First of all, Brazil has no Spanish roots, but Portuguese. We never had segregation eversince slavery was abolished around 150 years ago. All public services and private stablishments have always been available to whites, asians and blacks alike. Brazil is a whole place apart from the caribeean, and the rest of South America, as we have been built mostly by Portuguese, Italian, German, Spanish Central and Eastern European, Japanese immigrants, and African Slaves.

mmmmm, to be honest our angry friend has a point, either though this is widely known, but not mentioned in this discussion, it's my understanding that capoeira was brought to brasil by african slaves, and used the martial art to fight the portuguese. Today people seem to connect the martial art solely to brasil and neglect to recognize that it is an african martial art.
