I can hear better this version...thank you! WOW, whoever could forget this wonderful "Rock'n' Roll"???? No one on earth, nobody in the whole planet!!!
love how Lou just tears the face off the guitar part and swings it around like a whirly gig.like its nothing at all.still my hero.I owe alot to my uncle for turning me onto truly excellent music when i was a kid............Thanks uncle Dan,love ya man.
Mister Lou Reed Kickin it - i Smoked Some of the Biggest Reefers of My Life Listening to This Music - Gawd those were the days * goin to smoke one right now - well - after the song and then come back and listen to it all over again and i sure i won't believe what i heard at all. Yahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
You Tube won't let me subscribe! quote: 'You have too many subscriptions compared to the number of your subscribers.' Well, what they missed is that music is my life, and I keep up with my 3,000+ subscriptions. In the meantime, I can't subscribe unless 'I delete some subscriptions'. Fat chance!
The first time I heard this song it was a revelation. 36+ years later, it still sounds great and still makes me move. This song just screams NYC. I no longer live there but this song gives me the feelings. Lou Reed is a national treasure.
The musicians were Pentti Glan (drums) and Prakash John (bass) of the contemporary Alice Cooper band, Ray Colcord (keyboards), and Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter on guitars. The album was recorded live on December 21, 1973 (1973-12-21), at Howard Stein's Academy of Music in New York.
This is probably one of my all time most favorite songs .Man when it kicks in it kicks in. This stuff will clear up your cravings for real Rock and Roll.
@Mynster95 Too feminine for ya ?;-] Get over it.that's the way he fucking was during this 'Sweet Jane' phase.
Personaly I might find this photograph a bit off hand, those giant pilot shades were passé even before '74. and became even less cool when you see assholes like 'Slush" sporting them on each and every fucking occasion.
@brianflyinsolo60 The LPs "Rock n Roll Animal" and "Lou Reed Live" were culled from the same live concert recordings but released as separate single albums. SSoo

the photo is all wrong. the rock n roll animal live version of "rock and roll" was originally on the Lou Reed" Rock n Roll Animal." The cover photo looks like he was a glam rocker, with makeup and the David Bowie look like from the 70's. This version may be from "Lou Reed Live," but I dunno...I'll still take the version on the Rock n Roll live album...

I don't know why they didn't release the "Lou Reed Live" and "Rock and Roll Animal" in one package. It was the same perfomance.
