I just feel really sorry for the roommate...he was just an innocent victum in the whole thing and they say he was on the phone with his wife, when the boy lured him back in the house and shot him and reloaded and shot him and reloaded and shot him...a total of 7 times the kid had to reload...that was why the cops wanted to Try him as an adult...small town cops don't always do everything by the book....because the crime rate especially for murder by 8 year olds is very low...

As a christian and a mother, and knowing that this young boy was interviewed without a parent or legal gaurdian presnt raises an eyebrow with me. I was driving home from the shooting range when I heard this on the radio. Don, I don't know where you're from, but you've obviously never grown up in an environment where guns are a way of life. I use guns mainly for self defense. You say let the Police protect you, but how do you suppose the Police would get there in time for something like this? Only one time. I live in Pheonix, and one day I was going to buy some Christmas gifts for friends. I had just parked at a local Target and was getting out when 3 20 year old looking mexican guys, looking VERY suspicious, making a beeline for my car. When they got within 15 yards, I made it clear that I had a weapon, and they kind of deflated and turned back the way they came. I'd say thats preemptive self defense. I'm just glad it didn't escalate to actual shots being fired.
But think about that, where I come from a don't need a gun for selfprotection.

The problem with guns is that they make killing very easy compared to knifes. It's not that easy to kill with a knife. You have to hit the right spots. An 8 year old wouldn't ve strong enough to kill his father.
You also have to take the statistics into consideration. Granted, there was a killing spree in Japan, but Japan still has one of the lowest murder rates in the world.

People are not blank slates when they are born. They already have some inherent personal qualities and no amount of environmental factors are going to change their innate nature. If you want proof, spend some time at any hospital new born nursery and you can see for yourself. While I think it is too simple to say anyone is born "bad" many are sure as heck born difficult.

My first impression would have been that the child was on some type of medication which is usually the case in incidents like this, but the reports say he never had any history of trouble. I just feel really sorry for the roommate...he was just an innocent victum in the whole thing and they say he was on the phone with his wife, when the boy lured him back in the house and shot him and reloaded and shot him and reloaded and shot him...a total of 7 times the kid had to reload...that was why the cops wanted to Try him as an adult...small town cops don't always do everything by the book....because the crime rate especially for murder by 8 year olds is very low...

I was driving home from the shooting range when I heard this on the radio. Don, I don't know where you're from, but you've obviously never grown up in an environment where guns are a way of life. I use guns mainly for self defense. You say let the Police protect you, but how do you suppose the Police would get there in time for something like this? Only one time. I live in Pheonix, and one day I was going to buy some Christmas gifts for friends. I had just parked at a local Target and was getting out when 3 20 year old looking mexican guys, looking VERY suspicious, making a beeline for my car. When they got within 15 yards, I made it clear that I had a weapon, and they kind of deflated and turned back the way they came. I'd say thats preemptive self defense. I'm just glad it didn't escalate to actual shots being fired.

Rc well all those guns (for protection) sure didn't help the father or the roommate to protect themselves...it only thats a mega second to fire a gun and nobody has time to reach for a gun in a mega second....so guns are usually useless unless you have a warning and usually that is not the case. I have a dog for protection and that has been the best deterrent and burgler alarm possible...if someone was hiding in my closet, she would sniff them out and chew them up and spit them out...:)

The problem with guns is that they make killing very easy compared to knifes. It's not that easy to kill with a knife. You have to hit the right spots. An 8 year old wouldn't ve strong enough to kill his father.
You also have to take the statistics into consideration. Granted, there was a killing spree in Japan, but Japan still has one of the lowest murder rates in the world.

I'm not saying that every gun shot is a killer, so of course you have to hit the right spots, but they are easier to hit with a gun than with a knife.
Just an example:
For an 8 year old pushing a knife into the ribcage of an adult is almost impossible, while it can shoot it no problem.
You also need more strength to push a knife into someones belly than to pull the trigger of a gun.

You are right, the U.S. is in a different "world" than many industrialized nations when comes to gun laws. Unfortunately, though, because of the high crime rate, and particularly in lower income areas, I support keeping the rights to guns because... When someone comes in the late evening to kick down your door and rob you... You want to be able to shoot them.

omgooodd !!! No you don't want to shoot them, what you want to do is to reform your law enforcement and get some better security!!! Are you living in the USA or some poor village in Africa? And if there are sooo much crimes going on solve them first, before parading freedom and peace into other counries.

People are not blank slates when they are born. They already have some inherent personal qualities and no amount of environmental factors are going to change their innate nature. If you want proof, spend some time at any hospital new born nursery and you can see for yourself. While I think it is too simple to say anyone is born "bad" many are sure as heck born difficult.

You are so right...kids are born different and some are mad and kind of mean when they don't get their own way, even the smallest babies can have "attitude". Kids who aren't loved in the first year can have detached emotions and that is not something you can cure.....this kid scares me.
