Larry is my Cousin when ever he comes into kentucky and he is near by we always go and see him. My god to believe he is in his 70's right now he doesnt look a day over 50, and he got married about 3 years ago for the first time in his life. But in all he is happy with his life and what his career has brought him. he retires in a few more years from what he said, he wants to keep going as long as he can. Love you Larry!
Laryy is an AMAZING player and a great guy too! I was with Buddy Morrow and The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra from 1988-2003. We NEVER played a Glenn Miller tune... Buddy also led the GMO for awhile in the mid 70's.
This tune was specifically arranged for the Glenn Miller Orchestra by Dave Wolpe. Larry's idol/mentor Buddy Morrow plays one of the definitive versions of this tune and Larry plays it in homage to both of those fine players
I caught Larry O'Brien & the Glenn Miller Orchestra last night, the preformance was wonderful! I plan on seeing them again when they pass through town!
too bad this stuff isnt listened to toady on the radio....my stepfather was born in 1920 & lived through this era....wish i could have been there with him!
quietlylovely1, I saw the blog, and it is truly something beautiful. Your parents looked like really beautiful, passionate people, and my condolences. Take good care! All the best!
Memories rush back to my high school days over 45 years ago at R.H King HS in Scarborough Ontario Canada
where I did the DJ duties at our Friday night dances.
I remember this tune so well as it was often requested
at the end of the evening as a last dance along with anything by Ray Coniff's orchestra. Romance was in the air after these records. Thanks for the memory maestros.
This is the song my parents danced to to Glenn miller at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago when they were young. this was their song and danced to it at every wedding and ball. They were in love till the day they died. Check out their pics at my 360 yahoo Grandma Coffee's blog.Thank you for posting this. It made me cry as I listened and remembered their love of this song and each other.Thank you

Prcatice, I also like his Autumn in New York. I played trombone and sucked for a year, then all of a sudden I got really good.

"I'm Getting Sentimental Over You" was Tommy Dorseys signature song, not Glenn Miller's!

My favorite song of all time. My late Grandfather taught it to me, and taught me to appreciate all of the great music from this era.
Thanks for the memories.

Nice Version of Tommy Dorsey's theme! Larry's a great player and a nice man! Always a great band too! I'm partial toward Buddy Morrow in his prime...
