasphemy images in my videos (and Ryan Bliss of DB actually sent them a letter saying so!) but because of the hassles I have stopped using them -- several of my videos were declined because I didn't have a signed, written statement from Ryan. Today I was greeted with more emails asking to see the actual license agreement TEXT from the music products I use, one of which is a public domain program from 1991.
@MindPower009 - It is insanely frustrating. I have had a few declined over the dumbest of things. People who use a lot of special effects, music, and green screen will have major problems trying to prove ownership or rights to everything. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds. Either start creating your own stuff, become a graphic designer and music producer yourself or water down your show to nothing more than commentary and vlogging.
@joehandsome99 yeah just a warning to ya... you might wanna look at the license information on the music that comes with MEP... I'm beginning to think we're being FORCED to make our videos lamer!
@ATCRyderX That's funny... I -JUST- finished uploading this and then you commented. Awesome. Hey y'know you don't have to be a full partner. If one of your videos starts going crazy, they'll send you an email asking you to submit it for revenue sharing. Then you'll make half the revenue from all the ads put on it.
@MindPower009 yep I have Revenue Sharing on my other account for one video and I've raked in a solid $15 this year. Things are looking good. Pf. They've offered me Revenue Sharing on videos I don't actually have all the rights to before and ofcourse I had to opt out.
hey please help! i am making a video and am a revenue sharer .. i want to upload a video with a song in it .. i dont know if it qualifies for the royalty free music ?! what do i have to do to upload it properly ?

I guess inocent until proven guilty doesn't apply here, I mean, they should be the ones who tell you that a song is "public domain" - you shouldn't have to prove it to them.
Thanks again.

Liked your video here. Quick question: With all this back and forth hassle and the time it takes, is it even worth it? I mean, why bother if it's only going to bring a couple dollars a month?

do you have to pay every time u Revenue Share a video?
lonelyboy323 1 year ago
@lonelyboy323 Nope, it's 100% free, but you have to apply for partnership, and YouTube has to approve it.

Finally a instructive vid which actually has useful information in it

@MudRFunR this happened on mine too did you figure it out?
lovelyladycakes 1 year ago
@lovelyladycakes Did this just happen to you recently? Two weeks after I posted this I got my official e-mail inviting me to the partnership program. Maybe you could be next!
MudRFunR 11 months ago
wow, the next thing you'll have to prove is ownership of your computer. LOL
But that is a lot of red tape to go through
congrats on the partnership for your other channel
Happy Holidays to you

links are not good enough. They want written permission/release from the artist faxed to them.
oldvision 1 year ago
@melindagilman yeah they didn't even LOOK at the links I sent them. Or they wouldn't have sent me a whole new set of questions today regarding the last 3 videos. This variety of YT partner "enforcement" is a huge pain. Thanks for watching, Mel!

@MindPower009 there's a very simple way round all of your issues, just tell Youtube fuck all about your video, if you just say I created this video and I own all the copyright to all contense in the video they don't ask for any of that. if you have to back it up later on then do that.
soulsanctuarymusic1 11 months ago
Very helpful Bryce! All I can say is I'm just waiting on them to approve me.
Domingo0022IWAY 1 year ago
@Domingo0022IWAY I really hope you get it. I think you will. Your content really helps to promote others -- but be prepared to show you have permission to show EVERYTHING (and all the other people's content, too!) in your videos. Ugh.

@MindPower009 After Watching this video, I believe I have an idea of what to be ready to do :)

Great video. I just got partnership and I can say that I've been a little shocked at how intense it has been with all the crazy crack downs on videos. It's going to end up pushing people out, or into less entertaining videos simply because of all the pitfalls.
olinselot 1 year ago
@olinselot I am so with you. I own a commercial license to use Digital Blasphemy images in my videos (and Ryan Bliss of DB actually sent them a letter saying so!) but because of the hassles I have stopped using them -- several of my videos were declined because I didn't have a signed, written statement from Ryan. Today I was greeted with more emails asking to see the actual license agreement TEXT from the music products I use, one of which is a public domain program from 1991.
MindPower009 1 year ago
@MindPower009 - It is insanely frustrating. I have had a few declined over the dumbest of things. People who use a lot of special effects, music, and green screen will have major problems trying to prove ownership or rights to everything. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds. Either start creating your own stuff, become a graphic designer and music producer yourself or water down your show to nothing more than commentary and vlogging.

Welcome to my world brother!
The grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence.
Opps, I hope that phrase isn't owned and copyrighted by someone and YouTube makes me prove that I can use it. LOL....
Keep up the great work ~ Eric

@joehandsome99 yeah just a warning to ya... you might wanna look at the license information on the music that comes with MEP... I'm beginning to think we're being FORCED to make our videos lamer!

I was just looking for a video about this and it popped up in subscriptions. Too bad I'm not a Partner, but you're a Mind Reader, MindPower.
ATCRyderX 1 year ago
@ATCRyderX That's funny... I -JUST- finished uploading this and then you commented. Awesome. Hey y'know you don't have to be a full partner. If one of your videos starts going crazy, they'll send you an email asking you to submit it for revenue sharing. Then you'll make half the revenue from all the ads put on it.
MindPower009 1 year ago
@MindPower009 yep I have Revenue Sharing on my other account for one video and I've raked in a solid $15 this year. Things are looking good. Pf. They've offered me Revenue Sharing on videos I don't actually have all the rights to before and ofcourse I had to opt out.
