Hey staged91, do you still have this lens? If so, what are your experiences so far, do you still like it? I'm planning to buy it as well. But i'm a bit worried about the lack of any vibrate redections. I'm a handheld shooter. Is it usable without a tripod to get good 'sharp' photo's. Or is it really necessary to use a tripod when zoomed in?
yeah, i've used the kit lens for about 7 to 8 months. and then i decided that i wanted some more zooming capability, to take shots of animals, planes etc...
the quallity if of the tamron lens, when compared to the kit lens is avout the same image quallity i think.
it depends on what your expectations are. i bought this lens knowing that i wasnt getting SUPER high quallity pictures like the high end nikkor lenses will.
and for a fact, i don't think you can find a 70-300 lens for such a low price which gives you very nice pictures. you get a lot of bang for buck.
but if you do have the money i would say go for the 70-300 nikkor lens. don't get me wrong, this really is a great lens, and i don't think you will be dissapointed by buying this lens.
that's a nice cam, the d60. and the tamrom what can i say about it it's a great lens especialy for such a low price. i personaly think people give the tamron 70-300 way too less credit for.
i'm also a beginner. it really is a nice lens don't you think so. only con's i've experienced with this lens is that it 'hunts' sometimes, and you can't take good pictures when its dark.
right on , and yeah we have a couple at college (taking photography course ) and there the older versions of the 70-300 , they dotn have the auto-focus wich sucks but yeah there good for zoom specialy since it's not a full frame so the 1.5 factor makes it actualy like a 70-450mm or around that and yeah from are what are teacher says it's the comes secont to the nikkor ones
good to hear that. this really is a nice lens, but to be honest with you the quallity isn't as good as a nikkor 18-70mm. but still you get a great lens for the price you pay. its got an incredible ammount of zoom and the colors look very nice.

thank you and yeah i cant afford the nikor lens i mean it costs like as much as my camera did and i was saving for awhile just to get that.
but have you ever used the 18-55 nikor kit lens?
and i was wondering how its quality was compared to that and again thanks for your help
