hey, I am thinking about getting an auction horse, and I know about horses fairly well (been around them4 9 years). I am just gunna get ordinary horse (not a loco or skinny one). When I get it I will have a vet check it. I know the obdovice signs of an ill horse but could this get really expensive if I get a seeminly healthy horse?
@herewefly Really look the horse over. Sometimes these horses are drugged to not show the pain they are in or to make a wild one calm down. Not saying you cant find a sound horse there just saying look closely. Good luck. I'm sure the horse needs you..
ya, I have seen some druged horses befor at an auction, but Its pretty apparant to me, the dry gums ect. Thanks and keep doing what u do, the horses really appreacite u guys.
I would defiantly say check the hooves for cracks and feel the legs for any sign of heat, which is the big sign of lameness/ swelling. Also the general face and how lively the horse is such as perked ears, nostrils, and such.
oh ok thanks, Ya I have been to a few auctions, but wasent ready to buy a horse yet, adn It will haunt me forever. I saw 2 BEAUTIFUL sound, sweet horses, and I mean they were like a little girls dream horse, very light hony chesnut with a white blaze, very sweet, I mean they let you do anything.... I really wish I was more prepaired to buy then because i would have gotten them. They were young, healthy 3-4 years olds. I am VERY excited and I feel that I am ready to get an auctiong horse. Thanks

animals are made by God for us to use> i always treated my horses with the utmost care but when horses get old they need to put down and used for some thing else !
...you don't put an animal down just because they're old. you put them down if they have a painful, uncurable injury or fatal disease that causes them pain a suffering. not because they're old. nature decides when an old horse goes - not people.
u guys are true heros!!! i am balling my eyes out right now. those horses are all so beautiful why wuld they be put in auction??? sum ppl just want and easy dollar dont they?
wow, that's great what u guys do. keep it up. we need more people like u in the world. 2 yrs ago we save a grey arabian gelding from going to slaughter, he was about 100 - 200 lbs UNDER weight and now he's a gorgouse healthy animal w/ another chance at life. Thank u and keep on doin what your doin!!*
i lkie watching videos when horses are rescued from auctions. It is what i want to do when i am older!
We bought my horse from the horse auctions from horse dealers, when he was a 4yr old! My horse is about 10 now and he is currently learning lots of new things with me at college. He is a dream horse!!!
@norcalequinerescue i know i'm totally jumping in the conversation here, but that's one of the worst cases of stringhalt i've ever seen! i rode a QH who had stringhalt but we used magnetic hock boots and he walked almost all of it off so it was barely noticable- he was 100% sound and cleared by the vet. any luck with this poor horse?
i have to say, i am amazed at how friendly those horses are, at the feedlot I rescue from, those horses are poked with electric prods so much that they try to jump the fence to get away from you until we bring them home and they realize we're not going to chase them into different pens, and also they have sometimes 50 horses in a single pen waiting to be auctioned. does the last horse shown have stringhalt?
my rescue horse jack was from a auction he was being ridden in a western saddle that didnt fit with a bridle made for a pony he is a cob and as a bit he had a long bolt we got him for £600 the meatman was who was bidding against us i am gonna rescue more
OH KEWL! Im apart of a rescue team as well. Were known as IFAW international animal rescue team. Dont ask me what IFAW means. I never thought too ask. Go ahead and check out our website. to see our website go to my channel to get the website.
that brings tears to my eyes you are my inspiration you are what these beautiful horses needs to stay alive and free good for you some day that will be me amazing :)
there was once a small child who grew out of her pony, her parents convinced her to take it to auction so that the pony could be loved by someone that could ride it. When they arrived at the auction they sold the pony, as the pony was being loaded into a trailer the child heard the words that broke her heart "theres Jay the meat man" she had un knowingly sold her beloved pony to slaughter, she screamed for her pony but it was to late Good work! ur stoppin things like this from hapenin!
your story broke my heart,it brought tears to my eyes i could only imagine how it would feel to have to give your pony up and even worse to know where he is going
Thanks but the stiry m telling isnt mine, my riding instructor told me the story and i thought id get the word out about the horrors of what can happen it broke my heart as well the poor little girl :(
Thankyou from all the horses ponies and donkeys from around the world.
i know that when you close your eyes you can still feel his mounth in your hands, his stride between your legs and smell his sweet smell. One day his reins will slip through your hands, then his stride will pull from underneith you and last his smell will be gone. But his hoof prints will always be on your heart
Horse slaughter sounds terrible but if you look on YouTube under kosher slaughter houses, you will see that animal torture occurs every day by the thousands. The kosher killers use religion to get away with what Michael Vick would lose his career and freedom for.
thats great as long as thers some people doing that then it shows the people that are bitching about slaghter and stuff that they could do sompthin like that
Poor horses, especially Zoro. I plan on establishing my own horse rescue when I'm old enough. There is never enough rescues. The more there is, the more horses that can be rescued.
Thank you for what you do, we have been to the sale as well and so far have bought 3 horses. We try to buy them before they get there as it is so heartbreaking not to be able to buy them all. Great video. I personally hate the horse auctions, I find them extremely inhumane. I hope all 3 horses are doing well.
Good on you for helping those horses. Here in Australia we have to many horses going to slaughter.I have 11 in my yard who had no future so I know the rewards for helping these lost souls.
Would the riding horses be sold to meat too?

It's amazing what you can find at auctions...
my friend got a stunning, registered morgan stallion for $30, gentled him in a pen behind the house, and sold him the next day for $3,000.
Great job!
