Really interesting seeing how everyone wants an interpretation. Killing the California Girls is a reference to the Beach Boys and pop music in general. Sonic Youth are an intertextual band--they refer to other works but also destroy them in the process, purposefully. This is a song about finding meaning in pleasure itself, outside of the psyche and the limits of ordinary space (three-way plane). I always took it as a surrealistic statement--a reach towards infinity.

@doppelgangerstudios Yea but now that SY has done it I can't without ripping them off. They're everything I want in my music and yet if I reflected that I wouldn't be making an original statement.....I love and hate them so much for that.

Violence was a muse SOnic youth used in there earlier days. Some of there songs , i dont think you could ever come up with a meaning by yr self.
