  • damn shame this kid is dead because of hogan and jimmy hart trying to build him into a star just so hogan can sooth his bruised ego from his ass whipping by my boy ultimate warrior i one of the best wrestlemaina's and my favorite 6! then they just dump him in the toilet when ultimate warrior comes to wcw and then the kid stays a jobber!!

  • horrible outfit, worse gimmick

  • the renegade is a copi of the ultimate warrior

  • Looking back, I wonder how many people thought this was Warrior.

  • The guy had potential. The Saturday Night crowd is really responding to his gimmick in this video and he's executing a decent to above average match here.

Give the kid his due. In the end he was just another in a long line of wrestling tragedies...

  • Nice warrior splash. Jim Hellig really improved since his early 90s days with the WWF. Its odd how he regressed in ring skills for the feud with NWO Hogan just a few years later.

  • theres only ONE warrior \m/

  • Renegade was much better in-ring than Warrior, but his taunts and music were more comical than pop-inspiring.

  • Renegade was brouhgt in to WCW (the wrestler doing the gimmick was a student at the power plant) because contract negotiations to bring in the Warrior failed, and WCW had already plugged his coming in.

Renegade was hurt in a match against Joe Gomez (a poorly trained ex bartender), and was fired while he was recovering. He got addicted to pain killers, and that's what led to his suicide.

  • well i guess he wasnt a complete jobber...at first.

  • y did the renegade actually kill himself is it cuz he couldnt get a job else where y did he commint suicide

  • @wrestledon He snapped because WcW gave him a horrible career and the fired him and he tried to find a job at WWF but then said you failed to much at your matches and he snapped and killed himsef.

  • @Sonicisawsome55 thanku 4 tellin me this cuz i tryed lookin all over 4 the real reason of y he killed him self!!!

  • is this the same renegade from the uswa?

  • more talent than the ultimate warrior? maybe, but which one will people still remember in 20 years time. the bootleg beatles may have better guitarists than the original beatles but who would you rather see live? there are elvis tribute acts who technically have better voices than elvis himself had but none of them will ever beat the real thing!

  • I wonder if he still would have killed himself, if he would have lived to see WCW go under like his career did?

    RIP: Renagade

  • Probably because he just couldn't handle losing his meal ticket. He most likely had mental problems and losing a high paying gravy train he was on didn't help his mental state.Sure he had a bad gimmack but unlike the real Warrior at least his heart was into wrestling. The Ultimate Warrior's heart was never into wrestling after 1992.After his WWF run ended he was basically washed up.

  • why did he kill himself?

  • actually the texter below is right. As lame as the gimmick was, you can see in this short match Renegade was far more talented than Anabolic Warrior.

  • jimmy Hart managed Dino Bravo didnt he ?

  • and i do NOT say this cause i feel bad he commited suicide BUT i think he had a hell of alot more talent then the warrior!! watch his chain wrestling, and his matt wrestling, and the way he leaped off the ropes!! 10 times more talent then the ultimate warrior!

  • Yeah, he was younger and faster than Warrior. When was the last time you saw The Ultimate Warrior fly off the Turnbuckles like Superman and Splash an opponent? Even though the gimmick sucked, he was a good wrestler. R.I.P Renegade.

  • WCW's failed attempt 2 re-create history with the Renegade.

  • Yeah, such a promising wrestler with a shitty gimmick. Hogan and Savage kept promising the "Ultimate Surprise" hinting their partner would be The Warrior. But chances are they couldn't reach a deal with him and slapped The Warrior gimmick on Renegade, hoping we wouldn't notice. But the fans did and they booed him loudly. Sadly, Renegade will only be remembered as a cheap ripoff of The Ultimate Warrior.

  • Arn Anderson felt bad for what happened to Renegade. He said WCW management expected way too much from him in the beginning before he was even ready for such a high push.

  • RIP Renegade

  • renegade was suppose to get his push!!!

they also said he was ment to be as big as hulk hogan..

but wcw had other plans and they made him shit!!

    then he commited suicide!

    R.I.P

  • Was there anybody who really liked that guy?

  • Kind of, but he's one of these wrestlers you tend to forget about over time, especially the way WCW dropped him, typical Eric Bischoff way.

  • It'd been funny if the Warrior and the Renegade had a backstage confrontation segment in WCW. Kinda like an inside rib that only smarks would understand.

  • When Warrior came to WCW they used Renegade a number of times as his stunt double.. when he was playing mind games on Hogan in 1998.

  • y? to complete the poor guy's humiliation?

  • Jake Steele was the man! Wow what great shape he is in.

  • Anyone have Jake Steele vs Big Boss man?

  • Renegade was truly good during this period, he actually made a better Ultimate Warrior impresion than Festus did with Kane or Kane did with Diesel, but his push went down the drain when the real Warrior returned to the WWF, but still the tag team of Desperado and Renegade would have been good if marketed correctly

    RIP Renegade

  • i cant believe anyone actually believed this guy was the ultimate warrior

  • its not ultiamte warrior noob!this is Rick Williams that died!THe ultimate warrior is alive is name is James Brian "Jim" Hellwig none as WARRIOR!Learn

  • are you stupid??? read my comment properly i wasnt saying this was the ultimate warrior i was saying i cant believe anyone actually thought this guy was the ultimate warrior!!! read peoples comments properly in future u idiot

  • I think we know who the real "noob" is ay brohiem ;^)

  • It's too bad what happen to this man, he was pushed into a spot he was totally not ready for, and it's not like he can say no, who would say no to getting that spot. Then he was pushed aside due to him not being the Warrior. This is one of thoes things I think Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff should be totally ashame of themselves for, if you ask me.

  • well said

  • i wonder in what burger king that guy is working nowadays?

  • He died actually

  • He commited suicide asshole

  • you people are cruel rat bastards for posting those horrible comments about a man who was trying to better his life. All of the ones who mocked this man should burn in hell!!!!!!!!!

  • what was going through the mind of Brian the Brain Heenan.......

  • thats BOBBY the brain heenan..thank you

  • Considering he was a Warrior rip-off, I'm amazed they put him over Arn Anderson for the TV Title...

  • I always thought that they instead of completely dropping his gimmick and depushing him when the Ultimate Warrior came to the WCW, they shoulda teamed them together. It still woulda been better than the OWN.

  • Yerr, when the Warrior first came into WCW Rick was the next best thing, gradually through 97, 98 and 99 he was dropped down from top, to midcard then to undercard when he was putting guys over and then he went down so low he did'nt even appear, but actually was a stunt double for the Ultimate Warrior until he was released in 1999 and then killed himself.

  • wat a life that poor guy had eh?

  • Comment removed

  • Read the conversation you lazy bastard, I'm not talking to you FATkev.

  • He killed himself in '98.

  • commited sucicide in 1999

  • I edited myself

  • No meant to say RELEASED in '98.

  • its sad he had to go out in a such way...i guess he thought he couldnt go to another wrestling promotion but hey wcw is dead right along with him...Rest in Peace Renegade aka Rick williams...its sad WCW couldnt even pay tribute to you

  • a good talent ,with a piss poor gimmick

  • @arkham335 Agreed

  • its messed up what happened to him, he would have been big had they used him better or he wasnt so down on himself. I think it would have been cool if they made him part of the One Warrior Nation when Warrior came to WCW, or maybe put them in a fued, but that's just me.

  • EHHHHH Renegade was nothing more then a glorified Warrior rip-off

  • very true!!

  • If I were old enough to have done a wrestling promotion at the time, I would have hired Rick.

  • Thanks for posting this. I love seeing the old WCW Saturday Night Champions. Damn shame about this up and coming wrestler. They expected too much too soon from this fella.

  • A truly underrated wrestler... RIP Renagade

  • The Renegade, RIP :(

  • did he die or something ?

  • he committed suicide

  • poor bastard. May he rest in peace
