  • Do not listen to this guy. I have used this trick but it is a temporary fix to back up your data. do not use a t-shirt just leave it out in the open, heating through the back vents only. If you notice the vents melting STOP, I heated mine for approx 15 min and it did not melt at all. Let sit for 5 to 10 min then cool with either the cold setting on your dryer or a fan for at least 20 min. Back up all data as soon as you get it running. Any questions email me at shobartss@gmail.com

  • thats not a fix its a bodgejob......DONT TRY THIS! YLOD IS CAUSED BECAUSE THE THERMAL COMPOUND ON YOUR GPU AND CPU HAS MELTED OFF, IF YOU DONT REPLACE THE COMPOUND YOU WILL NEVER FIX IT PROPERLY.. IT WILL ALWAYS OVERHEAT, AND EVERY TIME IT DOES OVERHEAT THE MOTHERBOARD GETS FRIED . THIS HAIRDRYER IDEA WILL KILL YOU PS3 AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS! THERE ARE PLENTY OF PEOPLE LIKE ME WHO WILL FIX IT FOR YOU FOR £50- CHEAPER THAN HAVING TO BUY A NEW ONE BECAUSE YOU LET IT OVERHEAT TOO MANY TIMES!

  • @SuperPapi83 What do you think Sony does to it?

  • @ash2092013 unfortunatley they use cheap crappy chips and a weak thermal compound. they knew this would happen.

  • i w ould take out my hard drive so it dosnt mess up

  • You still have it, right?

  • Gonna try this. All I need is about 3-5 hours to back up my data.

  • 35% of xboxs will get the rrod after 8 hrs of straight play....

5% of ps3 will EVER get a ylod

    :D

  • i did it by putting it in the box and moving the hair dryer back and forth for 17 minutes and mine works and cant tell i did it

  • what causes the ylod is playing it for 7000hr

  • dude u are a motherfucking bad ass thanks man

  • yh it works but i didnt last very long for me it lasted bout 2-3 hours wid me shud i jst keep doing this every time ???

  • @marcus20506070 i recommend selling it asap to someone on the other side of the states lol that dnt know yu

  • @marcus20506070 if your good with electronics or can at least follow directions get a decent heat gun sum artic silver 5 thermal compound take it down to the mother board and you can fix it that way keep searching youtube its a good 3 part vid, i did mines 4 days ago and been working great

  • Holy Duck Fuck It LIVES!!!

    Thx man You Da MAn

    And Stop playing COD

    Intravision games causes YLOD

  • @45s5s i play madden and i got it its just sony fucking us

  • or to get the disc out you can turm the switch off from the back and hold the eject button and turn the back on again

  • i fixed it but is it gonna stay fixed forever plz reply someone!

  • @MrIzzy452 No. YLOD doesn't have a permanent fix, not even from Sony.

  • @ash2092013 but with the airdryer trick is it gonna be fixed 4 a long time or its just gonna break in a lil while..?

  • @MrIzzy452 in a lil maybe 2 weeks but if you get it fixed sell it if possible and save up 4 a new one

  • @MrIzzy452 can i keep on doing the trick ?

  • @MrIzzy452 yep

  • @ibey881 kk thx man, its sad to see ur ps3 go lol thx again

  • @MrIzzy452 dude my ps3 is turnin off but sometimes i think its NEAR OF THE YLOD but i dun play tooo much

  • @Jayfiti yea my old 1 was like dat2 get a new 1

  • @MrIzzy452 nop it might last a day, hour, weeks, or if ur lucky, months

  • Thumbs up if this fix worked for you (I know it did for me!)

  • ive had my ps3 since the christmas it came out and theres NO YLOD Yay !!!!

  • how could afford a ps3 but have a garbage ass camara

  • It works but my Ps3 is deformed melted the shit out of it lol

  • Just got mine repaired a couple of weeks ago cost me $100 and has just shat itself again im gonna try this .....then im gonna get a slim

  • worst method EVER!

1st & only time I tried it, it melted the other casing.

Other methods with the hair dryer work ... but this one.

    NOT!

  • ps3 last longer then xbox360 i had a ps3 for about 3-4years till i got the yellow light i had 4xbox360 in the last 2years xbox360 sucks

  • this DOES work. However, there's no guarantee it'll stay working. I've done this three times now, and it should also be noted that it leaves your ps3 very disfigured, so i'd also take the top plate off.

However, it's a seamless way of getting a disc back =)

  • OMG that camera is pure shit!

  • didnt work for me. :(

  • @ash2092013 ok ty dude!

  • does this happen alot?cause i was gonna get a ps3 but i dont want to if it will keep breaking...

  • @stevothehibby well i havent herd a ylod happening to a new slim ps3 so your chances of getting ylod on a new ps3 are very low. i would buy a new one. dont get the fat ps3 tho.

  • @stevothehibby Hi i have had my PS3 since launch 2006 and have never had this happen to mine , but if does happen this will work for a while but better to get fixed by Sony

  • @stevothehibby the ylod dont happen to the slim thats y i have got 1

  • didn´t work for me

  • to get a disc out you have to

    1-turn ps3 off.

    2-hold down on eject button

3-turn on ps3 from back while holding eject

4-when the fans start going crazy keep tapping the eject button

    5-the disc should eject

this only works on the old 40 gig ps3 though.

  • it worked for me....dunno how long for though

  • I MELTED MY FUCKING PS3!!!!!!!

  • @silentmindriot hahaha! soz

  • @019208237 but it works styl

  • @silentmindriot indeed mate! i have fixed mine twice using a hair dryer. i only heated the back for just 5 mins then let it cool and its worked twice! . the only downer is my ps3 now overheats within 30 mins so i have had to get a ps3 slim.

  • @019208237 Mine used to go every 20 mins and the fan would blow like CRAZY! but now its ok, it just smells kinda wierd, but it works properly now although when im playing games the fan blows harder, but now i like mastered how to fix it so its easy anyways. you can always buy a intec cooling fan for the back

  • @silentmindriot

same here man + it didnt work... xD

  • GOT damn, learn how to record caint se shit youre all over the place + quality stinks

  • my dont work wen i do it with the blow dryer

  • @MrKiller547 well i dont know what else you can try. if i knew another one i woould have made a vid on it.

  • @MrKiller547 u have to do with a heat gun. it has to be 500 degreese atleast

  • if you do this how long does it work for?

will it last in the box long enough to take it to gamestation and trade it in ? lol

  • @walnutpearl yeah, they will be able to test it out. put it back in the box and go for sale. unless they got your social dont do it! lol

  • someones going to burn down the house.

  • @lot335 well for me. the giar dryer i use if it get to a point to where it is to hot or it thinks it may cause a a spark or something it turns off. so i dont have to worry about it.

  • @ash2092013 you can get the cd out before you heat it up

  • @KrayFishh oh yeah how?

  • @ash2092013 u switch off the the ps3 from the back, then hold the eject button.

turn it on again than and i shud eject it worked of me :D btw i tried what you did to fix YLOD but all it did was burn my motherboard in sum spots as i openned it up yesterday to try fix it, even if it doesnt work had funm opening it up. yh anways i was jus thinking you shud put that in the descrip as a warning you might damage your ps3 doing it your way :D

  • @ash2092013 u turn it off at the back put ur finger on the eject button and turn it on and keep ur finger on shld work

  • @thehascott18 yeah i herd this b4 but it only works with the old 40 gb ps3. so i herd. it didnt work with mine so i went with this

  • i was playing nfs shift and my ps3 all of a sudden turned off. and i got the ylod. what is the easiest way to fix it without voiding the warranty?

  • @VideoSk8Rs34 wat! you got ylod while your warranty was still good. well then no need to fit it yourself. just send it in to who ever you have the warranty with like sony or best buy and get it done for free professionaly.

  • @ash2092013 iv had my ps3 for about 3 years now. there is no warrenty

  • @VideoSk8Rs34 oh since you said whats the best way to fix it withought voiding the warranty i was thinking you still had warranty but you can do this. thenwhen you get fixed sell it and try buying a new one.

  • you are a fuking god it worked the cd came out and tomorrow im gonna chek if it worked thanks very very much man

  • do u have to take any thiing apart please help

  • for some ppl you need to take the top off. nothing else

  • does it work if there is no disk in there? cause I took my mw2 out maually and I've been heating it but it's just running the usual sequence. is it just simultaneous eject/power? or is it like 3 power/1 eject?

  • it is simultaneously pressing the power and eject button. one after another.. see my video reponse to this it might answer your question.

  • @ash2092013 can you do a vid showing how to take off the top of the ps3 thanx...

  • @xSTxUnLeAsHeDTRK no actually you need to put it in a sweater or something cuz if you just blow how air in the vents then your ps3 plastic will melt. i learned that from expierience

  • it didnt work but the ps3 is melted like shit

    its all fucked up

  • My PS3 is a 60 gb version and don't work

  • when u get ur ps3 on do u turn it off or just leav it??

  • if you let it cool down a lil before you use it then it will last longer.

  • i left my ps3 on to cool it down but i got ylod again

  • when i say cool down i mean cool down as in let it OFF and let it cool down

  • @AC3TiK keep note this is not a perm fix

  • you are sincerely a fucking idiot! if you have the guarantee then y the fuck would you prefer to melt the fuking ps3?? its like a blind man picking up his favorite porno!

  • and why would you prefer to have your ps3 just sitting there in no use. i hav made ppl turn on their ps3 after 2 years of ylod. you think the blind man would care which porno he chooses.

  • @ash2092013 nicer comment lol by he way how long estimate does it last for? cause i want to back it up before it cuts out again. will there be enough time?

  • @TheSuperSaiyanSonic yeah. ive got my ps3 to still work for 2 weeks. then i do this process for only 8 minutes and im back for another 2 weeks. you have plenty of time to back your ps3 up & get your valuable data out of that demonic thing. lol

  • @ash2092013 thxbut its not working :( i do it or 7 minutes and i dont have a disk inside........ wat can i do?

  • @TheSuperSaiyanSonic does you fan of ur ps3 go loud?

  • @ash2092013 nope

  • then your doing something wrong. look at my video reponse to when i use the fans power to turn it on

  • is this a 40gb cause i have a 60gb idk if its gonna work a 60gb

  • its a 60

  • does it matter if the hair dryer is at the back of the unit not at the sides ? ? ?

  • its not suppose to be by the sides it has to be on the opposite side of the hdd

  • my ps3 get froze, im doing some steps like clean it up and do more things on it. i will leave it lke last resort

  • I did it and it did work... hope it works for all of you with this problem as well. I had originally opened the system and cleaned the Ps3 thoroughly and that didn't work. Gave up for some time then tried it today, had the hair dryer blowing in the back vents for 15-20 minute moving back and forth and it worked. Be careful the heat melted the back vent grid a little bit. For all of you people who have tried everything else it is worth a shot.

  • i Did it and it works

It melts a little on the side but so what it actually works

  • did the guy who filmed this have parkinsons?

  • have what ??

  • just a bit shaky at the start i thought mj fox was filming

  • Blow me!!! I just got mine working. All i did was blow the vents with a hair dryer for 10 mins. Then i let it cool for 20 mins by an open window. Just backed up my important files and saves, to im happy.

Im not sure how long it will last - i think i will trade mine in quick!!!

  • How u back up your fiiles ? please tell me, i got the yellow light yesterday, out of fucking no where

  • if you get your ps3 to stay on in the settings section theres an option that lets you back up your files. you just need some kind of hdd to put your stuff into.and you sed you got ylod "out of fucking no where". what do you mean? lol

  • well like it happens i turned it on, then played for ten min, i had to turn it off... then when i came back to play i started a demo... and 5 mins.. it froze... and Boom. YLOD.

the same day that i had entered summer vacation (im in argentina thats why)

  • do you let it cool after you do this method or do you go straight back on it after you've turned it on?

  • u cant back them up after ylod.... sorry but your screwd

  • yeah just becuase you get ylod it doesnt mean that you lost your data. just turn it back on and back it up asap.

  • It does work.

One question though, after getting the cd out, let it cool right? I've done that and I waited till the next day to try it out again and it seems to Ylod once again. Common?

  • "it doesnt work"

uhhhh yes it does work. i think the words you are looking for is "it doesnt work for me." so go ahad and rephrase.

ok yes , you do let it cool. but after you get your ps3 to stay on you turn it off. then you try to turn it on agian to see if you need to heat it up agian. and you will get the ylod sometime agian in the future. just like i told someone else" this is not a permenent fix"

  • this diddnt work for me

do i have to have the blow dryer directly touching the ps3 and does the whole dryer have to be inside the hoodie?

  • no on the first question and no on the 2nd just make sure that all the air is in side the sweater to heat up your unit

  • ok then do i let it sit and cool or turn it on asap?

  • if you want to play right away go for a topless ps3 and put a fan on it. but yeah if not let it cool for a couple of hours

  • what exactly is YLOD?

  • you get the ylod because of mother board overheat if you over heat the hdd

  • what does it stand for?

  • but even if you fix the ylod like that, is the memory all gone? or is it still there

  • well it depends. if you get the ylod because of mother board overheat then your all good with the hdd, but if you over heat the hdd then your screwed .

  • Hey, thanks it worked. I'm letting it rest for 12+ hours now. Btw is it okay if I moved the PS3 within the hour when it's resting? (Like after I stopped the hair dryer, took out the disc and test it .. it WORKED!) .. Please answer ASAP, thanks. :)

  • hey yeah its okay if you move it. your doing no damage to your ps3. if you dont whant to wait for hours to play put a fan next to it or if its topless put the fan on top

  • So basicly 7 mins of hairdryer, then let it cool down for about 4 minutes?

  • no, you 7 and a half and i wouldnt trun it back on for some hours to past

  • How Long do you put the heater

  • 7:24

  • seven minutes and 24 seconds ok

and do you have to take the hood of?

  • just watch the video.

  • When you got the ylod the third time how long did it take to for that to happen agian

  • i usually get it once a week or sometime i go 2 weeks b4 it happens agian

  • IT WOOOOOOORKS YEES THANK YOU when I turn it on it has green and Blue

  • Are you actully soopost to do 7 minutes

  • yeah 7 and a half to be exact. no less

  • hehe i discovered this method for myself. And i only put the hairdryer in for like 3 mins and it worked

and i just wrapped mine in a douvet blanket.

  • yeah great job and ive had it fixed for 4 minutes in the hairdryer but only once

  • @ash2092013 Roflmao my ps3 just recently died again and i heated it up again and its working like magic again./

  • Comment removed

  • yeah thats a great sign. you do the button thing after you hit this stage

  • Do I leave the power on or off when I put it in the sweater?

  • off. then you turn it on asap once your done heating it up.

  • thanx for this got mine working so i could trade it in:D

  • Did your ps3 melt wen u fixed it with the hairdryer and sweater? Can you tell me exactly what you did?

  • it melted the vent at the back a bit but they just warped parts of it so its kl just dont leave it in to long i left it on high for about 10 mins;)

  • did u do the button thing that he said to do?

  • yeah

  • how long do you leave the fan on inside the sweater with the ps3

  • lma0o ur melting ppls ps3s? wooow

  • lol. well not really. i just did small mistake that got mine melted. but it shouldnt happen to no one as long as they dont keep the ps3 in the sweater for over 8min or make the hairdryer go in contact with the ps3. like not to close either.=D

  • nope it dont work, didnt think it would.

  • it works hell yea my ps3 aint been on in a year but i did it now it works thanks 4 the video yo : p sony

  • Dont work for my :(

  • man i want to play call of duty :( i have to fix my ps3

  • yeah do this and youll be back on there.

  • If this worked for you could you plz reply to this message. I might try this 2moro my ps3 died on the 17th of august 09 :/ yes long time thats why i dont really care if i fuk it up as long as it might work lol

  • yeah it works. i just did this to my cuzins ps3. i timed how long it should be in the sweater. i left it in there for 7:24 minustes. i used a stop watch. and guess what it worked. try turning it on while its hot. then turn it off manually if it stays on and let it cool down.

but if you dont whant to do it dont. im just telling you it works. what do you have to loose=D

  • Thanks, ill try it 2moro hope it works :P peace

  • ite, ill try to record me doing this next time and put it vid response when i get YLOD. which i will get it it.

  • no luck on my pal 60 gig =[

  • you got to really heat it up. like the plastic on the ps3 feels melted but dont over do it.

  • is it still working?

  • wat a question. lol. of course. its not like its gunna get patched by sony like video games

  • hes takin the piss u no

  • wat do you mean ????

  • can u cool it down with the hairdryer

  • after you heated it up you can by puting the hair dryer on "Cool". thats what i did.

  • it worked. LOL

  • yay lol. glad i helped

  • you are really funny, love it when you said tap it like a guitar...haha

not sure if it works of not because i never tried since i never experienced ylod

  • i tried this i left my hair dryer runing for 10 minutes and soon as the minute mark was finished i pluged it in and got the ylod agian =/

  • so did you let it cool down?

  • yea man still ylod should i try agian with a bigger hoodie? or something

  • nah it dont matter make sure you jeat up the inside of the ps3.

  • alright ill try it agian lol with a heavier hoodie and im going to put the hair dryer right next to the ps3

    thanks man for your help.

  • yeah for sure. =D it has to have no zipper and you have to use a sweater that keeps the air inside

  • yea lol im doing that as i speak lol xD but yea i used a heaver hoodie no zipper and i got it airttight now lol =D

  • DOES THIS REALLY WORK?

  • yes it does. i got ppl to do this and it actually works. you think i would waste my time doing a video on something that is not right.
