  • Great sound!!!!

Can someone put here the song text in original (Arabic?) as well as translated to English?

    Thanks.

  • @Ron42874 this isnt arabic, it's tamacheq (a touareg dialect)

  • @Ron42874 the song text is in Amazigh not in Arabic

  • @Ron42874 This is not Arabic...the Tuaregs don't speak Arabic but rather Tamasheq which is related to Berber with its own script etc.

  • HEY, is that Ben Stein in the middle of the crowd at 5:05?!?!

  • for touargs ther's no state, no border lines, no flag!! so mali or algeria doesn't mean no thing for them . their land is the desert their language is the berber. they have to be free now and all the berbers of north africa. god bless us the berbers .

  • I could care less about their politics or religion I listen to music for a sound that catches my ear, music in my opinion has no boundaries. I just like the sound, great tune!

  • I've never seen so many white people thrilled to see Muslims in their native garb. Rock on Tinariwen.

  • SOUTHERN ALGERIA = NORTHERN MALI = SAME FAMILY

  • I still think the version with Carlos Santana is amazing, the video quality and sound just aren't as good. They play in a way that invites a meshing of cultures while demanding respect for their own. I love their sound.

  • they are from mali..same as me..

  • @rudeboyazab they live in Mali but they are algerians as me i live in france but i am a foreigner!!

  • Good tune.

Personally I could care less where their from or their politics, if the music is good that enough. Some take all that other crap to seriously.

  • they are not algerian...

  • @themoorish1 how come!!!

  • @inimforum

they are from north mali They do not recognize something called Algeria...

    Algerian regime..He fought them

  • @themoorish1 They sang under the Algerian flag at the World Cup opening party. Openly waving the Algerian flag during the performance...so despite being "freedom fighter" songwriters, they still recognise Algeria as a state.

  • @asxtc yeah but they are from mali..and tuaregs home is in mali and neighborhing countries but mali is the main one.

  • @themoorish1 yes we know you are morocco sut up they are from polizario from indepandant west sahara sa te plé sa sale maroki la jalousie vous boufe de l interieur pauvre minable

I can not wait to see them ...

  • Amassakoul 'n' Tenere Lyrics I am a traveler in the lone desert It's nothing special I can stand the wind I can stand the thirst And the sun I know how to go and walk Until the setting of the sun In the desert, flat and empty, where nothing is given My head is alert, awake I have climbed up and climbed down
  • I love them so much ... africa for ever ...

  • I just learned about Tinariwen when they performed at the FIFA 2010 Kick-off concert in Johannesburg. After that ultimately I fell in love with this band. I downloaded their album 'Amassakoul' and the songs were awesome. God Bless Tinariwen!

  • @ariels36 That's perfectly alright, glad to hear you like my reccomendations :)

  • True the leader grew up in a camp in Algeria, but most of the group and their home base for years has been Mali.

  • @ronozer The whole Touareg Land stretches accross 5 states Algeria Mali Niger Lybia Burkina Faso

  • @TALANISEFRA what about muritania , sudan and morocco ?

  • @ronozer R U sure? because I heard he grew up in Libya

  • @ronozer saharian amazighs moves from one place to another and they don't like to stay in one place ,amazigh means free man so we cannot say they are algerians or maliens ,they are berbers amazighs before all

  • I will Invite these guy s to my village when I become the Governor of my Village Sometime in the Future... Good work Tinariwen

  • j'adore !!!!

  • You Know It hujaaj! Thank You!

  • Awesome LP! AMASSAKOUL!!!

  • Excuse me...

Their attitude (beat, way of rocking or rolling, instruments etc.) is "pop artists-like". This can not be regarded as the tradition of the African desert. If this was the real rhythm'n'blues, I´d prefer the false one, by former US music "men of color".

  • Any of these men trying to go to the US would be stopped at border control and searched for looking like a possible terrorist. Dont think your "pop artists" ever got that treatment ;)

  • wow this is excellent

  • This people are from sub-Sahara of north Africa, they are Nomads. they have a history that expands 2000 years. and this is desert Blues, the one and the only real blues. not what we have in north America copping each other.

this is what you get from Africa. not garbage(garbage in garbage out!)

  • You are very true my friend. In spite i'm not an African but Greek, i believe strongly the same thing. Blues are truly coming from Sahara not from south states of the USA, because many people tells the last one scenery i wrote, but it is a fail and only a fail!!!

Blues inverted in America from the African slaves. It is not an another american "country" kind of music but it is west-African and Saharan. And Tuareg (Imuhag) are the only authentic "bluesers"!!!

  • I am going to see them perform this Tuesday! So excited!

  • tinariwen they are not algerian..

they are from mali..cos same algerian give us a wrong information about this band..

    hicham from morocco

  • proud to be a tuareg. theyre singing about the tenere desert in niger. only 200 km from my dad's hometown and 10 km from my mom's.

  • Yeah!

  • cool!!!

  • Great ! Great feeling and hipnotycal sensations !

    This is " The Desert' s Blues " !

Now, it' s also, in my channel.

    Thanks, Gianni Hinek

  • my 8 year old douter Haneen and I we love this song.

  • they drive me to crazy..

  • GREAT

  • I love this, this is sooooo brilliant. I love the clothing, I love the sound of the desert, I can hear the wind, the walk of soft camel feet in the dry, desert sand. It awakens my spirit to a beautiful secret space that i no longer knew existed. Elizabeth M Jones Auckland New Zealand

  • to Antar18,

Please go and look in internet => Tinariwen are not algerians, I met them some weeks ago in Zurich.

  • Actually, as they are Tuareg, a semi-nomadic people from north central Africa, they are not from any one country. Rather, the Sahara, or Africa would be a better description of their origin.

  • @gandalfpres

i'm from Algiers and originaly an Amazigh berber from North East of Algeria ( Aures Mountains) and Touareg are near to my Blood than Arabs, even if i'm white and touareg are brown, but we Both are Amazigh Berbers. and the word africa come from Berber, AFER or IFRI mean The Cave in Rocks..

  • tinariwan is a band from south of algeria, tribut of TWAREG, and not from mali, mali hase also thier twareg, but this band are from algeria

  • Viva Amazigh Viva who open this video .. i like't really

  • great band seen them live two times and gives my heart peace and i felt like a million bucks both times. I support freedom for west-sahara and all tuaregs, these guys are old warriors that decided that music is better than words to bring the meassage.

  • nous sommes tous des africains!.

    we are all africans!

    somos todos africanos!.

  • The people of North Africa (Berber"s) were great seafarers trading in "far distant shores"their ships came to our Islands a thousand or more years ago. we had gold copper"to trade" ,social contact followed and "the melody and rhythm" of African music was seeded into our culture,it is reflected our appreciation and understanding of Tinariwen,Are we not like Caravans passing in the desert or"like ships passing each other at sea".From the UK Peace be upon you in the holy month of Ramadan

  • Ramadan kareem. Thank you for your informative words.

  • Freedom for the Twareg people ....they deserve better....Great jam btw. I'm gonna try to make love with song. Has a nice love making rhythm, slow and easy (for the ones we like it that way)...Peace.

  • love them! i heard the album! and they are brillant!! thaks for psting!!!

  • I can tell that they are really enjoying themselves, and the music shows that. Bravo and well done. Awesome groove!

  • The popularity among whites of music from authentic places shows that people like these are closer to the Real than we in the West. This music is a reflection of Truth.

  • Hahaha. As a South Asian, Muslim and American, I love this. I love indigenous world music. More Americans need their eyes and ears opened to the various cultures in the world, and then their hearts will follow, instead of demonizing us.

  • It shows their lack of prejudice and being impartial enabling them to enjoy the music as it is not like you trying to make a political point here...

There is a huge western folk (or classical) repertoire which is as precious as Qawali, Hindi or African music is. Music is music and good music comes from the heart, be it Tinariwen, Bob Dylan or Bach.

  • When one's skin is brown, everything is "political," as you put it. We brown-skinned people in the West do not have the luxury to compartmentalize our lives into the "political" and the non-political. The "political" creeps up on us when we least expect it.

Music and other aspects of culture serve to humanize the demonized "Other." If one society can rave and appreciate another's music, but still bomb it into oblivion, well, then they can keep their appreciation.

  • Yes this the music of my people Tuareg's imazighen!I'm very proud to be amazigh!A great antiquity people invaded by Islamic'sArab people!

    Irgazen d tamettut n tamazgha,d ahuffir a miss tamurt!azul felawen s imazighen!

...and also the lady is gorgeous!!!

  • Thid i what whay lie is about1 It's a celebration of of what we have in common! God! This is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cOThis is a celebratiomn of Life like it should be!God Bless everyone that loves this music or doesn;tOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!

  • I love your music! It makes me want to dance!
