Im 18 years old (I'll be 19 in spring). Im a freshman college student and live in San Francisco, CA. So, what's the first things I need to do in order to help me be a Volunteer Firefighter? Do i just go to my local firehouse/dept. and ask for an application? When do they usually accept applications?
@SmokeEatersSF Hello, you should go to your local fire department (or the one you are interested in going to) and tell them you would like to become a volunteer and ask them what requirments you need to do it. Your age is fine and they accept them at all times. Glad you want to do this. It's alot of fun.

We don't see that normally, but this movie truly showed me the risks and fear that comes along with having your love working in a life-risking profession. My neighbor of 7 year is a fireman and he is an absolute asshole to the neighbor hood kids, but I tell them " Don't forget he's a fireman and they lay their life on the line, in order to keep us safe"
I was a policeman for 13 years and then switched to being a fireman for the last 16 years. Both jobs have been incredibly rewarding. I have seen too many of my friends die on the job. There is no greater love than a man /woman who lays down their life for another. Everybody loves the fire department lol! very emotional song. you never know your closest sisters and brothers of the firefighters til they are gone, til this day i struggle without having them there.
My grandfather recently passed away. He was a firefighter along with his dad, his grandfather, my dad and hopefully me. He was an amazing person and i can only imagine how many people he has already helped during his first few days in heaven. All i can say is i see a little bit of him in my dad and myself and i want to be a firefighter in his honor. There were 1000+ at his funeral and every single person was there to say thank you. Thank you gramps, i love you, you were my light.

Them being a firefighter, police officer, lifeguard, or military personnel, doesnt matter, they are heroes, and for that sacrifice, I thank you. Thank you dad.

This movie has such a special part in my heart because this is not just some basic story like in many other movies, this is the life of the firefighters. We don't see that normally, but this movie truly showed me the risks and fear that comes along with having your love working in a life-risking profession. All my respects to the firefighters and those who have fallen. You are important to the community. If you wouldn't, I don't think anybody else would <3

My dad died back in february but a driver in a box truck but just before my dad got hit he pushed his boss out of the way. My dad was a firefighter for a lot of departments in Kentucky. A lot of people knew my dad and my dad loved his job being a firefighter. Its hard not seeing him when your 15 i think bout him every single day and i miss him so much and i love him to. Me and my brother are getting threw but i dedicate this song to my dad. I love you pops <3

It's people like your Dad that deserve the title of "Hero"...I am so sorry for your loss. i was an volenteer firefighter for about 6 years. this job was for me more than a job. i saw things what i´ll never forget, funny things but also terrible remembers. i come from germany. My neighbor of 7 year is a fireman and he is an absolute asshole to the neighbor hood kids, but I tell them " Don't forget he's a fireman and they lay their life on the line, in order to keep us safe"

I was a policeman for 13 years and then switched to being a fireman for the last 16 years. Both jobs have been incredibly rewarding. I have seen too many of my friends die on the job. There is no greater love than a man /woman who lays down their life for another. Everybody loves the fire department lol! But lets not forget our Guardians in Blue (police officers) and of course our soldiers. Prayers for these mean so much more than you'll ever know. Say a prayer for our country as well. God Bless

My grandfather recently passed away. He was a firefighter along with his dad, his grandfather, my dad and hopefully me. He was an amazing person and i can only imagine how many people he has already helped during his first few days in heaven. All i can say is i see a little bit of him in my dad and myself and i want to be a firefighter in his honor. There were 1000+ at his funeral and every single person was there to say thank you. Thank you gramps, i love you, you were my light.
