You're welcome Ardbug. I spent many hours with Barry Tashian & the guys at rehearsals as well as gigs in the Boston area. They are still doing gigs today in the U.S. and Europe, particularly Spain. They have strong cult following, and an off Broadway show was done a few years ago about their brief career. Barry decided to disolve the band after their tour opening for the Beatles during the Beatles last tour of the U.S..
Boston DID recognize the Remains and there were lines a mile long in Kenmore Square to get in to see them at their weekly gigs at the Rathskeller. They were my buddies at Boston University. However, they left Boston & BU in 1965 to move to NYC after they signed a record contract with Epic. They appeared often at Trude Heller's in NYC, As good as this album might sound to you, it really was a "canned" album because Epic didn't know what to do with them. The Remains live were the best.
@Ardbug They did a "live" in-studio demo for Capitol which is available with -- and without -- dubbed crowd noises. Essentially they plugged in (fresh from a gig) and played their live set.
Both LPs are great. And a CD of all their Epic material -- LP plus singles -- is available.
@dream207 I knew Dave Sherman (good friend during 1970s-80s), their fill-in bass player. He is on the cover of that LP, though he wasn't a regular member. Studio error.
@lambrettist2007 Ouch, I never had an LP stolen from (knock on wood), but losing a mint Remains original would probably pain me for years and years, so I feel your pain, you are welcome to listen to my Remains uploads as much as you like good Sir :)
Ardbug, I'm not too crazy about your video game uploads (unless, there is another with a slight variation of your name) but sure as hell love your music selections ande you raise a very intriguing question about them being a footstep at the door of fame.
@Ardbug Ha ha ha, okay : ) Hey, man, can ya put up their version of Bo Diddley's 'Doo Wah Diddy'? How you're doing? I gotta ask you something: do I come off as a troll here on Youtube, I've been blocked by another 60s music enthusiast and I can't for the life of me figure out why. I'll tone my criticism down if I overstepped manners a bit.
@Khultan I think I tried uploading Diddy Wah Diddy once but it was censored, but Im not sure, I will try again after the weekend.
And you havent offended me yet hehe, the only person I have blocked so far was someone who wanted to rape me and come steal my record collection, I didnt need that :)
@Ardbug Thanks!! Hope you get no problems with it and enjoy your weekend. I kinda play devil's advocate sometimes but when I'm wrong or rebuked, I can readily admit my errors, brush it off, and move on, no hard feelings. Maybe, I'm way too rambunctious or gleeful, I'll level it down a bit. As for your last words....WTF?!? Just block 'em, Ardug. Enjoy your weekend! : )
You Got A Hard Time Comin' - Barry & The Remains [Boston, Massachusetts] - 1965 - "AMG pick. Nice pop beat, guitar." - The Remains-1991. NOTE: A highly regarded Massachusetts 'punk' band, who were originally known as 'Barry and The Remains'. They had quite a reputation in the Boston area in the late sixties, and opened for The Beatles last tour in the Summer of 1966.
@mikekadas I live a dozen blocks away from Candlestick Park. NOW, I have a reason to visit there and wonder about those times in the 1960s.... *I'm not a baseball fan*

Another example of a band deserving greater attention based on quality and not quantity.

@Ardbug I have both mono and stereo versions, both near-mint.
Some of us were smart when it mattered.

The remains had a good clear sound, one of the best of 60's. This is early psychedelia.
