  • This might be what life would be like without spoken language....

  • Frederik Thordendal's lookin at this dude saying in his mind, "he ACTUALLY knows the drumming??!!!!" and the other dude is like mind replying, "yep. and what nigga?'

  • @TALLMIDGET818 my bad Fredrik, not Frederik

  • whats amazing is that theres what, 4 riffs total and yet its so interesting and tells a story

  • やべえ馬鹿じゃねーの(良い意味で)

  • WHEN YOU THINK YOU CAN PLAY PROG THESE MOTHERFUCKERS APPEAR AND MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE A SHIT!!!!!...DAMN...

  • So people... Tomas Haake or Morgan Agren? Which one you prefer and which one you think is better?

  • hahaha yeh u do that ur welcome here in sweden =)

  • For those who don't know - the UR in the top right corner means Utbildningsradion, and it's kind of an educational TV-show with lots of varying subjects. This is from Morgans drum show. Sometimes I really love swedish television.

  • @Chrisbajs It's improved I believe, They can't be perfect. ... Your perfect right?

  • @Chrisbajs Improvized* ... My point.

  • man his 7 string look so tinny if you compare it with the actually 8 string

  • the drummer Ågren is from hell!!

  • sometimes the intensity of hearing meshuggah makes me uncomfortable, just because of how insanely amazing it is, but its okay, because i kind of like it. its like a kink factor or something <3

  • @TheAlmightyrat its a medley of riffs put together from fredriks side project.

  • This shit is dope as............dope.

  • Fredrick looks fuckin crazy.

  • I BET THERE´S AN ASIAN WHO CAN PLAY BETTER THAN THIS...BECAUSE...THERE´S ALWAYS ONE RIGHT???...

  • this is the shit

  • Jävla musik. Arrrrrrrgggghh......

  • I didn't know Toki Wartooth played for Meshuggah!

  • @tank200926 this isn't meshuggah, it's Sol Niger Within, they were all in the band including Morgan.

  • @tank200926 Toki Wartooth not a bumblebee, who knew Toki played with meshuggah under Fredrik's disguise ha he owns skwisgaar

  • what is going on on their minds during this

  • ..why does he have a piece of tape on his guitar?

  • @FvckYovrGod666 Mutes first 3

  • @FvckYovrGod666 probably because he doesnt want to use those strings

  • @useltrummis makes sense, but it confused me lol

  • Потрясающий драммер!!!

  • How can you not love this guy , i mean look at him he looks like fuckin toki from dethklok hahaha

  • @mariusel666 i think that guy from dethklok is supposed to be models from fredrik

  • worst shampoo commercial ever ... love the music though.

In fact the music is interfering with my typing so sorry, gotta stop typing listen again!!! XD

  • 4:53 Fredrik tought: Damn, video quality is decreasing like shit!

  • correct video/sync type "Meshuggah (Fredrik) + Morgan Incredible Medley"

  • the vid is out of sync..........otherwise awesome

  • The playing is better here than on the album.

  • how can you no like this?

  • How could anyone in their right FUCKING mind not like this video?! INCREDIBLE SKILL IN THIS VIDEO!!

  • WRITE FREDRIK THORDENDAL !!

  • he looks exactly like toki wartooth from metalocalypes (dethklok)

  • @nowilaytheedown1 They based Toki after him, lol

  • @ThatGuy1154 they based Toki after Mikael Åkerfeldt from Opeth. I was surprised when i found out it wasn't Frederik, they look very similar. IMO Toki looks for like Frederik than the guy from Opeth

  • @mp5k69mmkay They based Toki's personality on Mikael but I think they might of based the appearance on Frederik. Either way, I still consider Toki to be Frederik lol

  • @MaLaKaThIsS Yeah they did base his appearance on Frederik.

  • @nowilaytheedown1 WOW!! He fucking does look like Toki!!

  • i want that sound..........

  • I love how Thorendal has that grin that says "You crazy motherfucker..." all the time. Wonderful!

  • Polyrhythm Nirvana....I swear, if Mozart was composing stuff ...now., it just might look like this...

  • Fuck this shit I'm packing my bags and moving to Sweden.

  • @samathanwataguan

    can i come with?

  • @neolithicmembrane Okay. Lets' do this.

  • @samathanwataguan Then what? youll get good at music? thats not how it works.

  • how to play drums ?? lesson one...

  • hes smiling cause he knows that what morgan is doing is so extremely hard and it sounds so insanely awesome. cant praise the rhythmic genius enough

  • 4:45 WTF ??? ¬ ¬

  • i "cum"! 10X )))

  • Suddenly, a piece of tape on the strings seems so much cooler..

  • What model marshall? DSL100?

  • Two musical geniuses at work. Morgan Agren is one of the most unique, great drummers on earth. When is Fredrik Thornendal's solo album with Morgan coming out. Mats/Morgan band also rules! Swedish music rules!

  • Just discovered Morgan Agren on YouTube. What a drummer! Mats & Morgan are bizarre and astounding !

  • Stackars er som blev så darriga av upphettning att ni råkade trycka på neråt-tummen :/

  • fucking hell that drummer is incredible

  • That kit sounds so sexy

  • they really enjoy what they play !

  • needs more cowbell

  • Shame Fredrik isn't playing his normal six string... Meshuggah have bass like no other... may as well have 3 bassists on stage! Dick Lovgren is an amazing bassist as it is!

  • @jellybrain314 usual 6 string eh?

  • @halfwaythere333 Meant 8 string XD

  • @jellybrain314 Skivan som denna låten kommer från släpptes 97, det var innan de hade börjat använda 8-strängat på allvar. Innan dess körde de på 7-strängat.

  • Nice use of duct tape!

  • zom chotze

  • jeez! these guys go better together than peanut butter and chocolate, and that is one hardass combination :D

  • why the hell is every good metal player swedish?!

  • @jake23211 because there is nothing else to do there =)

  • @jake23211 seriously though Metal and guitar based music is much bigger in a lot of other places in the world than it is in America. The have metal festivals over there that look like Woodstock does here and it'll be nothing but Metal.

  • @jake23211

Because Nords have increased endurance and resistance to frost damage.

  • @meah941 oh... makes sense.

  • @meah941 kudos for the oblivion reference dude

  • @meah941 God I think I love you

  • @meah941 Hell yeah.

  • @meah941 that is the best comment i've ever seen on you tube!

  • @sweetchildonline wow i guess quite a few of elder scrolls fans are fans of these guys lol

  • @meah941 Another reason to stay the fuck inside and practice instead of playing shit rip-off music!

  • @coloredCYANIDE

    What?

  • @meah941 I was implying that because it's so cold out people will stay in and practice and just end up putting more time into writing better, more thought-out original material, and I justify this by looking at Canadian tech-death (Gorguts, Martyr, etc). I mean people are STILL trying to match the creative genius of Frederik Thordendal today, and most really can't!

  • @meah941 See what you did there

  • @meah941 So we'll be seeing many dragon-worshipping metalheads in Skyrim.

  • @meah941

I don't think Skyrim was even released when you made that comment.. good stuff

  • ... to the place of the Mighty Ågren ? Contact me if you could actually do this, and feel free to say something about the project. Sorry for the kind of '' advertising '', but I guess there's a lot of more stupid comments on YouTube than this ... After all it may be helpful and/or interesting for all the people diggin' Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects.

  • I've been jamming the rhythmguitartracks of Sol Niger Within for quite a while now, and thought of shooting some '' covervids '', maybe even of all the songs from the album. I don't know whether this is the best place to come asking ( but hey at least I come back here all the time ), but would anyone have the talent and the balls to play drums ? I'm probably gonna do the guitartracks no matter what, but that would be the coolest ever if there'd be a YouTuber who could step up ... ( continues )

  • Cant wait for the new special defects album! meshuggah/fredrik/morgan are MATHterpieces!

  • I think i was like 14-15years old when i watched this on Swedish Tv, it blew my mind.

One of my favourite guitarists ripping it up with Morgan Ågren the swedish king of drums.

    Totally awesome.

  • 2:58 APHEX TWIN FACE FFFFUUUU

  • My rhythmic sense just got owned. Respect!

  • wats that metal thing on his strings?

  • Aah, love all the ghost notes on the snare.

  • Hah, gillar att det här gick på UR.

  • I keep getting back to this video. A sign of good music I guess :)

  • sweden rocks

  • I dont get why people unliked this :o even if u dont like the genre u need to respect this. awesome

  • Fredrik Thordendal high priest of anal probe fusion

  • man...is incredible ... the best song djent .... precious djent

Fredrik Thordendal father of progressive metal..

    I love this music

  • whats that tape stuff on Freds guitar?

  • @DeadPixel2009 Im assuming he doesnt use those strings in this song, so the tape is there for whenever he accidentally hits those strings with his pick, or rubs against them with his palm. Even if a finger on his right hand touches those strings while playing, it can cause them to vibrate and cause extra noise.

  • Goddammit, and I already had a head ache! :D

  • Toki can do great things without being overshadowed by Skwisgaar

  • im a drummer and all i can say is owww ma brainzzzz

  • Comment removed

  • Striking resemblance to Tolki from Metaloclypse

  • @chixidix kind off. it's a triplet feel in the beginning. but yeah i see what you mean

  • Jeez Fredrik makes Morgan work 4:33...

  • Toki looks like Frederick!

  • I love watching these guys because they are really enjoying this!!!!

  • the best medley ever oh my god!!!!

  • OMG its Toki Wartooth

  • OMG its Toki Wartooth

  • Gods among mankind.

  • wtf messhuggah gets morgan and haake...share please.

  • So many dumb comments on here, people don't really understand how difficult this is to make/learn/pull off well in time,it takes years of practice and i'm not talking your piss weak satriani practice I mean Dream Theatre/Jazz theory and so on....keep in mind this guys is playing off-beats with the drummer learning what he is playing, is like learning a game of chess from start to finish.

  • God damn I really want a version of this that is in sync, so I can learn the drums. So annoying.

  • I just feel like a guitarist with so much talent is limiting himself if all he really concentrates on is rhythm.

  • @AppealtoReason324 He does a bit more than rythym if you actually listen to Sol Niger Within, or any Meshuggah albums, Hagstrom is the pure rythym player.

  • Morgan Ågren drums!!

  • Comment removed

  • I think hes just Smiling Because hes having fun jamming

Dont make nothing out of nothing, all you'll get is nothing.

  • Dæven! Han jobber!

  • I sat down to try and work out how to play this. 20 seconds later I realised it just wasn't gonna happen in the next year :)

  • Comment removed

  • Fredriks face at the end was gold!

    "What the hell?"

I thought Tomas was the shit, 'till Morgan showed up! (Haake still kicks ass, though.)

  • I think he smiles because they are jammin and having a good time together!

  • @morpheusdrummer thats what i thought

  • @morpheusdrummer He probably smiles thinking "Hah, 90% of all the viewers can't play this."

  • @burningvenom who's the ten others? Tomas Haake and Dick Lovgren?

  • After the long exposure to the polyrhythms in this video, my brain has gained the ability to visualise 13-spatial-dimensional objects. I'm also pretty sure that I've spontaneously gained the ability to divide by zero as well \m/

  • @chronoporter hahah thats awesome I hope i got those abilities as well :D

  • Comment removed

  • @chronoporter well you better not try to divide by zero, it already cost to many peoples live.

  • @chronoporter best comment ive ever read.

  • @chronoporter after prolonged exposed to polyrhythms I think I understand infinity and quantum physics!

  • @chronoporter After prolonged exposure to the Polyrythms in this video, i understand women now.

    ...

Sorry, i lied, that's impossible. I think i'll have to do with knowledge how to be immortal and understanding how to warp Time-Space Continuum,

  • @chronoporter im pretty sure i must agree. this is weird man 0.o

  • @chronoporter Yeah man these dudes definitely send you way out there. I'm convinced that Fredrik's an alien. Morgen's a sick drummer too, awesome medley \m/ for sure.

  • Whats hanging from Fredriks guitar?

  • @Huitzel The thing hanging from the guitar is called "silvertejp" and it's an universal adaptation improver (useful in any situation).

  • @amusiced Its duct tape.... I see that. but whats it doing? Its kinda on an odd string too... Is he using it to dampen the tone and shorten the "attack" of the notes?

  • @Huitzel yes it's duct tape in english =) It dampens the tone which shortens the attack as you point out. I think Fredrik put it there 'cause of two reasons: practical since he doesn't use the strings; mystical since it makes you wonder what the hell.

On an acoustic guitars it could help dampen some resonating overtones, that mostly isn't a problem on an electric guitar (but who knows what mysterious reasons the mind of Fredrik grasps?).

  • @amusiced I believe it is only to stop the strings from accidentally ringing, since he isn't using them in this instance. It an easy thing to do that saves him from having to focus on muting the top strings with the picking hand. I'm sure most recording sessions use this solution when not using some strings, to keep the recording as clean as possible, even brushing a string accidentally with the picking hand will cause it to be audible and possibly cause some muddiness.

    Awesome clip btw!

  • @Airlight that was my point :) With a closed muting palm it's maybe needed. I use the same technique and it's not the best when trying to play dampened (Yngwies open hand is better) but Petrucci on the other hand seems to it with ease. I also however think that it's not ONLY for practical reasons.. the musicindustry wouldn't be anything without them mysteries :)

  • rocking hard

  • morgan looks so peacefull while playing his soothing muzikk :D

  • Amazing except for the fact the audio doesn't align with the video.

  • Anyone know where I could get this performace on audio?

  • @KevenFlood youtube2mp3, just google it

  • Video foda... Músicos de primeira... Viva a boa música...

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow!!!!!!!!

  • @Xingyiquana

    Yeah - Vildhjarta are awesome

  • Great musicians know each other.

  • I would love to see Thomas Prigden and Morgan Agren do a drum off .
