@HistoryLover1550 I hope that's just a rumour, but if they do try to remake Clau-Clau, it'll be interesting to see how they handle it. They now have HBO's Rome and other shows to compete with and I think viewers demand more than we did 35 years ago. But you're right, I don't think any remake could do justice to the original.
@waivedwench If the producers really care about the original, they would respect it, make the newer version more dramatic than the original plus have some damn good historians and scholars as historical consultants and tell what happened really in the story of Claudius life.
Thanks for the upload. I've been looking for this particular mini-series for years, there's almost nothing about it on the net. I loved it for one reason - Linda Purl as Nydia. I was so in love with her from the moment I first saw her and actually hated Duncan Regehr simply because he was with her - the swine. :)
I've been trying to find this movie for so long! I remembered seeing it as a child. I downloaded the 1959 version, thinking it was the movie I remembered; the story was the same, characters, too.
But as I watched it, I knew it wasn't the movie I remembered; the actors play was not the same, special effects were cheaper, and the final scene was set during the day. Then what WAS that movie?
I read on wikipedia that there was a miniseries version of that story and I found it here. Thanx!
Isis? Ruler of the world? All the Romans in that crowd would give that Egyptian priest a wide berth as they prepared for Jupiter to smite him with a thunderbolt.
@hollywoodwerewolf: Isis was a very popular godess at that time for Romans, especially slaves and freedmen. The temple of Isis in Pompeii is well preserved and was completely renovated when the Volcano exploded. An earthquake has hit the town before the eruption and has left the temples of Jupiter and the other roman gods in bad shape. Only the temple of Isis was so popular that they raised enough money to quickly restore it.

I wish that a soundtrack had been released for this movie. I've loved the score ever since I was a kid.
It's epic and well performed.
Distinct notes that you remember it.
