  • I can remember the time when i used to listen to this music while looking at early photos from making Fellowship of the Ring and trying to learn a little bit of elvish, it was ages ago :D.

  • its not from lotr but it does sound quite lotr-ish despite the use of synths

    i like

  • I love this song! It's one of my favourites. But it's not from LOTR, it's from Shepherd Moons album... :B anyway, it's great.

  • this is in b flat minor.

  • @bombergal1 I don't like that one.

  • I hope they use this for the hobbit film :)

  • @Complexity00X they will not unfortunately....

  • one of the best melodies i've ever heard.every time brings tears to my eyes...

  • What a dream song :O Wooow, omg, i like it so much, wooooooooooooow

  • The people who keep listing this song as part of The Lord of the Rings films must of not actually watched the movies or listened to the soundtracks.

  • @SolarisDeLuna I think it's the title, Lothlorien. That name was used in tFotR

  • I have this on my ipod!

  • this would make a wonderful song to walk down the aisle to ^_^

  • so cool

  • Tveir góðir vinir að njóta annars konar spennandi ævintýri saman:

DIVING IN BISHOP HARBOR (Köfun í Bishop Harbor)

  • this didnt play in the movie or was on the soundtrack lol

  • this song made me watch the movie again and again

  • This song is called 'Lothlorién', but it originates from the Enya album 'Shepherd Moons' from 1991 (!).

  • @olcapolca She named it that because she was a fan of the books. This song predates the films.

  • Yeah definitely not on the soundtrack. Do your research.

  • does anyone know what scale I should use for guitar to play this song?

  • @Luukjuh13

    G# Major

  • @jayceeutrecht awesome thanks!

  • These are the same chords and notes as F minor. Considering the feel of the track, it would be better to call it F-minor.

  • this song is enya's song but not from the lotr soundtrack ...

  • How I love that movie!!

  • When was this song played and from which movie?

  • @knongknongs It's written under the song.

  • Comment removed

  • @knongknongs It's not from the movies. Enya made this song long before the movies were made. But I love both Enya and the movies, so it's a good combination :)

  • I love this indeed, thank you for putting this here!!! :)

  • Loreena McKennitt would have done it better, baby.

  • This is a beautiful song!!

Too bad 86 people would rather listen to rebecca black.

  • jrr tolkien was a special and very important person...he opened my and everyones eyes and heart to fantasy of a surreal rich and detailled and inspiring escape, which propelled my father to backpack across canada and i mean the rockies ,the ocean shores ...my fathers passed on now but i still cherish the lotr cuz i can immerse myself in the same world as he loved ..and he loved enya soo much..i grew up on her heavenly music..too bad he didnt live to see the movie lotr and enyastracks.suicide b4..

  • some of you utube uploaders have been smoking "too much of the half-lings' leaf" or something! this is NOT from lotr!!! jediking12 is one of the FEW youtubers to upload the ACTUAL SONG FROM THE MOVIE/SOUNDTRACK - something i own. this song is a REGULAR ENYA SONG FROM ANOTHER REGULAR ENYA ALBUM. PLEASE RE-POST... THX. A DORKY HOBBIT AKA JACKIE ECO

  • this reminds me of Final Fantasy, not sure which one though

  • final fantasy 7 when aeris is with cloud before diying

  • I've heard this piano before in a much more modern song, but cant remember which song! Someone help :D :D

  • this song has no connection with the film, but...

i cry all the time i listen to this, it reminds me some distant echoes from the past, like I walked in the woods of Lothlorien in a past life.

  • @SergeyDruid90 yep, same here

  • @SergeyDruid90

    me too!

  • I really wish this song was longer. I could listen to it for an eternity. It's pure magic and art on a piano.

  • o O o O F l o w e r P o w e r O o O o

  • This really evokes a place of fading and forgotten beauty. Not sure which one I like more, but I LOVE this piece!!

  • this sorta creeps me out

  • dondem puedo descargar esta musica aunque sea en mp3. gracias.

  • Yes, Lothlórien forest belongs to The Lord of the Rings, but this song is NOT from the movie soundtrack... much to my regret xD

  • you know what i love about this song? it lets you slip away to another world. you dont have to be around a bunch of crap that youre normally around. you are free to be who you want to be, what you want to be, and when you want to be it!

  • Lothlórien inspired Enya to create this piece. The song, however, is a bit older than the Lord of the Rings films and is not in their soundtrack: it was released in 1994, in the Shepherd Moons album.

  • @paranoidzuul 1991, indeed. This song is amazing.

  • snivé...

  • this particular song IS NOT from the Lord of the Rings Soundtrack! but, it's awesome, anyway!

  • beautiful song!

  • Which version of LOTR was this song in? Not the epic one certainly.

  • @key2kingdom

Lothlorien is originally from Enya's "Shepherd Moons" album (1991). It was inspired by Tolkein's work long before Peter Jackson's films.

  • beautiful music to read by ^^

  • This is beautiful. End of story.

  • FFS stop arguing. U guys think youre grown up? Well think again coz your not. What is it with ppl these days... why is everyone arguing? Just shut up and listen to this beautiful song instead of having a pointless conversation...

  • When in the movie is this song played?

  • Comment removed

  • was this in trine????

  • @555mylife888 why do you keep up with "Do you own youtube?" quote. it has nothing to with the conversation going on between you too, and now its just lame seeing how you've used it 3 times now, including telling your opponent that "He is not God". You, my friend, need to think before you say, (Or in this case, Type.)

  • Enya composed this Lothlorien for her album Shepherd Moons, many years before the movies and Howard Shore's music . Of course she had already read The Lord of the Rings, as many others before her, and that chapter of the book inspired her. I like both Lothloriens, Enya's and Howard Shore's.

  • i'm sorry i didnt mean that. I'm the most plural about music as one can be. I'm sorry if i was misunderstood. What i meant was that many new artists are just money making machines and dont really care about "beauty" but rather style and/or showoff.

I also mentioned that music does not need to be "beautiful" to be music.

  • 85 pigs

  • This song is like a good bonk in my ear holes..

  • This always makes me weep...the most beautiful song I've ever heard =)

  • this song is beautifuuul

  • KB10GL - I totally agree with your thoughts on music - so much of what teenagers listen to is grap thanks to Hollywood -control freaks...and just money is all and dumbing down of generation of free thinkers before they have a chance to even get started... latest is that stupid ugly GAGA bitch - she is Hollywood's living nightmare from hell... and she is a disgrace to entertainment and music... handdown....

  • @555mylife888 Can you not say 'teenagers' please. I don't care what you're trying to say, you're implying that teenagers are the only people that listen to 'crap'. You're insinuating that your opinion is the only right one because you're insulting millions of people by saying that what they enjoy is 'crap' and that it's impossible they might appreciate it on some level you can't see because 'they're no longer free-thinkers'. And you're grouping all teenagers together, which is wrong.

  • @555mylife888 You need to let people enjoy life how they want to enjoy it. You enjoy it how you like and expect not be to be criticised for it, so let others.

  • @Omanomanom -lets see - Do you own You tube? no I didn't think so. until you do this is a comment section.

You should stop reading the comments of others if they upset you-maybe you have a mental problem - get help otherwise shut up and just enjoy the videos that people put on here which is the main function of this website. Again you are not god nor do you own You tube.. this is a social website and every one is allowed to make comments as they see fit.... stop reading - start listening

  • @555mylife888 But you're not commenting on the video are you? I really don't see your point about having a mental problem... I read a comment.. I comment on it... HOLY SHIT I'VE GOT A MENTAL PROBLEM. Ugh, really don't care.

  • @555mylife888 I read the comments while I wait for the song to load...

  • @555mylife888

This is all I've read of your little comment fight.

    You sir, are a hypocrite.

  • @SocialInertiaMusic - like I said -this is a social website, comments are welcomed whether you like them or not, shut and listen, you sir, do not own this web site, nor are you god almighty-you need a much needed vacation....hyprocrite, hmmm and you are one over reacting idiot-no one forced you to read the comments, but it is obvious you are of a herd mentally - you must of a had a bad childhood - so much pain in that statement of yours-what little there was of it, a class in arger management

  • @555mylife888 You're a classic example of a troll, trying to come across as better and more intelligent than everyone else. Why don't you just stop trying to get into arguments on Youtube, (that you need to win, to feed your stupid ego) and just shut the fuck up?

  • @gaymanrights - lets see - You Tube = social network, comments are welcomed and allowed - atleast your are older then a child, barely. You do not own this web site.. so take your own advice and shut the F- - - up. If you don't like what you see - don't read it - over reacting multiple times is a mental problem.. arguments - you just got into an argument with me-that makes you - 2 faced, take your own advice preacher... no one is making you read whats on here-this web site=music videos-get it

  • @555mylife888 I think you trying to justifiy your un-needed comment has gotten out of hand here, most of your replies don't make sense and who cares if it is a kind of social networking site? you're obviously commenting to get attention and hope that people agree with your opinion, and since no one does you're trying to defend your opinion, yet if it really was what you believed you wouldn't have to bite back so much, just accept that people don't always agree and move on.

  • @gaymanrights & @555mylife88 , you both win. =)

  • @555mylife888 No seriously...STOP TALKING!!! 1. you're ruining your reputation as well as others who are defending their rights. 2. you're offending people who have no need for the sh*t thats coming out of your mouth (or keyboard). 3. you need to let people decide what they want to decide because you have no right to interfere and you probably dont even know any of them!!!!!!!! 4. you dont own youtube either. you're just as unimportant as any of us other mental retards (according to you anyway).

  • @555mylife888, you realize that you don't own YouTube either, right? If you are allowed to comment, so is EVERYONE else. You don't need to pick fights by insulting artists like lady GaGa, who by the way has nothing to do with this particular video. You don't need to blame Hollywood, because they aren't the ones controlling the supply of music. You don't need to insult teeangers by telling us music is dumbing us down because if anything it's are screwed up educational system doing so.

  • @555mylife888, you do, however, need to learn how to edit your comments before you post them so that you don't sound like a complete imbecile to the rest of the world. Sincerely, A Teenager.

  • Enya's music is just beautiful which is a whole LOT better than listening to guys screaming into a microphone DEATH!!!!!! and playing really dark marterials. This is calm, cool collected and doesn't blow your eardrums.

  • 84 dislikes??????How could somebody dislike such a beautiful music???

  • @sbtbsm I know right! At least there's over 2000 likes! that outshines all those lame dislikes :)

  • Music is emotion, and as with emotion, there are many variations. Music is composed according to which emotion you are attempting to convey. This is very beautiful. I love Enya and have this CD in my collection. To me the yelling into the mic represent intensity and frustration and anger, which I'm not proud to say that I do have from time to time. Yet, these are the beautiful things that make us human.

  • @100benjamin That's not true at all... There are heavy metal songs that were written for love. That goes entirely against your logic, as you would have us believe that all music with people screaming into the microphone was written out of hatred or anger. If you listened to the lyrics, you'd see how wrong that is in many cases.

  • Pure Beauty

  • Wait is it just me or was this music in Trine???

  • telac says, Indeed =) and verry good song!

  • lovely! indeed! :)

  • This one is my favorite single of all Enya's music.... It was like love at first sight (or hearing).

  • this sounds a lot like "shatted" by x-ray dog still it's very beautiful

  • The word "Lothlorien" sort of sounds like a really slurred "Lord of the Rings". To me, anyway lol.

  • @xXRubella666Xx

Maybe "Lothlorien" is the way to say "Lord of the Rings" when you are drunk and/or talking really fast

  • @Rayannami I think you just figured out how Tolkien came up with the name. XP

  • @xXRubella666Xx btw Lothlorien is an elf city, fellowship visited it after the escape of Moria

  • @MODERNGAMES2 I know. :P

  • This track was included in her "Shepherds Moon" album, released in November 1991.

  • Maybe he got confused because Enya contributed another track to the LOTR soundtrack? :o

  • Ive commented before and will again, you guys just dont get it, this is NOT from the LOTR movies OR soundtrack, the name is a pure coincidence, this is from the Enya album shepherd moons, ive said it before, but the owner of this youtube song obviously dinnt get the message and still thinks its from LOTR.

  • this song makes me cry tears of happines and realise that everythings going to be allright someday. and falling asleep while listening 2 it makes me dream of heaven

  • 1689692 love this sound...well me too...oh what? 84 dislikes? ...ah 84 parkinson diseases

  • I've heard most and or all of enya's songs and I have to say, they're a series of master peices. I'm a big fan of lord of the rings s o when finding out that her music was in the movie, I was very pleased. (actually, all the songs in the movie are great, not just enya's)

  • @phealy02- owned.

@KB10GL- thumbs up. sooo fricken much

  • This song is absolutely soothing and beautiful. I could listen to this for eternity. It also reminds me of Final Fantasy X.

  • @ryaku5 Yay Final Fantasy!!!

  • 84 bieber fans didn't like this song.... :P It's amazing! ;)

  • @RafaBeniteth13 It's because beiber fans haven't the 1st clue of what good taste in music is about. Maybe when they reach adulthood...

  • amaziiiiingggggggg

  • If any of you liked this song you should check out gollums' song.

  • @kryptic127 and the house of healing / arwen's song.

  • I LOVE IT :X:X:X it makes me...i dunno cry yet a happy cry :x

  • Love those background noises.

  • Anyone know where I could find piano sheet music for this?

  • love love love lotr!!!!! vest movie ever!!!!

  • rapsusklei - corazones lagrimas y sonrisas .. escuchen el usa el mismo sample en la cancion de él, saludos!

  • I heard this song before I watched LOTR. I loved it before LOTR, I love it after, it's amazing.

  • This still fits the movie =) I am so excited for The Hobbit. I literally cannot wait. I hope they pick Enya for another song again. And Elisabeth Fraser from the Cocteau Twins who sang the other Lothlorien from the movie.

  • @Gilgamesj91 Honestly, how the hell does someones sexual preferences relate to this music? How does it matter?

  • What's all this virgin chatter? Nice music.

  • This song gives me shivers. It reminds me of memories that can only make me smile .

  • enya nieces are turing 19 this coming new year and know that I AM A VIRGIN

  • is totally like Final Fantasy music :O

    i love it T.T Enya rock :D

  • Sounds like a song that should reside in a Final Fantasy game, there are similarities to it that make me think of the opening song for FFX.

  • This is so beautiful! And to think it was inspired before the movies! lovely! I personally strongly disliked what they did with Lothlorien and Galadriel in the movies, but this really harkens the book! Enya you are amazing...

  • I AM A VIRGIN

  • @SELFproclaimedVIRGIN well that sucks 4 u :-p

  • @Gilgamesj91 enya niece loves me kaya and aisling because I AM A VIRGIN

  • @SELFproclaimedVIRGIN Well if ur account picture is ur face, then its no wonder why u r a virgin XD

  • @Gilgamesj91 aisling and kaya are enya nieces and well they like that i love her aunt eithne who is a virgin like me

  • miłosć poza czasem i przestrzenią........

  • The books of the Lord of the Rings are the only books I've read more than twice. The fact that this beautiful track existed before the movies became a major part of our culture gives it that much more meaning to me. Thanks for being amazing, Enya =P.

  • Enya wrote this song before the Lord of the Rings movies were even in conception. The song is inspired by Tolkien's novels . This song was not used in the movies but Enya did help compose and perform other tracks for the movies. I love this song, and the soundtrack. Personally, i believe Enya kicks major ass.

  • I'm dedicating this lovely piece to my cousin who I recently lost to a murder from a jealous ex-boyfriend.

Rest in Peace sweet Princess. May the angels of God lift you up to your eternal home. Forever and ever. Good night!

  • @MADDOG6400

    What a tragedy.

    God bless your cousin.

  • This is so perfect...

  • just like lorien, beautiful and haunting, it's well named indeed

  • There was a life before the movies... when i read comments here, i doubt about it. Thanks to all artists like Enya who didn't wait for P.J. to dream and create masterpieces like this song.

  • Lothlorien is dated 1991

  • De schoonhied van dit nummer is zo prachtig.

Elke keer als ik dit luister en ik doe mijn ogen dicht, dan zie ik iets mooi's wat vrijwel niet te beschrijven valt.

    a Dutchman,

  • @StealthywayNL

ik weet wat je bedoelt, het is onbeschrijfelijk mooi.

    gr, een Medelander

  • This track proves once & for all that true beauty in music does not involve screaming into a mike, lyrics filled with obscenities or music so loud that it's distorted & indistinguishable from the sound of a car wreck/crash.

Simple notes from a single instrument with a soft & melodic background is all it takes & this is as fine an example as you will find.

    Simply beautiful

  • @KB10GL

    moron!

  • @phealy02

Oh dear, I'm deeply wounded with your savage & stinging attack.

Now that's a deep & meaningful reply if ever i saw one, filled with logic, reasoning & a great explanation of why such a comment was ever necessary.

At least you can spell, now lets see if you can articulate beyond one word without resorting to abuse & profanity.

    I bet you can't.

  • @phealy02

Lol, he's just showing off his "big words" he looked up on Microsoft thesaurus.

  • @KB10GL There are many definitions of beauty. You are just as hypocritical as those who claim that this isn't beautiful. Take the plank out of your own eye before examining the mote in your brother's.

  • @ragnarthesemigreen Mote???

  • @KB10GL Yes, mote.

  • @ragnarthesemigreen Ah, from the biblical text. "Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." -Matthew 7:5." You quoted it wrongly & it's meaningless in this context anyway.

Load of old coblers methinks but please re-read my original comment. Read it s-l-o-w-l-y & absorb what was actually said before geting into your pulpit & quoting scripture to me.

    It's a wonderfull piece, period.

  • @KB10GL Ok, here I am, once again rereading that driveling excuse of a comment. I still see nothing in its contents that deserves merit or laud. Now, before I continue, I wish to point out that "wrongly" isn't a word. Furthermore, the quote means that hypocrisy is not only pointless but vulgar in its own way, a meaning you appear to have missed. Old coblers? Haven't heard THAT one before; points for creativity. However, if its all the same to you, I think I am going back on the pulpit.

  • Comment removed

  • @KB10GL you can't compare different genres.. i love this music (and play the piano), but i love Metal a lot, too. Just don't compare it if you don't know it enough :) they are completely different, but In both of them u can find feelings that touch your soul

P.S: sorry for my bad english :/

  • @darkshadowITA I appreciate your comment as it shows reasoning & logic along with your opinion, so it gets my respect, even if not my 100% agreement. I thank you for it, ..... & your English is fine.

As for @phealey02, all he has to offer is idiotic vilification, but he clearly has not the ability to provide a logic based argument & he can therefore be pigeon holed as an idiot & ignored.

  • @KB10GL Those that scream aren't trying to create beauty. People use music to convey different emotions. This is only one of them. Screaming is for another.

  • @KB10GL

What is the purpose of your comment? Melodic death metal or symphonic metal, for example, have soft parts and even soft songs also.. the lyrics in many metal genres talk about problems of the world and use poetic words or style. How loud you listen to them is your own choice. I love lord of the rings soundtracks, but I also love metal and respect both for what they are as they got a different purpose and a different style. If I were You, I would be glad to have so much varied music.

  • @madlei

i am a huge Lamb of God fan , i love Metal down to the ground but i also love to just relax and listen to things such of this which relax me and give me a bigger spective on life ( not in a depressing way ). it just carm's me in a way that Metal could not unless it was a soft emotional track that really speaks from that heart.

  • @mattycoops1 wow your spelling is abysmal

  • @KB10GL

I dont really think that the people who scream, obscene or distort music care about beauty anyway...thats just not their goal. I guess that the problem is that most artists nowadays dont really try to make music... they try to make money through style and act.

In my opinion, music does not need to be beautiful as many pieces of art arent.

Nevertheless, i do agree that you dont need much to make beautiful songs - I just dont think that every song has got to be beautiful to be music.

  • @vila4480 They don't care about beauty? Whatever happened to creative freedom? You assume that people who shout into the mic do so out of anger and to look cool? I say they do it because it's what they want to do. That music is beautiful in many different ways to many different people and so contradicts your beliefs entirely. Don't try? It is many people's belief that heavy metal and similar forms are the most beautiful music of all. Contrary to popular beliefs, it's not just thrown together...

  • @KB10GL Yes, but there's nothing wrong with heavy metal for those who like it. There's some truth in what you say, but there's also prejudice.

  • @KB10GL Simply beautiful

    Ken

  • @KB10GL Hey, some "screaming into a mic" can be good, and prove quite emotional. Don't be so quick to judge musical styles.

  • She did this song over a decade before the first LOTR movie came out. Give her proper credit. She was obviously a Tolkien fan before the movies.

  • Ahhh, this is the most beautiful piece of music ever!<3<3<3

  • This is what makes life living for

  • its just a melody. its beutiful. but wud get alot more popular if she were to sing in it. hope im not overreacting but she is a true angel.
