The real problem with homelessness is that they have no where to build. People think they are lazy drug addicts (which is sometimes true) but if these people were allowed to build structures on the outskirts of town, most homeless people would. You'd be surprised how well people could live with recycled building materials too. if god made this land for us than why do we have to buy it from other people with more land than they use?
That is nice if you are out in the country a bit, and you choose to live outside. But, in the city it can not be done. The city removes all homeless camps after a whie A young senior Fresno Cal Thanks
Miss alaska tent lady this video was absolutely amazing! I was wondering how I can find out more about your story as I myself am interested in retreating from society for a small. Of my life and living in solitude in the wild and self sufficient if possible. Do you have any idea where I can get information on how to go about this as intelligent me as possible. Many thanks for your wonderful information in this video
That was a great vid. Being able to make the scale models was a great idea. The problem I have found with most people today is, they lack vision. The ability to look at a large space or pile of left over material and imagine all the different thing it can become.
lol. These structures would be illegal in most cities. (Without a professionally engineered plan, submitted drawings to the city, etc.) Yes it sucks, but most cities have laws like these.
@linagee Very true. American communitarian laws are so restrictive and progressive that in the very near future all consumers formerly known as people will have to live inside a regulated box in an approved sustainable redeveloped community. Freedom doesn't mean living free or thinking free.. it means believing slavery is freedom.
@superbungabunga the real problem is the government doesn't have enough insustainable units to put all the homeless into. I haven't found one established org or govt agency that can claim to have provided a solution, even temporary. It really irks me when I find a "homeless" organization that doesn't build housing, but uses the grants and donations to "study" the problem. As if the problem and the solution isn't obvious.
@superbungabunga Heck! Our country isn't self-sustaining. Look at how much goods we have to import and how much of American companies' labor is outsourced to other countries.
I've tried for years to get away from "the box." I've lived in an RV--which I liked a lot but HAD to have it in a park thus I HAD to pay rent. I owned land but couldn't use it b/c I didn't have 100's of thousands of dollars to build a 2000 sq. ft. house. I live alone, why would I need a 2,000 sq. ft. house. I'd have to get a full time job just to pay for it. This nation is becoming insane.!!!
@mccartherable the expectation that we need huge living spaces that require us to work like dogs to pay for it is part of the insanity, I agree! My gertees have always been set up in RV parks. I like having the amenities. I usually trade my labor for the space, I made websites for 2 of the parks i was in and i clean the bathrooms at the one I'm in now. Many of my readers have assumed i live "off the grid" and while i know i could do that, i don't want to make my life any harder than it is!
My uncle is fighting the city right now where we live... they are trying to stop him from building his yert on his own land. Apparently in our area compost toilets are illegal. :(
He had to spend thousands of dollars on stuff he didn't even need just so they would leave him alone.
I'm with him. I'm ready for peace, contentment, privacy, and change.
