I lost a bet on who wrote this song or made it famous. My girlfriend was a classy lady but she had been raised in a small rural Ohio town and knew all the classic C&W musicians. I was betting it was a Hank Williams song (as it sounded like it would have been) and she said it was Lefty Frazelle. We went into the local library just before it closed and I found the answer in a book on ASCAP Songs. Glad it was only a coke I lost, She could have taken me for a whole lot more.

No, it was done by Lefty Frizzell in the very early fifties. Frizzell was Hag's hero when he was in juvenile detention (also Bob Wills, Hank Williams, Jimmie Rodgers).
