Remember, everyone here kvetching about this being the "real Spore" is forgetting that what this is is a TECH DEMO. It looks like it's working wonderfully because the developers are making it work wonderfully. Also, as Will Wright said: earlier versions of Spore were incredibly boring. If you're 1% faster than a predator, you would have had to run around an island for 2-3 hours IN GAME to escape it to evolve. The better game came out.
Spore could have been so freaking awesome! :( I was HUGELY disappointed when I got it. What the hell is up with that cartoon look?? It sucks! The first 2 or 3 stages(one celled and animal stage) were kinda cool but then it turned into a pile of shit. The moment they started a village it went to hell. Should have had way more individuals in the village, IMHO.

At least they have insane amounts of blood spilling out of every creature you kill in Darkspore... That makes up for the blood part nnot being in spore but, dude... In they creature deaths, they had ragdoll physics. It's pretty hard to program a ragdoll physics engine in a game for every single creature that could ever be made... Plus they had really much more intense interactions between nest members in the Creature Stage. It's kinda sad, but EA is pretty much made of people who criticize. Boo!

@HIGHLANDERxMCLAMBIE its not banned EA changed it into the 5 year old version we know today they didn't create a whole new engine for the spore we have now, they just changed this one
If only EA had kept the parts in that you show here. Even the blood. (Blood has never bothered me at all in fact when I have to have blood taken I like to watch the doctors do it.) But man, when I first got the game (Galactic Edition) I was expecting so much more out of it. Yeah it's fun but it could have been tons more fun than it is.

See, it's demo videos like this that generated so much hype for this game. Practically a marketing tactic i think. They show a demo vid a few years before it's actually released, then they suddenly change it and hope that people will still by it, no matter how bitter the reaction's gonna be.

I like the Spore 06 game play and graphics more than the 05. The 05 is ok, but the graphics are kinda bad and there's not that much detail onto the planet and game. The 06 is better, it mixes reality with cartoon but there's more reality in it than the Spore out today. The sounds the creatures make are much more alien like instead of using present day animals like pigs, seals, frogs, monkeys, and donkeys. Even the creature editor looks better in 06 than the one out today. But Im still a huge fan
look how the creature walks it is much better than the newer spore. and the grapics is much better and the blood everything i wish they could make a spore 2 that is like this.
I see no difference, as I've played both and wasn't a overlook fan who would be bias to what is better.
Some of the Stages were just excessive to keep players busy, and the only changes are the UI to be neater as the graphics, sounds, and animations are hardly effected.
This '06 version was replaced, and the new one is removed of garbage and is less bugged.
It's called "old" because it's just only that, extinct outdated less sophisticated version of the game, disliked by neanderthals fans.
@HeartStrong4ever No this isn't designed for little kids, litle kids would hate these types of games for same reasons as they don't like the Sims. Spore is still more for the older of not mature audience, where they begin to find "2nd life" styled games interesting. @SimGirl99 100 only? I made a petition that got nearly 5,000! Trust me, Will Wright and Maxis don't care, or if they did, They can't do SH*T about it. You know why? Because EA wants them to target young audiences so they can pump out cheap and easy to make games and still roll in large amounts of money. This is why I have turned my back on corporation gaming and gone to Indie game, and never looked back. Except for a few spore 05 vids

Who had the idea of turning a masterpiece (it would have been one) into a game for little kids? You are bored after 5 hours of playing it, MAXIMUM. There is no realism. For me, they destroyed it :(

One thing i dont like: Graphics are kinda rough but it is an early test version. They should make a different copy of spore like this with better graphics.

it woulda been better if they kept the bit where you munch on the body instead of taking out a peice of meat outta nowhere, they kept where you actually had to grow up from baby to adult, the watery stage where your not yet on land for extra realisem

i prefer this version better it looks like it'd catpure me for ours the one that got released looks like it is for 5 year olds 3 lvls of fail right here: no realisem, absiloutly no creativity, it doesn't feel like your playing as your creature it feels like your playing with a rag doll
