@Amtrak1194 - Not certain, wasn't one of mine (I owned the 3-cylinder Shay pulling the log train, & the "Ruby" 2-4-2 pulling a short train of Bachmann passenger cars). I'm going to guess either Accucraft or Roundhouse - maybe someone who recognizes it might chime in. ;)
what are those weird steam locos i saw on her where the pistons are going up and down and to rod and not side to side like a regular steam engine called? 0:50-1:05 that engine?
That's my Accucraft 3-cylinder Shay; the prototype was Mich-Cal Lumber Co. #5 (scrapped in the 1950's). Shays were commonly used in logging or mining operations; the vertical cylinders (2 or 3) turn a crankshaft that drives the wheels on the 4-wheel trucks via a series of slip & universal joints & bevel gears. This permitted these locos to operate on rough, temporary track & tight curves. The gearing also enabled them to climb steep grades (up to 10% or a bit more) with heavy loads.
This is G gauge; scales vary from 1:32 (standard gauge prototypes) to 1:20.3 (US 3-ft. narrow gauge, such as my Shay). Most of the locos seen here were either made by Accucraft (my Shay & "Ruby" 2-4-2, for example), or Aster (the Berkshire, 3-truck Climax, & "Reno" 4-4-0).
That Shay is fantastic! See folks, there really IS more to "life" than sitting in front of the idiotic tv set night after boring night. I'm not about to burn my little N guage rr, tho......O;-)
If you were referring to the Nickle Plate loco in the pacing shots on the 30-or-so car freight, that was an Aster Berkshire (2-8-4)- MUCH more expensive than the Aristo Mike! ;) The narrow gauge 2-8-2's were Accurcraft K27's or K-28's. There was an Aristo Mike there, but unfortunately I was elswhere when it ran. From what I've seen of the Aristo's, they run very well! ;)
I got to drive a Berkshire in 7 1/4 inches (live steamer) at the swiss vapeur parc! If you have a look at the video " Swiss Vapeur Parc Compilation" you'll see it at the beginning
Yes, it it. Also, the Ruby #11 2-4-2 pulling Bachmann passenger coaches is mine as well. If you watch the Ruby portion carefully, there is an old man in a wheelchair who was apparently QUITE fascinated with it - his son is pushing the wheelchair around the layout in sync with the Ruby, pacing it! ;)
Why do you have Thomas

@robyn051 - Not EVERY blue British steam locomotive is a "Thomas the Tank Engine"! ;) This one WASN'T.

At least it is not using electricity! :D I could use it in a power outage! So that means:
"Hey Matt, what are you doing in the dark?"
"I'm playin with my train!"

Oh.. I love the Shay and the Heisler, and the big steamers are gorgeous. I'd love to get into live steam if I had more room and more money.
